I'm done listening to YT golfers, I am strictly listening to videos like this with guys like Bryson or Grant. Great video, kept it simple and executable.
Something that has helped me over the years to keep that club in this exact position is holding a towel under both armpits. It not only helps the arms and body stay connected but at the same time keeps the club on plane. I am in the middle of really working on connection again and hoping that input helps me create a better move on plane through downswing and better lower body rotation through the ball.
@@PerformanceGolfZone love the videos you did with Grant. The way you explain the golf swing is very clean and concise and easy to visualize. Your videos are really good. Thank you
@@McUglyJr I do. There is a short on my channel I did pretty recently. You can also just use a head cover or an extra golf glove under your armpits. @performancegolfzone also has a recent video of this drill with Sabrina I watched using a golf glove
Good stuff. I think for me anyway it's helpful to point out that sucking the club inside on the takeaway _feels_ powerful but it really is setting you up for failure.
This is GREAT stuff guys! I really like the concepts and drills you presented here for how to think about and feel for getting a great shaft parallel position and then left arm parallel on the backswing to help setup a successful overall swing. It's working really well for me. I thought it would be worth pointing out for others who might be like me that I can't forget about other fundamentals when focusing on this. For example, when focusing so hard on this takeaway we can't get lazy with our shoulder turn, shoulder angle, spine angle, etc. It's easy for me to lose sight of those and not turn the shoulders enough or have a shoulder angle that is getting too level, etc. Everything working together, right? : -) Thanks again for this tip / visual / drill!
I heard the shout out to Takomo! I have the 101T with Obsidian shafts. I love them. Great channel, great tips. AND, of course, Grant Horvat is a wonderful guest.
Yes!! Having the backswing on plane or slightly more vertical HELPS set it up for sure. From there on way down its a combo of movements.....trail elbow working forward from external rotation, forearm rotation, lead arm rotation stuff, wrist angles etc etc lol Ill link some below on the MICRO details that makes it shallow: ua-cam.com/video/UHC5qMughtg/v-deo.html&pp=ygUoRXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIHNoYWxsb3cgZG93bnN3aW5nIHJpZ2h0IGFybQ%3D%3D ua-cam.com/video/VWXiaem09Co/v-deo.html&pp=ygUxRXJpYyBDb2dvcm5vIHNoYWxsb3cgdGhlIHNoYWZ0IGxlZnQgYXJtIG1lY2hhbmljcw%3D%3D
I get the concept. But in that last swing the tee never was pointed at him. But he said he focused on the tee pointing at him. It’s just interesting to practice a drill that never really happens in a real swing.
At 5:10 .. Pity Grant started lining up to the left of the camera angle, so it looks like he puts the clubhead way further outside his hands than he really is. Practice stick next time? Good stuff though!
Hey Mitchell! For sure---he does OK for himself :) Of course not EVERY player needs to do this but this would be a good place to start.... We see 1,000's of swings every month that we coach online and I gotta tell ya 95% of people who swing back flat line Rahm end up way off plane (usually over the top) in the downswing. Some can get away with it....but not many. Of course you would never change his :)
He's not pro, so it's way better to learn a swing from someone who's one a major like idk Padraig Harrington. Bryson Dechambeau, Rory Mcilroy. There are videos of those guys going in depth of their swing.
Grant is a scratch golfer which is better to learn from because he knows the struggles of a high handicap golfer and yes you can take tips from pros but its a very small difference especially because grant is around pro golfers and he takes tips from them

Grant is literally a YT golfer

Good tips, Gents.....take away is key and can keep you fundamentally sound 👍
Appreciate it!
Grant is da man! Dude can golf.
Yessir!
Good stuff. I think for me anyway it's helpful to point out that sucking the club inside on the takeaway _feels_ powerful but it really is setting you up for failure.
Agreed!!
Yep just look at Hogan, Floyd, Snead, Knudsen. Those guys couldn’t hit it at all

for sure some FEELs vs REALS!!
Does keeping ur hands close to the body in the takeaway apply to all clubs or just irons?
All clubs!
Awesome video.
thanks Kelly!
Nice 👍🏻
Thanks Michael!
Need the same thing with Driver!
:)

Does this apply to driver as well?
Yes.
Yep!!
One day I want lessons from @granthorvat
Lol going to be hard to get in there but I'll be rooting for ya :)
Same move with all clubs?
Yep!!
How did Grant feel after hitting that Takomo iron? LOL
Don't tell anyone......but I think he liked them :)
Yeah so every time I tried this takeaway my arms feel disconnected on the downswing to create a steep path
Ruh roh
Jon Rahm might disagree

@rosaparks__ttv5163 well actually, there is quite a big difference between a scratch golfer and tour pro, but I understand your point of view
Thanks for watching and the feedback!
Let’s go!! 🫡
