I have a ep70, had it for three years now. I put a 4efe in mine with the five speed gearbox. Suits the car quite well. If you go turbo (4efte) I would seriously consider being serious about handling too and safety. I’m on polo coilovers 6n coilovers on the front and rear ta technix coilover dampers (vw 96c ) in the back with golf1 coilover springs. Also made extended tophats on the rear higher so the the dampers sits higher (approx. 8cm.). If you want a little bit more low you can use ep91 tophats too, they give you about three cm of free lowered goodness.😂 Drives well, it’s quite low but the handling is not bad at all. Make sure to get an adjustable panhard rod from Gizfab whittle if you put different suspension on it. If you have any questions ask me! Oh btw for the 4EFE swap the only thing you need to build/add is a fuel pump. The ep91 starlet drivetrain fits on all factory mounts. Just don’t forget to put the throttle cable from a ep91 in as well.
Love your starlet. good seeing another beige box on the road. mine only has the standared 1E in it. but i like it just a much. getting modifications is a bit of a pain. i think 2E parts will fit on it. I want to put an exhaust on it but i dont know if the ones from the p80 will fit on it. from what i have seen the exhausts look the same. I may bite the bullet and see if my thinking is correct
If you are handy enough you can do a bike carb conversion for some itbs and build your own exhaust headers by removing the runners from the stock exhaust manifold flange and welding your own on
I live in Australia and we did get the Starlet l new they were around because they sold a lot of them amd l knew somebody who owned one and at that stage l didn't know how good and reliable Toyotas are many facts around about how reliable they are l own a 25 year old toyota hilux it is the Australian version because for 1997 it still retained tge carburetor and doesn't have a cat converter also if you prepared to import a Toy I ta Starlet from South Africa they are brand new basically they are rebadged Suzuki Belenos built in the same factory in India along side the Suzuki Beleno we bought a Suzuki Beleno GLX last year an will we never get tge Starlet in Australia because it woukd compete against the Coralla and we do not get the Baleno in Australia any more and of course they are very popular in Australia and our Baleno has apreciated
