I spent my young adult life putting aside things that I needed to do for myself to help others every time they needed it. When I got older , I realized how unfulfilled I was in my own life because I had done so much for others and so little for myself. I started to say no to people and found that people had gotten so used to me just dropping what I was doing to help them , that they hated me for saying no. Now I have no friends or family who will talk to me anymore because they say I'm selfish. In reality, they're the selfish ones because they never once helped me or cared about my needs. They tell me they can't even remember me helping them or what I ever did for them. I sure was important to them when they needed my help but as soon as their needs were met, they soon forgot how important of a part I played in making their wishes come true. Nowadays I feel like a fool for having given up so much of my time to ungrateful people but thankful that I'm now living a more fulfilling life for myself.

Can relate. I hope you learn to take care of yourself and set boundaries. It can be hard but if they don't respect you , then withdraw. Maybe watch some videos about toxic friends and spend some time taking care of yourself ...like positive affirmations, going for walks , Journaling, etc . If you're religious like a Christian then pray because God cares even if it doesn't seem like it .

To Donald in the comments a very, very similar thing happened to my husband and myself. I understand your situation completely and on top of that I went through a spiritual awakening through Covid. I basically speak to about three people in my life right now and I’ve never been happier, people are just so oblivious to what you do and mean to them it is just unbelievable to me and exported almost drove us into poverty actually sent us an invitation to his snotty son‘s wedding today. I cannot wait to send it back ASAP. Of course we’re not going but the audacity of this family to even think that we would want to even go to this wedding is just so unbelievable to me. It just shows the narcissism of people, yes it took me also a very long time to realize this. All of a sudden I realized I was not very happy but everybody else around me was go figure what was I doing wrong? Exactly what you were doing wrong but don’t worry because God is a comeback God he will make up for everything that you fail you lost. He truly will just keep the faith that’s what I’m doing slowly but surely my husband and I are regaining everything that we gave away. Amen. Everyone have a blessed day.

As a giver I have come to learn that the one to be wise is the giver and not receiver. Yes it is more blessed to give then to receive but receivers do not have limits , they build themselves at other people’s expense and become entitled in most cases. They are takers and don’t care what it costs you.The giver must be wise and set boundaries otherwise you will just be building others and not yourself, in the end you start holding grudges and being resentful towards those you helped, as you help others do the same with yourself. You only have one life to live and must enjoy it🙏🔥❤️

Kidnapper pretends to be blind man to get kind hearted kid to help bring him home where a gang in ambush lie await to kidnap kids. Not everyone out there has good intentions and you need to protect yourself. Being kind is important but you shouldn’t let others take advantage of your kindness. Learn to say no when necessary and set boundaries with others. Be kind and strong. Find balance in life. "Kindness makes us better human beings, yet in this world, both good and bad people exist. It's crucial to remain cautious, as some may exploit our kindness for their own gain.

This is the first time I've written this down: I met a 12th level angel recently while trying to assist a man who had had an accident. The farmer had cuts that required stitches on his face. I tried to take him to the hospital but, as the saying goes, 'You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.' So, he wouldn't go. The night before, the angel told me afterwards, I had acquired a malevolent entity while helping a German man passed out on the sidewalk. The angel extracted the entity from me, and gave me energy. Having learned my lesson, I saw an incident just two days ago where something unfair was happening on the street. I just walked away from it because I want to retain my health and well-being. I praise God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit because I have been lucky. Naivety is a subtle thing.

Standing up for yourself is good, standing up for others is good.
    Doing both is great.
Knowing when to do each one is godly.
The story resonates with me because it's basically just my story.
Most will take this as a story of balancing kindness and strength but there are two other factors that also need to be balanced:
I needed to make sure my kindness didn't become associated weakness, and I needed to make sure my strength didn't become associated with cruelty.
Once I realize kindness is not weakness it made it really easy to intuit that strength is not cruelty. They kindness and strength, are tools and like any tool you need to properly assess the problem to know which one is appropriate.... And that part just takes trial and error... And error and error and er- OH S*** I GOT IT RIGHT THIS TIME 😂

You are also not responsible to make others to be happy. But you are responsible to make a choice to give with what you are willing to give with no expectations.

Luisa Madrigal also needs to stand up for herself and set boundaries. Luisa from encanto is constantly sacrificing her own needs, happiness and wants to help others. Luisa allows everyone to take advantage of her kindness and take her for granted. Everyone tells Luisa to do them favors, and Luisa always does what people want her to do, and even though she needs a break, she is too afraid to stand up for herself. Luisa is a submissive doormat and people pleaser who lets everyone walk all over her and doesn’t take care of herself this video reminded me exactly of her

While i understand the message the video wants to convey, it is a bit confusing.
The story's turning point is not relevant to one context (kindness).
Being kind is one thing and being cautious to be able to make good judgement is another thing.
But yes, key point is to find balance in everything we do and to add in a little caution upon our kindness .... not to limit the kindness OR not to stop helping everyone as the title mentioned it.
