3:02 "Pull off all the legs." I WONDER WHY ALL THE BALLJOINTS ARE SO LOOSE? MAYBE BECAUSE YOU ARE STRESSING THEM EVERY TIME YOU RIP THEM OFF HHHMMMMMMM??? ITS A MYSTERY!
"why would a spider be shiny and chromy?" Same reason as why a cheeta, a rat, a t-rex, and all the other transmetals are shiny and chrome; that's how transmetals are.
The robot arms in the front of the beast mode are called pedipalps. They're essentially what would be a scorpions claws, but for spiders they're an important part of feeding and mating
got this at the weekend and I love it! I'm really into all the beast era at the moment and for me I love the spider mode and chrome. they had a great style that needs to be revisited soon. like your reviews dude.
Those arms at the front of the beast mode are called pedipalps. All arachnids have them. Most spiders just keep them close to their body almost all the time, so you rarely see them extended and in use.
I own the SDCC Arcee variant of this mold and I don't have any of the problems you described on this video, joints are actually pretty good on mine. I actually like this figure a lot.
i found one MiB while visiting japan last year.. now its on my fambot display.. been searching for this more then 10 years. part of me wanted to open it but part of me want to keep it sealed in the box..
A mould of this figure was known as the infamous nipple transformer, underneath the chest were two unfortunately placed peg holes xD. I think it got recalled though.
Hasbro executive: Guys, the butt of the spider cannot be her butt, it’s too bulky Hasbro employee: why don’t we turn it into these massive shoulders? Hasbro executive: GENIUS MARK
here's a little tip for those pesky ball joints. This is what I did on a lot of my old figures before I lost them in a fire. I would take a little piece of paper and stuff it into the joint and attach it. This made the joints tighter and kept the appendages on the toy.
You could always try heating up the plactic on the leg (like holding it infront of a fan heater for a minute till you feel the plastic almost begin to get hot) and squeeze/compress the joint smaller so that grips the ball and or line/layer the ball joint with super glue to make it bigger. My advice DON'T keep removing the pieces from the ball joints as that fatigues them out!
not on all of them, after parental complaints they were glues in place in prduction, i managed to git it off of mine, but now there are 2 holes placed like niples... its weird looking
the wheel is for its vehicle mode. yes some how its has a vehicle mode. I don't remember I think I use to have Trans-metal one version where I think he is a bike or something.
If I had to guess what the spinning sections on the sides of the spider mode are for... I'd say that they're either part of a vehicle mode this toy has, or the relics of a vehicle mode that was lost in translation.
The joints are loose you can brush a thin layer of uv resin on it or nail polish so it snap in better. It's prob too late the Transmetal master piece will be releasing soon
Based on the placement I'd say the robot arms are meant to be pedipalps. One problem, though: A.) they don't look like pedipalps in the least, and B.) pedipalps are male sex organs. Then again, the Beast Machines figure had them too.
arachnids only have 8 legs...some have 2 mouth-parts or other appendages that can grow longer but serve only in feeding and not walking...ie crabs have claws that aren't included in leg count...
You should use glue on the ball joints to tighten them up. Modelers do it all the time. A few thin layers of glue after it dries, BAM brand new ball joint. Also pulling off the legs like that are probably part of the reason the ball joints are loose as hell.
They weren't necessarily loose they just weren't tight either. For comparison its like if the weight of TFP Prime's body had to be supported by 8 of his smoke stacks if they were on 2 ball joints, its too heavy to work. IMO the legs were entirely there to fit the look of a beast mode but never practically served as legs.
Now I will agree yes the kibble on the shoulders & the back can make her quite back heavy but the case of the joints in the legs you make it sound like they are all bad & nothing redeeming I disagree as the one I own is quite tight in the legs & even though I have to use the 2 spiders legs to hold her balance that's just cause of the weight not cause of loose joints Also I highly disagree with your thoughts on her getting a Transmetal 2 body as it was to show her Character Growth & Evolution
Took me forever to find one back in 1999. She won't stand, mainly because of the weight of the figure. Many multilegged beast formers often have this problem.
This is one figure that really needs a revamp, if only to get something more show accurate. The problem is... As you said, she really didn't NEED to become a transmetal 2 in the show. I like the episodes where it happens, but then she does basically nothing afterwards in it. So there's basically no demand for this version of the character.
I was wondering why you lacked your usual enthusiasm at the beginning of the review, and having completed it I understand why. I am still interested in this figure, but I am glad for the warnings. Can I ask why you got it if you dont like spiders? Just curious
Just for knowledge's sake, the back section of spiders and insects is called the abdomen. The thorax is the middle section in insects (the head is the first section), and spiders and most other arachnids have a fused head and thorax, called the cephalothorax. :D
