Henry, you’re so cool! I’m a 78 yo retired school counselor…..type 1.5 for 25 years, enjoyed your analysis so much. I’m new to Omnipod 5 , but on Omnipod’s for 3 years, cannot get training until March 26. You have inspired me to go ahead with online videos. Thank you! I love my Omnipod 5! One thing I do is put enough insulin to last through the extra 8 hours that it gives you before you have to change it. That way, you get an extra 24 hours for every 3 pods, which lets you build up a “back-up” supply for travel or delays in prescriptions getting refilled.

I don't know what your insurance copay is for Omnipod 5 refills, but when I first started 200 units only lasted me two days, never the full 72 hours, much less the grace period of 8 hours after the 72. I asked my endocrinologist if she could send a prior authorization for additional pods and she did, so now I never have a shortage of pods because I get a refill every 20 days, instead of every 30 days. It just costs me an additional copay, which for my plan is $35. Something that for me, is well worth it just because life happens. You could ask your doctor about that and try it with your insurance.
Also, when you change the pod and it goes into limited automated mode, try restarting the PDM. I always do that and when it restarts and I log into the screen with the pin It has changed to automated. So happy Henry is loving it!!
Agree! Life changing for all of us! The expense and the trash it put's into. the landfill are the only downsides.
I've been on Tandem for years with Control IQ. I decided to trial the Omnipod 5. I've tried it for 4 months and I really can't get below 156 as an average. The algorithm just isn't working well for me. So frustrating. But I like Tandem too. So I'm thankful to have that and then Omnipod 5 as a backup! ❤❤❤ I hope things continue to go well for you!

our endo dr told us this week that the iphone app for omnipod 5 should be ready towards the end of this year. I hope that actually happens because it's a pain for our son to have to carry 2 devices. The omnipod 5 has made our life much easier and everyone gets more sleep at night.

I love my OmniPod 5. There are days I only touch my controller to eat other wise it’s doing any micro corrections and suspension of insulin for me!
Technology is so awesome these days!
I’m still on old Omni pods do to insurance changes had to get pods from other type 1’s that don’t need anymore.. waiting to go to new ENDO at the end of month
I like having a separate receiver because at work then people don’t assume I’m texting on my phone.

Supposedly Omnipod is going to have an O5 app for the iPhone very soon which will allow you to ditch the "controller." I use DIY Loop with Dash pods, Dexcom G7, and my iPhone and it's awesome. I can leave the house with just my iPhone and some fast-acting glucose gel in my pocket.

Would you be willing to share your change in hbA1c after going on the Omnipod 5? Ie if it goes up/down by a little or by a lot. The main thing stopping me switching right away is worrying mine will increase when I start using it because of that 110 target.
In one month A1c went from 7.0 to 6.7
I just got the dex 7 😀in April
It has never asked the question what is your total daily dose. It gets your TDD from the basal program you enter on the first day. You add up your basal for 24 hours then double it and that’s your Total Daily Dose.

Yep, it is suppose to come with a controller. No, they do not need to be near it to work
In fact, Henry was outside playing with water and a small pool and came in the house because his pod was beeping urgent low. We had no idea because it wasn't connected. How cool is that? We love it
