is a sometimes heard short name for the transit hub comprising the local bus terminal, Flushing Line and the Queensboro IND stations in Jackson Heights, Queens at Roosevelt Avenue. Having lived near 82nd Street station from 1986 to 1992 this place was one of several stations I have had the pleasure of calling a 'home station'. The others were Main St (1962 to 1984), Queens and Queensboro Plaza (1984 to 1986), 14th and 7th, 6th and 8th (1992 to 2004) and 71 Ave (2004 to present), This is actually the second of two videos featuring the Victor Moore Arcade bus terminal Owned privately as a commercial building, the owner was granted a franchise to operate a bus terminal by the NYC Board of Estimate. Triboro Coach bus routes operated out of there. It was one of a kind (besides the 165th Street terminal in Jamaica and the Flushing North Shore Bus Terminal closed in the 1950s). This is some of my last remaining Hi-8 and DV self shot camcorder video awaiting upload to UA-cam. As I started production, I didn't have a particular song in mind. I like to hear the natural audio of a scene, but generic subway and el clatter gets old pretty quick. I started scanning dozens of songs on easy listening playlists. Within five seconds of hearing 1975s Good Company by Simon Park & Gary Grant, I knew I had something. I soon realized there were five killer tunes all neatly packaged together from a CD of 22 'Jazzy Gems' for 'before the world falls apart'. The color slides are mine and date from the early 1980s.
Don't miss my trip to Victor Moore Arcade video from 1994! • Trip to Victor Moore A...

Cool to see my subway station 90th-Elmhurst avenue. I wonder if the video was shot in October, during the MLB Playoffs. Thanks for sharing!

What a throwback! Redbirds on the 7, and 1998 Triboro Coach Corporation Orion V CNG #3002 on the Q47, along with some Triboro Coach Corporation RTS's. #3002 would be renumbered to #7216 under the MTA, before retiring around 2012 or 2013. The Redbirds would retire 3 years later, with the R62As replacing them, then being replaced themselves by the R188s, which in turn sent the R62As back to the 6, replacing the NTTs there.

hahaha i remember that corner, incessant beeping. i'd be waiting for the Q19b down on the corner of 74 st and 37 ave and you'd see that catastrophe and the bus inching towards you---you could crawl on your hands and knees all the way home and still beat that bus

HAHA! Love the snippet of what the station looks like today. Caught me off guard. Especially with the World's Fair train.

Trainluvr, very enjoyable. Good job on the music. You have a very keen ear as the tunes you selected have an "Old School" New York City sound to them and blend so well with the scenes that you showcase on this clip. The Roosevelt-Jackson Heights station was always a busy place, even at 9pm on weekdays. It's a bit nicer and cleaner today and still busy as ever. Nice catch on the GMC RTS and MCI Classic coaches (as well as the TOMC) :-)

More than you realize. I have friends of mine that are former New Yorkers that were born in the 60s'-70's and have fond memories of that time period and enjoy seeing videos like yours. I just wish they'd get off their keesters and post a "Way to go!" or "Thank you." on your vids. You enjoy doing this but it takes a lot of work and effort for you to put together quality vids like these. Instead of sharing on UA-cam, you could have easily decided to get with a producer, clip everything together and have it published as a NYC transit fan video spanning from the 80s'-early 2000's. So for myself and my fellow old school NYC transit fans: A SINCERE THANKS!

Trainluvr any more 90s and 2000s perhaps 80s NY clips to be soon shared keep on doing this.

ACLTony It will be cool if the clips were made into a Doc Series of Transit in NYC during the 80s and 90s like a mini Netflix Series.

That's a neat idea. He has quite a bit of footage. There are now some really good digital production businesses that can take older videos and really spruce them up to modern standards. But the service isn't cheap.

childhood! I still miss seeing and riding the redbirds on the 7!
I remember whenever my mom and I walked to school during my elementary school days (or simply took the Q58), I would spot the then-new Orion V CNGs on the Q53. Kinda wish my parents had a camera to record some Triboro Coach action, let alone, wish I knew about the MTA bus takeover when my parents DID get a camcorder, so I could have tried to record the last months of Triboro Coach, as the Q38 ran by my middle school and I lived near the Q23.
At least the 2013-2014 LGA bus shortage brought back the V CNGs on the ex-Triboro routes for a while (even though the ones CP loaned to LGA were ex-QSC units).
I can see why the V CNGs, let alone the RTS CNGs probably never ran on the Q33, Q47 and the Q19B before the renovation, the max height would have been too low to be able to fit the CNG tanks. After the renovation, the V CNGs were able to fit in without any trouble.
I also can remember when they started pushing mainline redbirds on the 7, either it was a solid consist or a mixed consist of mainline and world's fair redbirds. And then you had that one 10-car world's fair consist that for whatever reason was assigned to Westchester yard (usually a mixed consist and it was always on the 6) - probably the preservation of 9306 may have been the reason why that 1 set would run on the 6 as they would be missing a single for another 11-car consist.
The one thing I still find odd is that one R21/R22 car which was repainted as a redbird and renumbered 9306 (there's a photo after that unit was scrapped, and you can see it was repainted as a redbird complete with the interior paint scheme).