"why would a spider be shiny and chromey" looks like you have never heard of the mirror spider before... also you didn't seem to have issue with transmetal tarantulas, which as you said, was your favorite figure AND a spider
I just got this for $20 today and quite like it - to me, the main problem is her high heels give no support. If she'd had heel spurs like most modern TFs, she'd probably stand ok on her own. And, of course, the hips from the "gimmick." As is, I've gotta use the spider legs to help prop her up too. But she looks great if not completely show accurate. Close enough, considering the era.
Mine is still perfectly fine. I can't believe you take off her spider legs to transform it. -___- To anyone who wants it, I strongly recommend it, it's easily one of the best transformers ever.
I actually don't mind this figure, particularly with the whole flipping sides gimmick. you don't normally get a figure like that. last i recall was cybertron sideways.
It seems like that the only GOOD Blackarachnia figures are the Beast Machines and Animated figures. (The Legends one is just a retooling of the TFA figure and thus isn't her own figure)
I dislike your disdain for spiders. But i share your opinion on this figure i have spent years trying to get this figure to do anything other then fall down.
+Steven Dolce That's not how Cybertronian reproduction works. Though, one particular method does involve merging a portion of the sparks of two or more transformers to make a new spark. There are more methods than that, though. Some of it actually gets explained in the MTMTE comics.
Spada, if you take a look at a Camel spider or a Huntsmen, I think I can see what kind of a look they where going for. Especially looking at a Camel spider. These creature don't use webs and have 'huge' fangs for pouncing on and piercing their prey. Also never understood why they felt both female beast wars figures needed an armor mode. Especially Black Arachnia. Though your the first person I watched review this figure make note of it.So I learned something new today. XD
I collected a lot of these guys back then. I leave mine in their beast mode and transform them whenever I feel like posing them and firing their missiles at some Lego displays. But yeah, Transmetal II Blackarachnia's balance isn't very good. 😮💨
I'm sorry but I cannot agree with you on this one, we are talking about one of the few shows that put the character as the main thing and the toy in second place and more often than not that will result in toys struggling to keep up with their animated counterpart and I can't help to appreciate the effort. Aside from that I can tell you that making a good looking toy of something as peculiar as something that looks organic-ish in a mode and robot-ish in the other (especially in non-bulky and-or bizzarre lloking figures) while not making the toy cost 100$ is damn hard. Honestly I think we had WAY worse figures and sometime people forget of how much technology, even in toy-building, has progressed and I found incredibly hypocritical sayng that G1 toys are incredibly good with a vintage touch when they were basically bricks with close-to-none articulation and then state thet Beast Wars toys are crap... really? Again, I'm sorry but we cannot agree this time, I'm not telling that this Blackarachnia is awesome or anything, personally I much prefer the TFA one, but stating this is awful and things like that is way too much.
3:02 "Pull off all the legs." I WONDER WHY ALL THE BALLJOINTS ARE SO LOOSE? MAYBE BECAUSE YOU ARE STRESSING THEM EVERY TIME YOU RIP THEM OFF HHHMMMMMMM??? ITS A MYSTERY!
Forrest Estes a year late but Balt is basically the damage control reviewer 😂
"why would a spider be shiny and chromy?"
Same reason as why a cheeta, a rat, a t-rex, and all the other transmetals are shiny and chrome; that's how transmetals are.
lmao baltmatrix pretty much makes a big deal out of everything he doesnt like about a figure.
I honestly wonder if he should stop collecting transformers lmao
IKR. That's a weird as heck complaint to make about a Transmetal figure. They're supposed to look bizarre.
oh quiet you
🤫🤐
And he never mentioned the infamous chest plate error....
The robot arms in the front of the beast mode are called pedipalps. They're essentially what would be a scorpions claws, but for spiders they're an important part of feeding and mating
I know I'm in the minority, but I just love everything about this figure. I just wish I could find mine.
You forgot the "strip her top off" gimmick lol
Tim5corpion haha XD
They removed that in later copies by either a)gluing the top on or b)molding those parts together
Haha
Gross.
@@MrsDizazter
Aww that sucks 😫
This figure desperately needs an update when they get to it in Generations and everything in the next couple of years
I don’t think the Kingdom line is doing the Transmetals and Fuzors
@@epicphantom589 I know, emphasis on "in the next couple of years". We know what's gonna be in kingdom
@@chadderbug7587 Ok. Yeah, I would like to see a new transmetal Blackarachnia with a better design
Imagine if they had ditched the kicking gimmick and they had used the spider legs to create the robot mode legs or arms to reduce kibble.
got this at the weekend and I love it! I'm really into all the beast era at the moment and for me I love the spider mode and chrome. they had a great style that needs to be revisited soon. like your reviews dude.
Hotrodney prime Well fancy seeing you here lol :)
Is the figure really that loose or is that just Balt's copy?
Those arms at the front of the beast mode are called pedipalps. All arachnids have them. Most spiders just keep them close to their body almost all the time, so you rarely see them extended and in use.

