I live in northern England and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone so happy to see overcast skies as Laura and calling heavy rain “awesome” is a complete anomaly to me 😂

When you live in a desert, rain is very welcome. (I’m from the same area as Laura, and I LOVE rain). When I visited England, there was a heat wave. I was so surprised to see people flocking to parks and sitting on the grass in the hot sun 😅. I was looking for refuge somewhere with air conditioning. 🤣

@@laraemitchell9064 the U.K. had a very hot summer last year, in July daytime temperatures reached 40°C (104°F) and nighttime temperatures remained high too at over 80°F, couple those temperatures with the humidity we have…..🥵

Me too, we had our three days of summer and now it’s grey and cold again!!
I love their big skies though, those clouds looked like a low ceiling!!
Far nicer than the wall to wall grey rain we have. But at least we don’t have to set up watering systems. Thankful for small mercies.

I love it and you perfectly summed it up - a riot of color! Supertunias are such a great investment as an annual. This year, I decided to try growing petunias instead. I failed last year so I went overboard while seeding trays and now I have almost 90 petunia plants. Experiments are such a fun way to discover what works for you. Which hay rack are you most excited to see perform?

    Hi Laura,
The beauty about this set up is you can swap the order around should you every want to plant an ombré rainbow 🌈
Similar to what you’re doing in the Dahlia and Rose gardens.
Thanks for planting them so we can see their growth habits. Also, thank you for all the garden updates this year, they do take time and I for one, appreciate it. ❤

I’m really excited to see how the torenia, James Britannia, and bidens do! I’m sure I am in the minority but I just don’t love petunias all that much- I actually don’t like when a plant is all blooms without much foliage coming through. I think having the background of visible foliage is just a more pleasing look for me and frames the flowers so they aren’t lost individually in a big mass. Silly, I know 😆 So having the diversity of those plants among the petunias will be really interesting to see unfold!

Where is this on your property? Can’t orient myself. I wonder if adding a bit of acidifier to the superbells soil might help? Yes, they like good drainage, but I am convinced that they like acidic soil better than alkaline, also. I have stopped even trying. I am surrounded by limestone quarries. My bedrock is limestone. My well water comes out of that limestone. Some things are worth fussing over and some are just a waste of money for me.

So glad to see that the hay racks are back . I like the idea of one type of plant in each one. Great experiment. Great info for all of us❤

So fun! I love the idea of seeing how each plant will perform! I am trying scovola for the first time this year but in a more Lavender shade. I am loving it so far. Plus I have used orange Campfire Bidens for several years and love that one too. The Marshmallow variety is super cute. The yellow finch is going to be one I look for next year. I love the name. I cannot wait to see the progress of the hayracks this year!!

Laura can you tell me where Million Bells fits in with all of these other varieties of bell flowers. The lady at my local garden center said they will grow FAST! ❤

I know rain is better for your plants and garden. But we get to much in the UK. But l can understand why you love it.

This is going to look amazing. And while I know this is their business, in the back of my mind it still goes that this display would cost over $2500 for the flowers alone! With these compost pots, now in my area it costs $7.99 per pot when they were 4.99 or 5.99. I love my proven winners and I spent over $600 this year, it just still blew my mind on price. Yes, I know this per area, but did anyone else see this large of an increase? I just love to try all the new annuals , but I stuck with all my go to’s b/c I got 1/3 of what I would for this price.😢 such a bummer not being negative

I thought the hay racks would be on the driveway fence. Still looks amazing. I wonder if you deal with thieves? Does anyone steal your plants?
