  • Review of Einhell mitre saw. This is TC-SM 2131 model however the design is very similar to the whole family of TH-SM, TS-MS and TS-SM sliding saws.

    Thanks for your detailed review and sorry for all the problems you had discovering the issues. However, for me, this makes buying this unit 100% great deal, because as long as I know about the problems ahead of time, they are easy to compensate for. Hooking up a proper shop vacuum should take care of dust and laser issues, and there is another video where someone figured out how to adjust the laser to increase accuracy. If you can't justify spending money on a professional model, I think dealing with these problems (once you know about them) is acceptable, IMHO :) Thanks again for your detailed review!

      Thanks Mike. You are right. Especially for skilled user this would not be a major issue ordeal with. The only concern I would have in this case though is the issue of blade guard getting stuck. From what I read on Amazon I'm not the only one who experienced it and the other guy was not so lucky and got injured lightly. Thanks a lot for watching and your comment.

    Cleary, the limitations are because this is a budget device. Comments about pro's putting in the bin are nonesense as pro's wouldn't buy a cheap tool. You cannot blame the manufacturer because you didn't read the instructions. Play in the measurements are something to consider but again, this is due to the price. If you want high quality, you have to pay for it. The safety cover is a major concern though.

    I have the twin of this saw in an Aldi workzone version. It's a basic and underwhelming power tool ( but actually is very powerful at 1800watts) , but I've tweaked it a bit to get the best from it. For the problem of those ridiculous plastic pins that break on every single one of these type off saws ( if u look hard online the only place that sells the full assembly cover is always sold out of them) , I just got the cover to it's proper position, then took off the whole linkage and semi circle black cover plate....then drilled through one of the plastic pins and straight through to the outside. I then got a tiny machine bolt and nut and fastened it tight. It's been perfect since. I was tempted to do a vid but I didn't want to get sued if some idiot did it wrong lol.

    Sorry, I do like this saw, for the price it is excellent. Regarding the blade cover, I don't know what happen with yours, but using mine for a few years didn't come across this problem. Regarding the laser switch, I don't have a laser there, unfortunately, I am going to add it on. Regarding changing the saw blade without unplugging it from the wall socket, it is your fault, don't blame manufacturer that saw is not 100% idiot proofed. Maybe you shouldn't work with power tools at all.

    Hi, I bought this saw. It works great. You are right about the laser and dust issue. However, I solve the dust issue by placing a box at the back of the saw with two dust collection holes. Now all the dust falls into a bucket I have nicely affixed to the bottom. I never even attempted to use the bag since most saws have a similiar problem were more dust is outside the collection bag rather than in the bag itself. I really must thank you for highlighting the laser problem. After the first use, I thought the laser went kaputt. Will clean it and see if that solves the problem. The hard start that is tripping your breaker is not the fault of the saw but you having to change your breaker switch to something higher to accommodate the surge from the saw. I am yet to see the plastic guard stick after heavy use. It is working fine for the moment. But, I took note of what you said.

      Hi Lloyd, it is great to hear that the saw works for you better than for me and I really hope that Einhell corrected the parts prompt to failure. I like your idea for the dust issue. Thanks for constructive comment.

    • @lloydpgulston3041
      @lloydpgulston3041 4 роки тому

      @@weekendwarrior_ Hi. You are very much welcome. IF you are going to build a collection box for the sawdust, you have the build the bottom like a funnel. This will facilitate a grade by which the dust can quickly slide into one big collection hole or two. Unfortunately, I did not build my box with a grade or slant, so quite a bit of dust settles behind the two holes but the important thing is that there is no dust on my workbench or the floor. Also, I believe that the three rubber shoes at the three points of the saw might the reason why it might appear to be not level. I did not use these rubber attachments at all. My saw is bolted into attachment on my workbench and is quite level. Try doing that and see if you solve the levelling issue.

    I've had Makita and have now dewalt. Last year I bought an Einhell chopsaw (not sure of model name think it was the 1800w model). Really good, great quality, really Impressed. Around £114. I recently bought the Cordless Combi Drill PXC TE CD18-li.....£100 with 2x batts and charger. Batt indicator, Led Light and Belt clip which the DeWalt hasn't got.....infact I'm going to by more and see how they go. ...I understand circular and jigsaw do not come with the best blades as default so worth buying better blades but so far alot cheaper than other main brands and just as good

    Just bought this saw and am very pleased with it. Like any budget saw you will need to change the blade, adjust the fence with the allen key and square the blade. It will all take a few hours but once a fence and zero clearance plate are inserted it cuts very well. My laser is about 3mm off but at least off on the right side of the cutline. I do not mind this as the cutline is on the zero insert plate, or simply some tape in my case. If you put some tape down the middle, cut it, then square the fence to the cutline with a 300mm square you will sort most of the problems. I had to move my fence to a position where only two nuts will tighten but it has got it square. As for the guard my theory is people are pulling the saw down before they have opened the black lever properly. I don't see how anything can break if you open the lever fully first.

