Hands down max running was hands down the most epic scene in all of stranger things when she dropped to the ground, and she looked up at the portal with so much fear, but yet so much hope and determination to get back to her friends. Such an amazing scene. Wow just wow.
I had tears streaming from my face because I thought she was the first kill from the main cast! The song is just perfect for the scene and Max running for her life!

@@dennisostapenko531 I'm talking about the last ep of the season, in vol.2 which'll be 2 hours 40 mins long which'll most likely end on the biggest cliff hanger or have an insane ending to then carry on into season 5
Personally I felt like the scene was about suicidal thoughts. The Vecna went after people who were traumatized and had a feeling of guilt. Right before he brutally murders them, he invites them to join him; as if he's trying to convince them. He offers them to end their suffering. In this case he's the personification of those suicidal thoughts. The voice that says to give up. But with Max, in this scene, it's clear that her friends were there to help her (Lucas in particular being very patient even expressing guilt for not trying hard enough to communicate with her at one point). Even though she previously refused to open up to them. The music was a little light burning in the very dark place she found herself in. Bringing back memories/flashbacks (something music is known for) that clearly meant to convey one message: "life is beautiful and worth living". The song is a perfect choice in that regard. It's about two partners not understanding one another (in particular because of the man-woman difference, but exchange that with trauma, depression or feelings of guilt) and how the singer would make a deal with god to swap places so that they'd understand each other better. Also note the letters. That very much resembles suicide notes.
Mhm. And if you remember, Billy says to her that at night she wished to meet him in death. Meaning she wished to die. Suicidal thoughts. But when 001 did his little flash back speech, he said he could see people's thoughts and memories. Meaning, it's almost like it, how penywise gets stronger when people are afraid, when the victims are weaker its easier to take there souls/lives. So he sees into there head and finds what hurts them the most. What hits the deepest. The most personal way possible to get to the victim to make them weaker. Something they never recovered from. Something that makes them weak, so they find themselves stuck where they are so Vecna can take them. But Max found herself realizing life's still worth living so she escaped. The others weren't as lucky to me that strong. For example, Vecna uses guilt to antagonize the victims. How he tried to make Nancy overwhelmed with guilt that she killed barb, to find her weakness then get to her? We didn't get to see how that ended I this half, but I'm curious to see what Nancy does to get herself out of there.
Absolutely agree ! I feel like unlike the others monsters in ST, Vicna was ‘’human’’ for a very profound reason. It was an analogy for something dark that also happens in real life, when you get swallow into the darkness and depression. Watching this season I really could feel a deeper meaning to the whole story and that was incredibly well done. This season gotta be the most horrific but also the most mature as we see the kids facing some difficult challenges. Really the best season so far.
in my opinion “dear billy” was the best episode by far, and that scene where max was running was leaving people on edge, and bringing out people emotions leaving me almost screaming this was hands down amazing
The way this song goes so well with how she was feeling towards the situation w Billy but chose to stay alive after having those flashbacks of everyone. Cinematic I stg
Not even exaggerating, this is the best use of a song in a tv show/movie ever. Just the way it fit, the deeper and implied meanings, there’s just so many ways that it’s perfect for this scene
First time ever hearing this song and its amazing, but it'd be even more amazing if we get got the ACTUAL Stranger Things version of this song (with the violin and extra drums playing during the main hook while Max is running) it'd be even better.

trigger warning ⚠️⚠️⚠️ I cried so much in this scene not only because I thought Max was gonna die but because of the central message it wants to show the viewers. It hit me personally. I interpreted Max's arc in this new season as isolation and ptsd that lead to deep depression. Just like how it was portrayed in this scene where she seem to have completely given up on herself (saying goodbye, giving farewell letters, accepting her demise) When Vecna said "they (her friends) can't help you because you push them away, you belong here (in this darkness) with me" that's how exactly it felt when I went to a major isolation because of depression. I pushed everyone away because I felt like I didn't deserve to be looked after and I was only a burden. And it'll be better if I'm not around. But in the last moments when I thought of just leaving everything behind, the memories with my love ones and friends flash before my eyes. And I couldn't do it. What choice do I have but to fight back from that moment. Just like how Max remember all her friends and their moments together. The way she ran desperately and at the same time hopefully towards the gaping gate to reach them. In the end she realized there's still something left on her to fight for. I dislike how some fans lump this moment as "oohh power of friendship wins!", I know it's for jokes but I wish more people will see the in-depth portrayal of mental illness in ST4.
