Difficult to comprehend that 5 years have passed. I was blessed beyond words to sit behind sir and hear this at close quarters. Feel lile this happened just yesterday!!!
Mridangam was just amazing top class ... The girl' who sat behind Ram Prasad enjoying every bit of Tani Avarthanam ... just loved her expressions I Can see admiration in her eyes .... Shankaran sir Rocks
Sankaran mama on fire from 8:50 onwards. Ppl were spell bound, I guess. Probably the first video I ever watched N number of times and never get bored. The mirdangam part, to be specific.
The beauty of these two stalwarts is the way they make the whole art of playing their percussion instruments feel like a breeze, despite the intricacies and the relentless hours of rigourous practice and perfection they bring to the concert stage. The clarity of each 'nadai' and 'sollu' is amazing, mind-blowing. 🙏🙏🙏 at their feet 🙏🙏🙏
See how he makes shift from chaturasra and thisra effortlessly ..at the same time very pleasing to listeners...see the korvai that he played first, as listener how melodious it is...at the same time when we carefully study it, we can see true genious brain behind it...beautifully arranged mathematical patterns....great sir👏👏👏👏
Quick question from a general listener not a connoisseur..... How does the Ghatam artist remember every beat played by the Mridangam artist? Will anyone know if the Ghatam artist missed a beat??
The ghatam artist doesn’t necessarily play everything that the mridangist is playing, but sometimes we see that some of the key themes/phrases that the mridangist plays is reflected in the ghatam artist’s playing and they can use those themes as an anchor for their improvisation during their turns. My apologies if I have misstated anything.
You are correct.... God's fingers... that's all...karaikkudi is also like this...pinne old legens....all are gifted with God's fingers....I think ...👃👃👃😍

bharath bhaskaran super analysis
He had been playing for more than 50 years. True mastery.
That’s the sollukattu of Puthukottai bhani style.
In the midst of greatness (Sankaran), spare a thought for Suresh on Ghatam! Spellbound. Mind blown. Great artistes.
Terrific performance and a very energetic and tasteful audience, sounds like everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
T. Sanakaran, master of masters...it would be both inspiring and intimidating to sit with him but the Ghatam player gives a great run!
Sankaran sir!!! Percussionist par excellence. Suresh sir, another illustrious percussionist!!!!
What clarity in the strokes.. just mind boggling
Hats off to gatam vidwan. He played incredibly well
