  • The phrase, "chin over the line" is used in this video to discuss an umpire's positioning for all fair/foul. Note that "chin on the line" is often the product of "straddling the line," getting one's "belt buckle" on the line, or getting "chalk between the feet."
    While straddling the line is ideal, there are situations where umpires may only be able to get their "chin over the line." Regardless of situation, umpires should be on & over the line, not next to the line, for all fair/foul decisions. For inclusivity of situations only, the phrase "chin over the line" is used throughout the video and not intended to be used as a substitute for straddling or "belt buckle on the line" when possible.