😭😭 this whole episode was so beautiful yet sad! I've been there too and just seeing her fight back and not give up made me relieved and so happy. I'm glad a lot of people are seeing the deep meaning and message of that scene and whole episode.
This is exactly how I felt about this ending as well. At first I thought I was just projecting my own feelings on the show, but from reading the comments I a clearly not alone. I wish you all the best and hope we can keep fighting this!
I personally think this episode (4X4) was the best episode of stranger things from season 1 till 4. Every storyline was perfect in this episode. Joyce and Murray had a humerus storyline as murray conquers his demons and faces yuri with courage after Joyce encourages him, even though most of his opponents have been young boys. On the other hand, we see sadness in all the other storylines. Hopper escapes after breaking his foot and we see a brief moment of joy as he eats peanut butter and thinks he is free. It’s an emotional scene as hopper gets to feel at home after being trapped in the prison for such a long time. However, His freedom was short lived and his storyline returns to the gloomy Russian environment. Nancy and robin find out about the heartbreaking story of the old creel guy (forgot his name lol) will, Mike and Johnathan go through a tough time escaping till their house eventually gets bombed. The cinematography in this scene is amazing and the reactions of the cast seem genuine as Johnathan the older brother tries to protect will and Mike. Argyles enterance is refreshing and gives the sad storyline which has been continuing throughout the episode a break and his character really adds a bit of joy to the show. The scene with max, Dustin, Lucas and Steve is amazing. Steve is obviously acting like the overprotective babysitter as he always does as he immediately rushes towards max at the moment she needed them the most. Max’s speech for billy is also really emotional. Vecna is terrifying in this episode as he walks slowly towards max as he knows she has no chance at escaping. I think Lucas deserves a bit of credit here too for remembering max’s favourite song which clearly shows he is far from over her. Max’s montage shown as running up the hill plays is amazing. It truly shows how valuable max is as a character. Max lifts up as soon as the chorus is about to start which was the perfect moment as it creates such suspense and makes the moment so intense. Max’s running is perfectly synchronised with the music and the black screen that plays when she comes closer to the gate is perfect because no one knows if she made it or not
Alex Charakas Nah, I feel like S4 is ramping up to be the best one yet, there’s still 7 episodes left that’ll come out on July 1st, and Vecna is the best villain yet by far.
The perfect representation of someone screaming for help to scape from hell. All the mud, sweat, despair, and hope. Best scene ever. I stopped to watch the next episodes and I'm just repeating the part where she's running to save her life.
This song made me think of all people in my life. Made me think about the precious moments I have in life with those i care the most for, and how eventually they along with me will die. Seeing that scene made me appreciate life more and not to dwell in the bad moments and cherish the good. I might be the only who felt that way though lol.
Just watched that episode today and god damn.......dont think i've ever been hit that hard watching TV. That last 15 or so minutes was beyond words. Watched that scene twice again after. Also didnt skip the credits cause this song plays with so much more emotion and hits harder. Well done the Duffer Bros....spellbinding
This scene was so raw and true for me. I really resonated with max slipping into this depression because all of her trauma, feeling like it was too much and not opening up because you know people won’t understand. She’s been trying to hard to adjust to her ever changing environment. It’s hard, and I’m glad they conveyed it as such. But it isn’t impossible, max showed us it isn’t. She showed us to hold on to that love and to run straight ahead for it. Amazing and powerful. I feel like I’ve slipped into this version of myself I’m not too familiar with lately. Maybe lost sight of why I wake up in the morning. And max did too. Lost sight that is, yet found it again in the moments you’d never think twice of. She was reminded of how much love she has for her friends, and how much they love her. Sometimes distance will make you momentarily forget but just because you are far from those you love does not mean that love is lost. It remains, and it burns bright like a flame in a dark room. And when you’re all alone, in death’s grip, you can call upon that flame, that everlasting love. To extinguish your demons, and fight one last time.
