As is often, it has taken me days to listen to all, especially since I had 30 hour power cut due to more wild weather. LML suggests that Marwyn is going to take at least one of the four glass candles in the citadel to Danaerys in Slaver's Bay to help show her Ashai as Quaith also used a glass candle to tell her to go there.
I like that theory. It's simple and makes sense.
I always say ASOIAF is the War and Piece of the phantasy genre. Amazing writing, character development and story telling.

The main problem with the lack of technological advancement is the irregular seasons. There needs to be savings and capital accumulation to allow for investment in research. The long winters make it very difficult to save and plan for the future. This is why you see places like the North vs Westerlands or the Reach being poorer.
The North lack investment and capital was due to incompetent leadership on the Starks part. They could’ve built greenhouses made of glass or paper to lessen the impact of the weather on agriculture. Breeding and taming 🦣 for meat, agriculture and pack animals as well as reindeer and 🐗 . Building and selling ships, establishing sell sword companies and establishing a central 🏦.
To answer the question of what Ned would have done if Jon had targ looks. I think he would have left him with the Daynes and they would have tried to raise him as a Dayne. Given their looks are similar to targs they could have passed him off as one.
Also the Daynes i think were surely involved in the whole Rhaegar/Lyanna/Prince that was promised saga. When Ned took Dawn back to Starfall they probably hashed everything out and figured out what to do with the baby, what to do with Ashara, and all that. They probably decided together that Ned would take Jon and if his looks were different, i think they would have kept him and raised him there.
Absolutely - Jon could have been passed off as the “late” Ashara’s baby.
I think it would have been awesome because maybe if it was know that there was a baby involved at the tower of joy then Ned may have swapped him for a Dayne child and called him his bastard that would make Jon a Dayne so he could weild dawn against the others.
HBO is missing a great opportunity if they don’t do a spin-off of Euron Greyjoy’s travels.

why couldn't Ned trust his wife about Jon?
He didn’t know her. They just wed and spent a week together. So he kept the secret and as time passed it just became easier to keep the secret. Plus Cat is compulsive
"Three can keep a secret... if two of them are dead." If you want something to remain a secret, you don't tell ANYONE about it. Cat might not just blurt it out, but if her life or the lives of her children were on the line, would she keep her mouth shut then? And Ned (presumably) promised his dying sister to tell nobody - that's not something he would break lightly (or apparently, at all). Though Howland Reed presumably learned when Ned did.
@@johnpotts8308 I have a suspicion that Howland knew Lyanna was pregnant before Ned found out.
Catelyn dislikes Jon for reasons other than simply him being a bastard. His birth is the result of lyanna and rhaegar hooking up, which was the catalyst for her original fiance getting himself killed. Jon being Lyannas son doesnt fully remove him from succession, it actually might put him closer to it (legitimate stark would probably inherent before a bastard). In fact, now his existance is a threat to her family because bobby b would be pissed about it. Not sure she would spill those beans, but I don't think it would make her more fond of him lol

i dont think theres enough information on most of the places in witcher/lotr, it would be a very short series compared to Asoiaf travellers guide with only about 5 towns described in any detail in the witcher and only light detail in those, and not too many more in lotr that i can think of
He said about copyright or something making a LOTR guide impossible.

Why is Fantasy mainly about monarchies (I wouldn't say "pro" monarchy). Because fantasy generally (I will say "not exclusively" and still get comments saying "not exclusively") contains magic and magic is generally (see previous disclaimer) portrayed in a setting that, in the real world would be described as medieval or at least pre-industrial.

In terms of strategic marriages if I was Hoster I would’ve married Edmure to Margery. If I was Ned I would’ve married Robb to Myrcella Baratheon Sansa to Willas Tyrell Jon to a lady of Bear Isle and Bran to Meera Reed. The northern lords wouldn’t complain to much about marrying outsiders because one was a king’s daughter and granddaughter to the richest man in the kingdom and the 2nd was heir to high garden and one day the 2nd richest man in the kingdom.
Im very disappointed in you Robert. When grading Stannis' resume, you rated him as competent. The only way you could reach that conclusion is because you omitted his finest acomplishment, when he defeated the Ironborn at sea! Stannis or the Barathreons in general were never known to be as good at navel warfare as the Ironborn, or even the Redwines or Valeryons, and the Ironborn had just demolished the Lannister fleet, they were bad ass! Yet young Stannis smashed them! Id venture to say he is among the three finest living military tacticians along with Randal Tarley and the Blackfish. But out of the Whispering Wood, the Battle Of Ashford, amd the battle of Fair Isle, Fair Isle was either the most impressive or at least tied with the other two as most impressive.

By allowing D and D to finish his story, now it's like it's done so IMO GRRM is not Tolkien and has not created a fantasy series that is complete