Wait, I’m confused. Does she have a 3rd mode or was that “defense mode” thing it? 8:56
Blackarachnia was among my personal favorite characters in BW and that alone makes me like this figure.
A mould of this figure was known as the infamous nipple transformer, underneath the chest were two unfortunately placed peg holes xD. I think it got recalled though.
It's amazing how opinions change dramatically.(according to your description)
Hasbro executive: Guys, the butt of the spider cannot be her butt, it’s too bulky
Hasbro employee: why don’t we turn it into these massive shoulders?
Hasbro executive: GENIUS MARK
Lol!
No, the part he pointed at was the abdomen. The cephalothorax is the region that all the legs are connected to.
here's a little tip for those pesky ball joints. This is what I did on a lot of my old figures before I lost them in a fire. I would take a little piece of paper and stuff it into the joint and attach it. This made the joints tighter and kept the appendages on the toy.
I can confirm that this works. Poor old Deadend was floppy as a frog before I gave him the paper therapy.
I'm so sorry for your lost :c
You could always try heating up the plactic on the leg (like holding it infront of a fan heater for a minute till you feel the plastic almost begin to get hot) and squeeze/compress the joint smaller so that grips the ball and or line/layer the ball joint with super glue to make it bigger.

She was my favorite beast wars figure.
the wheel is for its vehicle mode. yes some how its has a vehicle mode. I don't remember I think I use to have Trans-metal one version where I think he is a bike or something.
"This thing terrifies me,". Me:"I'm hoping it doesn't jump out of my screen"
isn't the chest plate removeable
Only the first run, Hasbro later "corrected" that design "flaw".
And the back "bulb" on spiders is the abdomen. The front is the cephalothorax which is the head and thorax fused.
to reattach the leg you could use floor polish to tighten the ball joint
BTW, why get excited over a spider toy if you hate them in real life?
With Black archnia being so loose no wonder all da guys like her ~lol
"rimshot"
she is hot
Have you tried applying a light coat of super glue to the ball joints?
When it comes to Beast Wars designs, and I loved most of them, this version of Blackarachnia is the only one I did not like.
you know, black widow spider are becoming to be very deadly now.
If I had to guess what the spinning sections on the sides of the spider mode are for... I'd say that they're either part of a vehicle mode this toy has, or the relics of a vehicle mode that was lost in translation.
did you knew that the chest "armor" can be removed and it two hole at a very... awkward place. just letting you know if you don't
This is one of the transmetal 2 figures that I always wanted to own.
Why did they make it possible to remove her chest armor? Tj omega told about it
The joints are loose you can brush a thin layer of uv resin on it or nail polish so it snap in better. It's prob too late the Transmetal master piece will be releasing soon
They have a vehicle kinda mode right?
Based on the placement I'd say the robot arms are meant to be pedipalps. One problem, though: A.) they don't look like pedipalps in the least, and B.) pedipalps are male sex organs. Then again, the Beast Machines figure had them too.
perhaps it's something along the lines of how tigatron had a female beast mode. perhaps blackarachnia had a male spider body.
Actually, both sexes have pedipalps, it's just that on the males the tips are enlarged like clubs, while they're uniform in thickness on females.
@@DarkdustDragon that's why when spiders mate they go fisting.
arachnids only have 8 legs...some have 2 mouth-parts or other appendages that can grow longer but serve only in feeding and not walking...ie crabs have claws that aren't included in leg count...

