What an amazing and creative transformation! Not to be a kill joy, but if someone did this in the US to a cheap rental, the first time the Landlords saw what was done, they've be plotting a rent increase, a sale or an eviction, so they could rent for double even triple or sell it at a profit.

That happened to my parents. They rented a duplex and my mother scraped off the old raggedy wallpaper and put up some pretty new wallpaper. She sanded and painted the woodwork as well as new floor covering. The place looked so nice. When the landlord came to collect the rent he looked inside the house and said he would need to increase the rent. My mother told him that she had paid for the materials and had done all the work so she would send him a bill for the cost of materials and the labor cost. He didn’t raise rent for us but I’m sure he raised it for the next tenants.

He did a WONDERFUL job! BUT seems like a lot of work for a rental. Most rental property in the US will not let you make any major changes. Any painting that is done will need to be repainted to the same look as when you first moved in.
True. But I bet landlords would be more than inclined to allow people to make changes, if they improved their property to this degree. My landlord (in NYC) is super difficult and cheep AF, and he only has a one word vocabulary-“no!” No to everything unless he has to do something by law, and even then he’ll still start with no. But, when I called to ask him if I could have my bathroom retiled, on my dime, his vocabulary miraculously expanded by 6 more words-“sure, I don’t see why not!”😂

In the beginning, the house looked shabby but large. You fixed it up beautifully! Very cozy and comfortable! I imagine that with all of the hard work and expense of the renovations, you will live there for many, many years! It is big enough to raise a family, and nice enough to want to live there and call it home!
