Actually fasting keeps your insulin levels low and thus helps you burn fat... Not to mention the mere fact of being in a caloric deficit will do just that. Sure, it's not healthy to fast for days, but an intermittent fasting programme is usually beneficial.

I think things can work in theory, but not always practice. In theory, the fastest way to lose weight is to not eat anything at all (except water and vitamins) until you reach your goal weight. In practice, a lot of people who struggle with weight loss have issues with impulse control, immediate gratification and food addiction. For some people, intermittant fasting can be easy because they have the willpower to skip meals and then resume at a usual pace. For a lot of obese people, however, skipping meals or "restricting" can lead to binge eating or overeating when they can be "rewarded", so they instead maintain or even gain weight instead. It's just as much a behavioural and psychological issue as it is a physical issue.

I started intermittent fasting and it seems to be working. I personally think that people can lose weight many ways. All of our bodies are similar but we all work a bit differently so if it works for your body then do it.

Intermediate Fasting changed my life. I was 220 pound xlarge t-shirt and 38 jeans, now I am a small in my t-shirt and 30 in my jeans. Fast 1 or 2 days a week, eat whatever (within reason) the other days. Kept it off for 1 year. Easy Easy Easy. What other diet can have these results and being able to keep off the weight?

I believe Jillian said that its not eating before bedtime thats bad for you, its that when you eat at night you tend to overeat more than you do during the day. So if you can control how much you eat, its fine. But still, when you choose what to eat you should probably stick with the healthy food/snacks ;)

fasting is the best if you do intermittent fasting. i do 16 hours no food lots of water and then i pack in 2000-3000 calories in 4 hours. and i go to the jim 7 days a week on an empty system. there are so many ways to have a good dieting system. i hate when these workout gurus bash on other dieting methods that work.

But can keep that up for 40 years, or until whenever you die?
Can you maintain it during holidays? Trips? On a 9-5 job?
Have you had regular check-ups? Are you still on weight loss, or using it to keep your goal weight?
I think what Jillian, and me, is going for the long term not just what you can loose weight by doing. But keep it of the rest of your life.
And fasting, no matter Intermittent or not, just seem too extreme to be truly longlasting. Except Maybe 5:2 if you count it as a type of fasting.
Anyways, good you found what made you happy, hope it Will last a lifetime for you.

She is half right about the body storing fat during fasting which is true except when your protein is the majority of your food intake with fat being second and carbs being third then your body actually reserves the muscles and can start burning the fat during fasting. She didnt want to disclose this for whatever reason probably so people can buy her book lol

Keto is scientifically proven to be healthy.
    Intermittent fasting even more so.

    • @RA-sz4jb
      @RA-sz4jb 5 років тому +1

Cutting out an entire food group is not healthy. You are human and need carbs. People just can’t eat them in moderation so they do these type of “diets”. Keto DOES work because it’s a weight loss tool and you will lose weight but you will not be healthy and you will not be able to sustain it (can you live your entire life without carbs?), so might as well learn how to eat a balanced diet. Her weight loss methods do work but unfortunately a lot of people have the “I’ll lose the weight and when I’m skinny I can stop the dieting and exercising” mentality and gain the weight back and that’s not her fault, she’s trying to teach people how to be healthy as a lifestyle.

There seems to be a lot of dissent about a zero carb diet and it's health effects. From a biochemical standpoint, yes you'll be forced to only oxidize fat if you have zero carbs. BUT oxidizing fat = making ketone bodies for fuel, which is as someone mentioned, an inferior fuel source to glucose. That's called ketogenesis, and too much of it has extremely negative health effects. The body's last resort is to breakdown proteins, which will eventually cause you to lose your muscle mass.

  • @staticoxnard8053

She is a nutritionist? She is so uneducated on how the body works. I lost 40 pounds on keto 50 days. Keto and fasting... also reversed my diabetes. Eating 4 hours will make your insulin go crazy. You want to lose weight you have to control your insulin levels and that’s where fasting comes in to place.
