Great video Brian! Amazing work everybody who worked from very early till after midnight to make sure that disaster was averted. To the person who made the comment that there were worse affected areas- of course there were and our sympathies go out to them but if all this hadn't happened and all these wonderful volunteers hadn't given up their Boxing Day to help we would have had one of the biggest disasters on our hands, have you seen the amount of water on the rolls field, well that would have been in our houses. At one point yesterday it seemed like we were just putting off the inevitable but it's totally astounding what everyone achieved!! Thank you everyone who saved us from complete disaster, we owe you big time!!!
I think the point of this was 'to prevent' as the video says!!! As Christine said, yes there were worst place hit, but it was too late for them and all they could do was abandon their homes and wait to assess the damage 'my parents included'. Well done to the Skipton Road crew for prevents more people from being without homes this Christmas x
Great people, brilliant efforts. It is pure luck that I have somehow avoided being caught up in this (I live very near to Apperley Bridge, BD10 which has also been badly hit and closed off. The brand new railway station opened here earlier this month, so not sure how they have been affected yet.
Loads of post 10's helping the community. Well done everyone that did it. Ps I know it's from 5 years ago.
