Man, this brings back memories! The opening shot is from the approximate part of Memorial Stadium that my grandparents' seats were located in, so all the Nebraska games I've personally attended were seen from approximately that perspective. I wasn't at this game because my family was at a convention in Kearney, but I saw the game on TV screens and remember it well.
Good game. I forgot how good both these programs were from 1988 to 2002 they had some battles with both teams ranked & playing for conference championships, championships, & major bowls. I miss the Big 12.
The introduction by Musberger is awesome, and man was the weather beyond raw. Too bad a lot of the Huskers got sick and were blowing chunks on the sidelines the following week.
"Too bad a lot of the Huskers got sick and were blowing chunks on the sidelines the following week." There it is. The excuse as to why Neb lost to Texas the next week. Way to go gynandroidhead. You never fail to disappoint. The Facts: Temp: 36 and dropped to 34 Rain: about a tenth of inch Wind: 13 dropping to 7 Source: Wunderground I bet we can find a ton of worse weather conditions for Neb games but they managed a win the following week.
Colorado's offensive line should all have their scholarships taken away ! That was absolutely PATHETIC it looked like D1 vs a jc . How Colorado was even in the game was a miracle and credit to their defense. The qb had no time to throw the ball. I never saw this game until today. That was maybe the worst offensive line pass blocking I have ever seen in my life... Holy cow was that atrocious
They were up against one of the best teams in the country. Super fast defense with a very good and very aggressive D coach. McBride had them comin from every direction....Co O line was shell shocked at the half. Both teams O line didn't perform well.
1:22:22 - Blatant pass interference. If I play for Nebraska, I'm pissed about this, because if we're already ahead by 13 points, we don't need "help" from biased officials.
Neb lost to Texas in the B12 championship game this year . I always wondered the outcome if all-american Ahmen Green wasn't out for this game or Texas. Arguably four consecutive National Championships bro
CU was the better team that year. If the game was in boulder they win. Koy doesn't throw that pick 6 at the beginning. CU beat that Texas team HANDEDLY that NU lost to the next week. CU always played tougher non conference schedules in the big 8/big 12 days too. CU was playing Michigan while NU was playing Pacific. Without those cupcake non conference schedules I guarantee NU has less National Championships.
@@TimothyCihal-pn7fm There was basically a river on the field. That win was costly for both teams. In the Big 10, Pac 10, and ACC, that would've been the last game of the season. This game in these conditions between two 9-1 teams with undefeated conference records, all for the right to play a four-loss Texas Team in the inaugural Big 12 Championship. Oh, and with respect to CU beating that Texas team, I am sure that most of your players were overcoming the flu as a result of being in this slugfest, getting fluids, and blowing chunks on the sidelines AND it still took Texas near-perfect execution to win.
Nebraska played #24 WV on a neutral and #13 UCLA out of conference in 94. 95, c'mon we murder anyone - beat two pac ten teams and a big ten team by a combined score of 162-59. 97, we smacked #2 Washington on the road. i don't think you know what you're talking about.
I LIKE THESE OLD SCHOOL COLLEGE FOOTBALL GAMES FROM THE 1990'S!!!

This was Nov. 29, 1996. The game was on Black Friday.

@@robjohnson8861 Weather really has nothing to do with whether someone gets flu.
@@joannleichliter4308 the verdict is out as to whether that is totally true. A cold, compromised body has less resources to combat bugs.
@@joannleichliter4308 Just let Rob do his thing. I'm sure it makes him feel better, no matter how invalid his statements are.

@cpiep Bet that Texas game was in Boulder. Neb v Texas was neutral site in Texas go figure .….
Neuheisel lost this game when he punted at the NU 30 yard line in the 3rd quarter on 4th and 4.
Ugh the offensive line WAS ABSOLUTELY WHY THEY LOST THIS GAME

Gotta love pathetic Nebraska haters. You can actually predict interceptions based on where the game was played? You're an idiot.