Thank you for sharing this ❤️ It means so much to hear this reflection. I feel the same way about this powerful character and this story being portrayed in this incredible manner
This was absolutely hands down without a doubt the most BEAUTIFUL works of art I've seen in film making and acting! The way Saide was able to express such vivid emotions made me feel like I was there!! And THATS what I like about stranger things franchise. You feel a connection with the actors!
Max Mayfield is just so well written in season-4. Her determination to live, the memories, the HAPPY memories of her life. STRANGER THINGS HAS OUTDONE ITSELF. This scene was phenomenal. What a Cinematography! By far, the best. THE BEST. Period.
This was my favorite scene of the show. The music + the intensity of emotions are on the next level. I cried so much after this scene and im so glad that Max made it out alive and well! ❤️
I know this season isn’t over yet, but not Max having the best scene this season, truly mind blowing it was one of those things that could’ve gone either way
remember that in this moment, when Max began thinking about her friends, and physically fighting back and running to them, how desperately she wanted to live. A stark contrast from the remarks that Vecna made towards her, how she wished she followed Billy into death, how she wished for suicide.
Though I don't know how I feel about season 4, this scene brought me back to all those epic montages from the previous seasons. The flipping of the van from season one, the long shot of everyone standing together in season two, the firework mall scene in season three, plus all the other epic shots from the whole show in general. That feeling max got from her flashbacks was what I felt when watching this scene but with those epic moment shots or flashbacks of former seasons. A full circle, flashing before my eyes, all at stake, in one instant, life in front of you, death behind you. Masterpiece
They use this song so perfectly I even got goosebumps when they slowly zoom out while they hug max and they use the piano instrumental even inspired me to learn it aha I love this show srly
I couldn't belive what I was feeling. I was choked up and about to shed tears. The montages of her best memories are what we all should hold near and dear. The best moments with the ones we love best.
this scene really got me, in the end, more people (Chrissy and Fred) could have been saved by having friends that (like Lucas said) look hard enough ... It can be a powerful metaphor for people struggling with stuff. Be there, Vecna won't be here but losing someone it's real
The season gets better and better. 80s kid here. Nothing like 80s pop and synthwave such an amazing time to be alive. With all the craziness in the world I often wish we could go back to those times. There was certainly a lot more love in the world back then 😥😩
What a masterfully done scene!! Music, cinematography, lighting, acting everything came together so beautifully… I’ll be thinking about this moment for days most likely!
I don’t know why watching this scene just gave me chills. This made max one of my new favorite characters. This scene felt so impactful and helps you realize all she has been through
It was just the 4th episode and it already made me cry and sob out of nowhere. This scene truly touched something deep inside of me that even I couldn’t reach for a long time. It’s an unexplainable feeling. Favourite series forever.
It was the perfect indication that after the death of Billy she was getting detached and kinda far away from her loved ones and in the end of the episode she is literally running towards love and her loved ones.
Loved the scene where max escaped vecna and got back to her friends. I've always loved 80's music but stranger things has broadened my horizon when it comes to music and will always be a timeless show. It's been so epic and I don't want the show to end😭
I teared up during this scene. The music fit perfectly. The other kids screaming at Max, her desperation to get back. She’s a fighter, and that’s why she’s my favorite character.
What also made the scene so powerful is we saw what Vecna had done to his other victims, and we were imagining him doing that to Max... It was too horrifying to imagine it happening, it was kind of like that moment in Walking Dead (thank god it didn't happen here), you know the one....
