You nailed it! I personally don’t try something new often because I enjoy what I’ve purchased after recommendations here on UA-cam. I’ve recently bought some new eyeshadow pallets and don’t foresee buying anything new because again, I enjoy what I’ve purchased from recommendations here.
I agree. And it's become sad for me because beauty videos have been one of my special interests for years. But I found out last year that I have allergies to some common ingredients. So much of the time when I see a beauty video, I can't use 95% of the products. I know that's specifically a "me" issue, but it's made it very obvious to me that much of the content is focused on new, new, new rather than "use whatever you have handy to create this type of look".

And it's crazy too because sometimes I'll do a video where I don't mention the product-- because it's more about the application or tip-- and people get angry that I didn't tell them what I used! like that wasn't the point!! haha
Honestly, you're the only beauty influencer I follow anymore so anything you show is new to me unless you've used it a bunch of times before 😂 I'm the type to follow just because I liked a person's vibe and then I'm there for whatever content they want to put out! I personally do not get sick of creators reusing the same products over and over. That to me is a much better review than just a monthly favorite or “try on”. I’m not personally buying much makeup right now but if I was going to buy something, it would be something that is a long time love of someone I watch regularly.
I do agree that once a new product is out, everyone is talking about it on social media. It can get to the point that it gets boring. That's why I enjoyed this video. You talk about products used in the past that are still loved and it can remind us about it "oh yah I have/use that product".
I love inspo and product reviews, but I also love "updated" reviews or "ride or die, I have used this for the past two years" videos. When I'm struggling to find the right product, it is so encouraging to hear a beauty content creator love a product so much that they cannot be swayed by new releases. That longevity is so persuasive to me. Honestly that's part of the reason why you're my favorite beauty channel after watching sooo many other channels. You keep it fun and new but relatable and honest at the same time 😄
Yes! Love when they come back for an update on the products they have reviewed. Even just popping on a short with an end of day after a review. Because sometimes it just doesn’t hold up but some of us run out and buy it.
Your makeup look is gorgeous!! I like seeing influencers using the makeup they have to create new looks with them. I know I can't afford to go out and buy new things all the time but also get "stuck" doing new looks with the things I have. Thank you Miranda for all your hard work helping us with makeup.

I have been thinking about this with regards to the indie eyeshadow palette boom. There’s no way we as beauty lovers can keep up with the amount of palettes coming out. It’s not financially feasible. I appreciate watching older products show up in videos. I have no problem with you using products over and over.
Totally-- and even if we're gifted the product, it's not like our viewers will keep up either. That's part of the reason I had avoided ColourPop for SO many years because it was all limited edition releases nearly every week. Once they started focusing more on permanent every day products, I got so much more into the brand.

My favorite videos are the Application of the Makeup itself...the starting of a blank canvas, and incorporating colors, to make the pretty end result, is so relaxing and interesting. Therefore it doesn't matter to me if the makeup is New or a Shop my Stash type of video. I do like to see what's new, just to keep up with my love of makeup, but I will only purchase something I feel excited about, and that I think will work on me - not just because it's new. And also, if I feel I'm connecting with a content creator (such as yourself!) I will watch all of the videos, whatever they're about! 😍💝

I am really enjoying videos where youtubers are simply pulling out what they already have, and using their current go-to products. I like seeing content creators encouraging us to reach into our own collections to re-explore old favorites in new ways, with tips and tricks thrown in for application as well. Alot of the time, we already have products that are similar or work in similar ways to super new or viral products, and we get overwhelmed with so much new stuff that we forget about what we already have and have enjoyed. If you haven't heard of Julie Dawn Olsen then I encourage you to check her out, she does videos exactly along those lines, has a pretty good following and people are really enjoying her content. Loved your video, and just seeing you have fun applying makeup while chatting.

I go back to your older videos to see what you were talking about a year or more ago. I find most influencers speak about the same content, whether drugstore or high-end, and it gets so monotonous. There is such a saturation of (new) products debuting on a weekly basis these days that I find it difficult to keep up. This is the reason I enjoy watching your older videos. Some of the products you discuss in your older videos are still new to me. A mix, however, is fine with me. Keep up the incredible work.
Yes, and partially also brands feeding into it by releasing so many new products/discontinuing old ones... the other day I was trying to link to a product I LOVED that literally just came out over summer and it was already discontinued!
I am so happy I clicked on this video because I've had neck surgery and I have tried over 50 pillows sense then and can never find a good one and I am definitely trying that one. Thanks. Sephora's high-end and luxury products are, of course way too expensive; however, do they have any budget-friendly products under their house-brand line? Their eyeshadow palettes aren't good, BUT I've really liked their foundation and their Size Up mascara, and I didn't think they were any more expensive than drugstore products.
I appreciate new product videos to keep up with what’s good but not when it becomes the main focus of beauty content. I noticed we’re past the 2016 maximalist makeup looks but not the maximalist makeup collecting. I’m guilty of hoarding new products last year and not really using them more than once or twice. I stopped watching those types of videos recently and stuck to using the same products I started to love for the last 2 months. But I felt kind of alone about it as even more new product/test new makeup videos keep getting recommended to me anyway. On the other hand to avoid overdoing minimalism is a message that stuck with me that went “Minimalism should be about keeping only what you love to use” Basically, yes I’d love more videos like this lol. That’s the early 2010s beauty guru era I miss. They would make a couple videos of different looks using the same products albeit there was the occasional lip swatch video of a whole line you’d get sent in PR 😂 but they were chill
The Covergirl Fresh lip balm in Bliss You Berry is next level, it looks better on me than my Clinique Black Honey, it feels better too 😊 / Miranda how would you compare the Panaroma in comparison to the OG Voluminous? I've recently gotten more into a wow mascara look, wondering if I should go with the Panaroma or the Maybelline Sky High?
Honestly I was never a fan of the OG Voluminous because it flaked SO much for me! This one doesn't at all. This one is slightly lighter than Sky High as well so a bit less of a learning curve in terms of clumpiness.

Love your bangs - I have bangs, and I’ll never not have them because my hairline is low and forehead space needs the illusion that bangs allow. I will always follow you. Even if I won’t wear every look, I love how you give great tips (marinating concealer!) and you teach technique. I’m 77 and I love the way makeup still works and is still fun.
