I think I am a lucky one. I did my degree in HK and am studying a master programme in UK right after my degree. I applied for around 10 graduate jobs and received an offer. I do agree that Hongkongers are not worse than locals as long as you have well preparation for your interview and be confident.
Stebo and Faye, very useful advice indeed, thanks. To share some experiences that I started looking for my first IT job in a milk round back in Earls Court in the 80s. I then was selected by this largest IT company of the times for a week's interview at their HQ down in the south coast. Staying in a Southsea hotel with the other applicants by doing all sort of tests, presentations, aplitude tests socializing with hiring managers during happy hours etc., they were testing you in every aspect of your personality. it was exhaustive but an experience to gain in a life time. The essence is being honest, both to yourself and others, simple and clear talking, and most importantly be hilarious. Good luck to all job seekers during these difficult times.
Getting a new, good, job isn't difficult just to the migrants. It takes time, effort and even luck. To all HKers moving to UK - welcome and keep it up!

Thanks to telling us the English course Lingoda, it is a very good deal if we attend once a day for 30 days then we can have it for free. It’s a great reward to encourage us to keep going.
The best way to learn English is from watching TV non stop 🛑 I watch documentary / games show all British production with subtitles. The more you watch the better you get.
This is very useful, not only for people entering UK workforce, but good advice for all in generally. I particularly like the hint of how to speak in English slowly and clearly, which always a problem from a Cantonese speaker.
4:00 agree in an interview i talked about the history of the company , their market share in industry , major events , highlights etc, the boss was impressed(it was a medium size company) i got the job offer in the end

非常好的貼士。 我都成日做interviewer, 而家online interview, 如果有機會要解釋technical 嘢， 最好準備白紙同marker pen。 有啲問題例如點解你想入呢間公司？ 或 點解你覺得你適合做呢個職位？ 都係俾你sell 自己嘅長處。 學Faye 話齋， 你可以舉例你以前嘅project 喺幾短時間內accomplished 咗啲乜嘢。乜嘢fast learner, key player 例子等等，自己有幾鐘意xxx 所以好想有得喺xxx發揮😂. 要見工嘅朋友加油💪🏻

在3分30秒提到可能一個職位要interview 好多個 rounds - 很多很多年前, 高盛(Goldman Sachs) 倫敦總部的 Special Execution Group 公開招聘剛畢業但有財經及法規背景的 junior, 我是被 shortlisted 作 first round 的六人其中之一, 約3個鐘頭之內連續6個單對單interview, 每次30分鐘。
我都有咁嘅經驗, 我喺香港見一間美國公司it manager, 見完咀唇都裂開晒, 足足見咗三個鐘有多, 嗰次係 1st int.
@@khauhk178 可能要提埋一啲申請者面試前要搽潤唇膏, 應去廁所, 之前2個鐘頭內不要喝太多水。 (會唔會有啲申請者在網上面試前穿著成人紙尿片或在枱底下準備好尿壺?)