Dude i fell in love with this song- the chemistry Max and lucas has is so amazing- and the photos and clips of her and lucas almost made me cry- it was sad

Watching this season I really could feel a deeper meaning to the whole story and that was incredibly well done.
This season gotta be the most horrific but also the most mature as we see the kids facing some difficult challenges.
Really the best season so far.
001 is the ultimate doomer
That was such an intense scene of max running
They couldn't pick a better song than this. This song was perfect for Max and this scene, I actually cried.
It Really Was Perfect for Max.
This song sucks donkey nuts. Max has terrible taste for a teen in the 80s.
in my opinion “dear billy” was the best episode by far, and that scene where max was running was leaving people on edge, and bringing out people emotions leaving me almost screaming this was hands down amazing
I think that’s a bit too much
That scene was amazing. Felt like I was gonna tear up for a second lol
Why didn’t you
Ok this is my favorite song now the way max was running for her life plus this song was just amazing i was crying
First time ever hearing this song and its amazing, but it'd be even more amazing if we get got the ACTUAL Stranger Things version of this song (with the violin and extra drums playing during the main hook while Max is running) it'd be even better.
Hands down to Stranger Things they always picks the best song for the right scenes
Assim como os Guardiões da galáxia
Assim como os Guardiões da galáxia
Never had I had goosebumps in a scene for anything than I did for this episode 👏👏😳😫
This song paired with one of the best scenes of all Stranger Things had me gripped, truly a top tier scene.
I would appreciate a 46 minute loop version of this. 👌
Smart

Get a life
They managed to make the best episode of the season, possibly the show, all with this song alone
trigger warning ⚠️⚠️⚠️
I cried so much in this scene not only because I thought Max was gonna die but because of the central message it wants to show the viewers.
Totally agree 🤪
Ikr and some people say that’s she should have died but that would ruin the whole point of the episode
This is exactly how I felt about this ending as well. At first I thought I was just projecting my own feelings on the show, but from reading the comments I a clearly not alone. I wish you all the best and hope we can keep fighting this!
I’m sorry, where has anyone that worked on this show said that’s the purpose of this scene? If not, then it’s in your head until it’s confirmed.
Max’s running is perfectly synchronised with the music and the black screen that plays when she comes closer to the gate is perfect because no one knows if she made it or not
Nothing will ever compare to any episode in season 1 in my opinion.
Alex Charakas Nah, I feel like S4 is ramping up to be the best one yet, there’s still 7 episodes left that’ll come out on July 1st, and Vecna is the best villain yet by far.
@@shopekuax2067 S4 only has two episodes left
Lol there's not 7 more episodes 😂 only two
Hope that’s not cancer
I'm sure we all listened to this by our self's with headphones 🎧 jamming out in silence
I can’t stop listening to the song after I watch the episode
just you…
Doing this currently
I just love how much dramatic irony there is in this scene and how intense and determined this scene is. Perfect music
You sound like an English teacher
The song and the desperacy from max to escape and the boys trying to save her was so worth of all the goosebumps in the world
The perfect representation of someone screaming for help to scape from hell. All the mud, sweat, despair, and hope. Best scene ever. I stopped to watch the next episodes and I'm just repeating the part where she's running to save her life.
you really are quirky
Perfect scene, story and music, a true masterpiece!
THIS SCENE IS NOW MY FAV OUT OF ALL THE SCENES IN STRANGER THINGS
This song made me think of all people in my life. Made me think about the precious moments I have in life with those i care the most for, and how eventually they along with me will die. Seeing that scene made me appreciate life more and not to dwell in the bad moments and cherish the good. I might be the only who felt that way though lol.
Sadie is an amazing actress
Acabei de assistir a cena, que espetáculo, e com essa trilha ficou espetacular!
Cry like hell when watching this scene, get my whole back goosebumps
The scene with this song was my favourite from the season so far, it was so emotional and I cry every time i rematch it. Its just perfect.
You know, everyday when I went to school, I put on this song and act like Max walking down the hall. I'm so glad they put that song in the show. ❤
Just watched that episode today and god damn.......dont think i've ever been hit that hard watching TV.
