  • This is the Glock 9mm 50 round drum. This one unfortunately came defected from the company it was purchased from. As you will see the roller aka follower is lost somewhere in the drum, i assume. I shook it and you can hear something loose in there. I decided to disassemble it but not all the way since I was going to return it for another one and that could violate the return policy. I like to tinker as a gunsmith and decided it would be fun to have a look in here at the ratchet system and drum. As you can see, there are two parts to this drum and i only partially disassembled it. Very interesting and thought I would share with all of you. I have another one and I do not recommend and would not disassemble mine. So enjoy and feel free to click the like button and leave comments. I will be posting a future video on its use and my experience with this unique drum. Some ask what use can this drum have? Here is my opinion on this drum. First it is smaller then other type drums. Here are my reasons for having such a drum.
    1. Shooting this 9mm 50 round drum for fun shooting is a blast to have 50 rounds firing from your Glock. Just plain fun
    2. For it's size, I would keep one in your vehicle, bug out bag for emergencies, zombie apocalypse. ufo alien attack. lol but seriously, nice to have a quick 50 rounds at your hands for last resort and easy to pack. You don't want to carry a box of 50 rounds, just not good in weight displacement in your pack, etc. Of course the long 31, 33 round stick mags are also great to carry and easily fit in your bug out bags and vehicles,etc.
    3. It is easy to load due to the ratchet system and can even fit in your cargo pocket if need be for quick carry and last resort after you use up all your glock mags. So those are my reasons for this but to each his/her own and use what works for you and your situation and or mission.

    i disassembled my drum completely today, and after i got all the torx screws out and pulled it apart it was like a bomb, the coil that pushes up the follower up is on a crazy amount of tension. to put it back together you have to rewind it the coil by spinning the follower (i have no idea how many times to wind it but hopefully i did the right amount) and its a bitch to put the parts together with out the coil spinning making it extremely difficult to put back together. i would not recommend taking it completely apart unless you absolutely need to! i sure the next time i do take it apart it will be much easier to put back together. its just like everything once you learn how to do it, it just keeps getting easier and easier!

    My cam got caught up when I was unloading. Tomorrow I'm going to take it down to repair. Thanks for the video.

      Jason Miller Let me know what happened. My friends 50 round drum, came with problems and he sent it back and got another one that worked. I always make sure to test out all and any kind of mags i have. You never want a faulty one. Thanks for watching and your info.

      Jason Miller Sounds good. So fun to shoot but then you just think, damn 50 rounds just flew out the window. ahhaa I do like it for that one last ditch drum mag for hardcore emergencies and it is lightweight and small. Glad it works now

    Apparently this is not an uncommon occurrence. I bought two and one was like yours. I took mine all the way apart and cleaned it up well, smoothed out a few spots where it looked like the follower might have been hanging up and so far it seems to be working fine. It really isn't that hard to go all the way.

    long shot here. I picked up one of these mags relatively cheap because the followers weren't acting right. Dis-assembled the drum and the large tension spring flew out. I've had a time trying to get it back into place while it's coiled up. any tips?

      Sorry brother, that happened. All I can tell you is do some research of other UA-cam videos on disassembly and assembly on this drum. I have seen some that will help you getting it back in easily. Good luck. Let me know what happens. Thanks for watching

      Jacob smith I am sure there are videos of how to do it but trust me, I have taken somethings apart and it was a bitch to repair and put back together. Once you do it, it becomes easier.

    Just twist that 6-point star to unscrew that bolt. Under that gear is the coil spring which is usually the issue. Easy fix.

    Whats the name of the screwdriver you have to use to take it apart?

      Hey brother, all I can tell you is that is was some kind of star wrench type system. I bought it at a gun show for one dollar and it works on a lot of things. I hope that helps but you can do a search on youtube see if they have it, it will be inexpensive.

    Dang I wanted to know how to clean it. Have you figured that out?

    • @Ghostginthree
      @Ghostginthree  9 років тому

      +glockerbob I have not had a chance to disassemble the drum fully yet but if I do, I will make a video on it. I have had several messages telling me it is easy to do and assemble. I have used it over a hundred times and yet take it apart to clean it and works flawlessly. Good question though.
