Bondrewd is one of the best antagonists. You can see why he does what he does even if you don't agree with it, he does it for science, to learn more about the abyss itself. He also lets those he takes in have somewhat of a nice life and lets them enjoy it for a little while before his experiments. He does not take pleasure in anything he does, he can't anyways, he is not human anymore, he sacrificed his body to get his own white whistle. Bondrewd is a one of a kind antagonist, that's for sure. By the way they confirmed a new season 2 a bit ago. I assume late 2021.
He's literally just unrestricted science at this point. Not really good or evil, its just if things require horrendous acts in order to learn more about them, he will not hesitate.

there's a lot more lore in the manga for the relics and creatures that gets kinda glossed over in the movie, if you decide to read it. also there are some(4) OVA of Ozen and Marulk that came out with the movie, just an FYI.
Bondrewd's morality is akin to that of a farmer. Imagine, you raising a cute rabbits for their fur and meat. You treat them nicely, you feeding them, you healing them if they become ill. It could be said that you love them... But you know that one day you had to butcher and skin them.

Bondrewd is a very interesting villain because it's not as if he is "evil". He does things not to be a bad person, but to continue advancing forward. The issue is he has been down in the abyss for so long he has practically lost all of what it means to have a human viewpoint in terms of what is considered going to far for advancement. And it certainly doesn't help that to even become a white whistle already required a sacrifice, so that world is already driven by the idea of sacrifice given that white whistles are essentially the voices they tend to follow since they are closest to the abyss in a sense. That moment he learn about the white whistles is the moment you realize, it's not just bondrewd who has this way of thinking in that world.
Made in abyss for me is one of my top 3 anime EVER PROB My Favorite anime ever. It's just Soo unique this anime doesn't get distracted by anything, an amazing plot and story., It's just the best 😅 I love your reactions specially the sencerety and honesty of riko 🤣
Just to reiterate, a layer in the abyss doesn't only span 1,000 meters! If I remember correctly, the lowest part of the Fifth Layer is at 13,000 meters, but it isn't called the Thirteenth layer.

I'm not sure about the English Dub, but Miyu Tomita, Mariya Ise, and Shiori Izawa all returned to voice their characters as did Toshiyuki Morikawa. Unfortunately, the next story arc from the manga is still ongoing (though I believe it has reached its climax) which means it may take a while to be animated. Also, it's kind of a weird story that might not work well in an animated format, but the same could be said for the first few chapters of the manga and the screenplay did a great job so I'm not too worried. Probably be another year of two at least unless they decide to add scenes they cut from the film and turn the Ido Front arc into a 2nd Season.
this movie is so underrated, the time just flies by from start to finish.yesterday i watched the Demon Slayer movie and while it was certainly good especially the end, it was not the overall experience i got from this movie
I don't think it's the best idea to read the manga before it is finished. This is pretty much because the release of chapters from this writer is very slow. Every chapter is many months apart. However, if you feel like you can deal with that then it would be great to see your reactions to the manga.
It sucks that the layers got messed up about 55 mins in. But otherwise good video! I watched this movie like 5 times in three days. The manga is just as crazy.
