Imo Someya was right. You don't need tattoos to be a true Yakuza, a true man. MFer committed suicide to save his loved one, never raised a hand to his daughter. I kinda want a side story game with Someya, to see what his definition of Yakuza looks like.
Acts like a snooty new age Yakuza, turns out to be one of the most old school Yakuza in the series. Someone all the old guard like Kiryu, Majima, Saejima, Kuze would respect.
If you think about it, Someya just threw Kiryu, I repeat, KIRYU, over the bar with only one arm. Either he's secretly a beast himself, or he's really giving it everything to come home to his family...
They say the most dangerous man is One who has nothing left to lose but in truth I think it's actually the One who has One last thing to Save. Someya was forced into this fight to save Kiyomi, He's ready to do whatever it takes, even if it means having to kill Kiryu, A man he would rather not fight under any other circumstances. People can do crazy things when it's All or Nothing
When during a meeting, sometimes after his first boss fight, Someya broke a bottle of wine on the head of some motherfucker who insulted Kiryu. That's when I knew.
I think that's the point. The man with nothing on his back who scoffed at "outdated ways" ended up having more Gokudo Soul than the corporate wannabe with his fancy tattoo.
This fight is the best boss fight in all of Yakuza if you ask me. I read about this in another comment, but I love how the long battle and this boss fight subverts your expectations. Instead of Kiryu and the gang kicking ass and stopping the big bad, Kiryu is forced to brave it alone. This happens most of the time anyways, however we've never seen one of his allies get harmed in the midst of battle like Yuta did. And then you reach Someya. The antagonists aren't there waiting for Kiryu; why would they? They know how he's manage to fight hundreds upon hundreds of men and still come out on top over the course of his life. They just want to kill him without getting _their_ hands dirty, which makes perfect sense. Of course they'd find a way to force one of their men to go after Kiryu on what you can consider a suicide mission. It isn't a fight for respect, it isn't a fight to reach the top of the Yakuza food chain, it isn't a fight for glory, nor is it a fight to resolve an ideological conflict. It's just Someya fighting not only for his life, but for Kiyomi's too. The only way it'll end is if he kills Kiryu, or if Kiryu kills him. It's extremely depressing, and you can even see that Kiryu is distraught at fighting Someya with the one word we get: "Why?!" Keep in mind, Someya had told Kiryu that the Fixer and Iwami would be going after Haruka, Haruto and himself. He didn't want to see the great 4th Chairman die in such a manner, even if his bravery was venerable. Someya was dealt the worst hand, through and through. And this track, DESTINY, just exemplifies it. An extremely dramatic setpiece which ends in the one of the worst possible ways. I reckon it represents both Kiryu's and Someya's strife. A cleverly orchestrated piece for a truly unexpected boss fight that none of wish we had to go through once we found out why we had to fight Someya. Simply the best.
My favourite part of yakuza 6 was when someya said "wow, I guess it was my destiny to become the yakuza 6: the song of life" and then he someya'd all over himself
Oh, when I first played this fight I was lucky enough to sync the first BOOM moment with the QTE. I felt like I was freakin flying, And made me wish that Yakuza 6 jad dynamic finishers for some of its bosses like 5. Just icing on the cake through ;)
Someya was a boss fight I loved playing against cause in my eyes he felt like a person on the balance of the Yakuza life and was definitely a better antagonist then iwami
This is why I like asshole and cocky characters, because then we have cases like Someya where he gained my whole respect and almost cried when he stabbed himself to save Kiyomi. You gained a spot in my heart, Someya.
For a man with clean slate, Someya truly has a soul of dreamers. He can impress all of the older generation from Tojo clan but sadly he serve under the worst leader.
couldn't find a joke about maid dragon with the title, so I will just tell you I discovered the anime with this channel and if you are an artist do more art of it
Very sad soundtrack but relatable. Just imagine if you are a hitman from another mafia company, when someone kidnaps you to force yourself to kill your girlfriend who is a hitwoman from another mafia company that opposes yours after secretly falling in love for years, The mafia leaders are torturing your emotions and souls and forcing you guys to kill and fight each other until one lives.
Even though i hated the guy the more i played through the game he grew on me and after his death it made me sad and theres very few charaters in the yakuza franchies that made me switch from hating them to liking them
people are talking about how someya was the real final boss but to me the final boss is the guy who's been behind it all mainly because he's who you've been against the entire game (ok maybe not in yakuza 5)
Why does this scream more final boss then the actuall final boss theme. Ik it is cliche to have an emotional boss theme for end, but yakuza 6 is already so depressing man and this hits the vibe more
it took me long time to play this game, because the reviews are that BAD but seeing Korean Vergil and Someya changed my mind (no matter how stupid the plot was) then....Iwami happen it feels anticlimactic
The comment section shoukd have prepared you for Iwami. Everyone is talking about him. Also WHERE ARE YOU LOOKING AT YAKUZA CONTENT WHERE THE REVIEWERS SAY IT'S SHIT? Every single piece of Yakuza content i've come across praised it. Unless we're talking about Yakuza 3, 6 and Like a Dragon, but those are the black sheep of the franchise.

Still raised a hand to his wife though when she was afraid of him. It is still hard to not like him as he tries to right a wrong in the end
In my heart this was the true final boss. Someya deserved better.

The QTE in this fight is genuinely one of the best action sequences in any piece of action media ever the yak 4 rooftop fights are a close second
Unironically the greatest Yakuza Boss fight.
The QTE, story behind fight, the best soundtrack in the game. Yes it is