That last 15 or so minutes was beyond words.
Watched that scene twice again after.
Also didnt skip the credits cause this song plays with so much more emotion and hits harder.
Well done the Duffer Bros....spellbinding
the tv hit you?????
Incredible scene! I was in tears. My nerves were shot when Max levitated into the air! Incredible song and acting by Sadie!!!
You feel a connection with the actors!
literally one of the best scenes in stranger things
That was 1 hell of a super emotionally charged scene...the desperation, fear and awakening all captured in the running down scene by Max..
Max Mayfield is just so well written in season-4.
Her determination to live, the memories, the HAPPY memories of her life.
STRANGER THINGS HAS OUTDONE ITSELF.
This scene was phenomenal.
What a Cinematography! By far, the best. THE BEST. Period.
That scene actually made me tear up! So emotional and powerful!!
Max was amazing here. I felt depression described so well here.
This was my favorite scene of the show. The music + the intensity of emotions are on the next level. I cried so much after this scene and im so glad that Max made it out alive and well! ❤️
god damn, all 7 episodes gave me goosebumps
I got goosebumps watching this scene
I know this season isn’t over yet, but not Max having the best scene this season, truly mind blowing it was one of those things that could’ve gone either way
I think the flashbacks of her memories with everyone hit the hardest, reminds you of your own times.. perfection. Masterpiece 👏
This song goes so hard.
I loved this scene. So epic.
even though she's safe, still got PTSD from that song lmao.
This scene was a masterpiece
remember that in this moment, when Max began thinking about her friends, and physically fighting back and running to them, how desperately she wanted to live. A stark contrast from the remarks that Vecna made towards her, how she wished she followed Billy into death, how she wished for suicide.
Imagine running out of the upside down with your favorite song blasting in the background. This was the best scene.
bro max will forever be my favorite character. i love her sm. those flashbacks made me get chills bro.
Sameee 😭
Though I don't know how I feel about season 4, this scene brought me back to all those epic montages from the previous seasons. The flipping of the van from season one, the long shot of everyone standing together in season two, the firework mall scene in season three, plus all the other epic shots from the whole show in general. That feeling max got from her flashbacks was what I felt when watching this scene but with those epic moment shots or flashbacks of former seasons. A full circle, flashing before my eyes, all at stake, in one instant, life in front of you, death behind you. Masterpiece
Episode 4 was one of the hypest. That scene had so much emotion in it.. gahhh my mind is still blownnnnn
They use this song so perfectly I even got goosebumps when they slowly zoom out while they hug max and they use the piano instrumental even inspired me to learn it aha I love this show srly
🥸🤪
I think we can all agree this episode left us all emotional and in pure amazement. Definitely my new favorite episode.
I watched this episode 2 days ago and I still feel some kind of way. I just can't explain it.
It was the perfect indication that after the death of Billy she was getting detached and kinda far away from her loved ones and in the end of the episode she is literally running towards love and her loved ones.
Man, what a scene!!!! What a season. Can’t wait to see how it wraps up. I think this scene might be the best in the whole show. Goosebumps.
That episode was my favorite, the song truly fit in with the memories and running scene. Sadie Sink did a incredible job
The Duffer brothers had an extreme love for the 80s this was just magical!
Listening to this on loop
This scene was epic. That nostalgic feel this scene and song evokes was something else
My favorite episode and scene of this season so far!
Omg Sadie’s entire episode was just wild makes me cry. 😭 the episode was a whole metaphor of depression and PTSD ♥️ 🥺
max is my favourite character and when i saw that scene i was bawling my eyes out because i thought she was gonna die 😅 a very intense moment, sadie did an amazing job 👏
This season was just fantastic! Maxs scenes were incredibly moving! Glad she made it..im so addicted to this song
the end of this episode was so epic
This scene was so beautifully designed like godamnn it , felt those chills throughout her running. Perfect song for Max ❤️❤️