Glue or liquid rubber

Took me forever to find one back in 1999. She won't stand, mainly because of the weight of the figure. Many multilegged beast formers often have this problem.
I never saw Blackarachnia in any store when I was a kid. Ever. And...maybe that's a blessing in disguise, to be honest...

The spinning bits are most likely for the vehicle mode
i have this figure and have all the same complaints but i like her robot mode
The robot arms are pedipalps and the "mandibles" are chelicerae, which are the "fangs" of spiders.
oh yeah, HEY Balt, if you put superglue around those ball joints then it should tighten then right up, maybe regular glue
If you turn all the legs' first segments over so that the socket faces down, she can stand on her legs.
So is this better or worse than the Prime RID Airachnid?
Not to criticize you but the part you were talking about in the beginning were you said the back is the thorax but it is called an abdomen
Just scored one off of ebay and I love it. Been collecting a lot of blackarachnia figures lately. Each creepier than the last.
Have you seen her robotopless

I have this one but i lost a leg and the gun
I can't find the same leg too!
She doesn't have a transport mode?
I have this mint in box. When I got her she was super rare and I just never took her out of the packaging.
She looks so much better once you undo the torso and remove the purple chest plate.
The fuzors and transmetal 2 lines always reminded me of The Fly remake. horrible monstrosities you don't want to look at, but can't look away either.
No mention of her chest plate issues?
Always wanted this figure, then I bought the new Transart version and I havent looked back. I have a review on my channel if you want to see it
Question: Has Hasbro ever made a spider not suck?
"why would a spider be shiny and chromey" looks like you have never heard of the mirror spider before... also you didn't seem to have issue with transmetal tarantulas, which as you said, was your favorite figure AND a spider
Speaking of, why didn't he mention it, why didn't you, Spada?
I loved spiders as a kid because of this toy! Blackarachnia had one of the coolest beast modes ever in my opinion
While watching this I was scared to bump my monitor as I thought it would just make the figure fall haha. I am an idiot I know.
DX why do the shoulder pads look like the Quebely?
Also, Tamashii stands were made for her.

2:40 those are called pedipalps. They're basically arms to hold prey during a meal.
Nathan Laughlin don't they also use them in mating?
Actually yes they're basically penises
Nathan Laughlin so when I thought this huge spider was biting me with them...
🙂*internal screaming*
I got fucked by a spider😐
I think pulling the legs off to transform it over and over again may have contributed to the wear of that ball joint
hotter then along came the spider
Sorry I ment to say where you said not were you said
No she's not wierd she's cool
The 2 claws in front are legs (arachnids have 10 legs)