    For the price, I can live with those issues. In some cases it's simply a case of RTFM (e.g. the laser switch). Re the blade casing, I always use glasses and gloves anyway. As someone else said, you can offset these issues quite easily and you will get a reasonable tool for next to nothing compared to the bigger brands. It's less than £100 at Toolstation at the moment. Bonza! :)

    Congrets for your judgements - totally agreed from my side: I've got this saw on my workbench from a friend for a service. I've met all problems you're talking. And I've found the fence screws loose. So I've checked the 90° allignment between sawblade and fence. By doing this I've measured the fence beeing curved by 0.2mm and reacting sensitive to the friction torque while fixing the bolts.
    The miter saw I own is a elu ps174 - no plastic - wide xsections - much more sturdy and functional but smaller board xsection cutting capacity compared to this china (scheppach?) design, which is sold under several brand names. (The recent price for a used elu is ~€100 - i bought mine in 1997 for DM 700 - still cutting like new).
    best regards from Germany 😉

This is the best sliding miter saw you can get pricewise. Otherwise you would end up paying 200 to 500 euros for something that is probably a little better or the same.

    I was so close to taking this back... until I saw your review … I couldn't get the laser to work doh … its the switch with no label .. true einhell instructions are lacking somewhat .. I also have the table saw .. that also gets a slating :) if im honest both are the best money ive spent in a while.. they both take a little adjusting but what machinery doesn't and they are both well and truly overpowered in fact a little scary in a good way :) but what they both do is cut wood like its butter and now very accurately.. might I recommend a little time with screwfix's own brand titan … then you will know what bad is (with the exception of the titan track saw that's awesome) I like the name too the mitre saw from hell :) goes with the red :)

  • @christopherfairfowl5521

    You get what you pay for. Always read the manual, it says clearly the switch is for the laser - not the saw. The clamp has a black locking screw on the post for quick height setting, then you wind down the clamp 1-2 turns. The saw needs setting up properly, checked and perhaps tweaked a little but it is a good saw once you get it set up. A professional would spend a great deal more on his tools he wouldn’t buy the cheapest would he?

    I just bought it other day, only give a piece of wood a cut to make sure it worked, seemed powerful
    I thought a couple of things looked a bit cheap and I'm not sure if I trust the markings on it, but that's not really a buggy for me as it can be adjusted for

      Jusb1066 tkanks again for the comment Jusb. I do agree with you. It is just I hear a lot that for the beginners cheaper tools would do, but that is often not the case. Cheap often means (not aleays) that it cannot do accurate job or is much more difficult to do it which for a person that needs more help due to lack of experience is real issue. This was the case with this saw too. It not only slowed me down, created some health risks but also made me go through the hassle of sending it back to the manufacturer who didn't even bother to provide any detail of repair or anything.

    It's not that bad of a saw actually. Yes, I have to admit that I almost lost two fingers because I forced the plastic a bit too much and it got caught up in the blade and ripped itself and launched itself at me in the process almost cutting off my two fingers, but it cuts 45' angles well, it turns smoothly, brushes are beefy, motor is pure copper and it's made from cast aluminum so it's lightweight. I have seen Matrix mitre saws, NOW THOSE ARE SHIT. This is more of a newbie/beginner type of improved shit with a few benefits when you broke but you need saw to work so you buy cheap saw. After a year you get a makita and you are as happy as any other guy. But I think this is a great beginner mitre saw.

    Modelo 2534: Girando o prato para a esquerda (isto é, sentido horário) ele não chega a 45 graus. Só vai até +/- 30 graus. Pode me dizer se isso é normal ou um defeito ?

      Muito obrigado. De repente destravou-se e foi até 45.. Talvez foi falta de lubrificante. Tbm foi dificil puxar o pino de transporte. Tive que usar WD40 e um pino de madeira martelado.

    Jesus. For £130. IT'S A STEAL. IMO, all its cuts - compound 45% - were bang on. As Jusb1066 says pay £700 and get a Festool.

    • @weekendwarrior_
      @weekendwarrior_  6 років тому

      Michael Read thanks for the comment Michael. I think Festool is amazing but I wouldn't be able to justify it if you know what I mean.

    • @nicholaslong3100

      It isn't a bargain if the base is uneven, the cuts aren't accurate and the major safety feature - the blade guard - is defective.
      Get a Festool for 700 roubles. Great advice.... for people who have 700 to spare.

    I can tell you I own 2 mitre saws and there all similar... There not really precision cutting tools.. There designed for fast carpentry, more for framing than flooring. For framing there perfect, for thin materials like skirting and flooring there are better tools for the job..

    this is a low budget mitre saw, what did you expect? If you need super precise cuts and not for general work then don't skimp and invest £500-700 into a proper one.

    You should point out, You are reveiwing a Cheap Budget Saw, and for the Price you pay for this model, It actually is very good value for the novice/part timer DIYer. It is NOT a professional model, It is just a Good, Budget, Ocacasional use Mitre Saw, I feel you are too harsh with your reveiw title, "Mitre Saw from Hell" It definetly Not, But a very good value Budget saw. Try paying more for your saw for what you need it for, But for the beginner/DIYer woodworker This saw is idea, and Better than you make out.

    If we buy something "cheap" we can't expect it to have the construction quality and features of equipment that cost 3, 4, 5 times more. We get what we pay for. Then there are features, at this level of machines, that don't have a " very precise " operation as it comes from the factory ( which happens with all brands and all equipment in this price range) but that with some skill and some adjustments can easily be corrected and make the machine much better, skills that you don't seem to have. A meaningless video.
