I'm always amazed at how careful the parents are around their chick. When Mom stepped off the nest, her talons were already folded up. When a piece of fish drops, she's so careful with her beak when picking it up. The fact they can understand the danger they could accidently inflict on their fluff-ball is wonderful! 🦅
Sweet Shadow - Looked like Jackie whispered to him while she gently followed his neck feathers with her beak - when she came to the front of his face- he was a little startled and looked at her as if to say "Awww come on Jackie - just one night"?
Shadow did not want to get up. Jackie had to literally push him out of the way lol. They are so proud of their chick. 2 years without one was a long time. Eagles live to raise babies. Shadow really didn’t want to get up. I love this nest.
Jackie is such a jabber jaw tonight to funny. Ok Shadow times up. They are such a sweet couple and really take good care of the little one. Thanks Cali Condor have good night.🌙💕🦅

First time I've checked in in awhile and I was so surprised and happy to see these two have a new chick! Praying for a good outcome for this beautiful family!
Shadow tried so hard to win but in the end Jackie gets her way. Love her tactic of a beak full of food for the eaglet. Would be fascinating to know what she is saying to Shadow with those sweetheart chirps
Jackie snd Shadow are so careful whn switching. Even though they cant speak, they communicate their wants regarding the chick. When jackie finally got up, Shadow was quick to lower his head and check his baby. I also noticed Shadow was trying to help jackie feed chick by trying to pass her meat pieces of but Jackie wasn't into it, lol.

The site says it's passed the 40 day mark. No egg on record has hatched past that. But they said nature is in charge so if it happens we will see. If not it just becomes part of the nest as it breaks down.

They may not be able to speak English but they're terrific at communicating in "bald eagle."
