You should split the video into chapters for each movie you talk about. I got interested in the plot of one and had trouble finding where you say the title. I loved the video tho, it gave me so many tingles 😁

Perfect Days sounds so good and right up my alley, I am now so excited to watch it soon haha! I spent this year watching nearly all of Eric Rohmer's films. He's a french new wave director who tells visually beautiful, slow, character and dialogue driven tales of the French bourgeoisie
There are still a lot of movies from this year I want to see, but right now I think my favorites are: 1. Anora 2. The Brutalist 3. Furiosa 4. Nickel Boys 5. Look Into My Eyes (a great documentary about NYC psychics that I cannot recommend highly enough!)
The fluffy cover scratching was divine, would love to see more of this! Very insightful thoughts as always Mauve. Fascinated by that costume design piece for Conclave, will have to look it up, love hearing about the litle details behind movies that often get overlooked.
So glad you liked it! And here's the link on the costumes -- super interesting and quick read imo: www.nytimes.com/2024/11/10/style/conclave-movie-costumes-pope.html
Thank you for a super video as always! Completely agree with a lot of your favourites - I similarly loved Poor Things, Zone of Interest, Anatomy of a Fall and The Substance. Thank you for your other recommendations too, will definitely be checking those out! If you’re into Studio Ghibli, The Boy and The Heron was a lovely watch this year as well 😊
This video tickles my brain i love a good whisper ramble with fluffy mic 💕💕 I loved Poor Things too, had a great time watching it!! And Anora and Anatomy of a Fall are on my watchlist for a while now, i have to get to them soon! And i saw the trailer for Conclave and didn't think it would be my type of movie, but now i'm intrigued 😄About the comment you made about Top Gun, i will say the first one is bit boring, but the sequel is quite entertaining if you're looking for some mindless fun action i was actually pretty surprised when i watched it and actually liked it!
I didn't think Conclave would be my type of movie either! I'm glad my friend suggested we go, otherwise I don't think I would have seen it. If you do see it, I hope you like it too! 😊💜
rewatched a ton of my favorites this year (lots of em were horror) but some of the ones that come to mind were: - the happiness of the katakuris - mothra vs. godzilla - the green ray - phenomena - the substance - titane - the hired hand
Monster (kore-eda) and the count of Monte cristo were my faves, also I loved perfect days, I saw the TV glow and especially anora. Also conclave was good. I was most let down by the substance. I saw Nosferatu today and that was good too. Happy Christmas and New year! x
@MauveASMR It's very theatrical if that helps! I was quite surprised by it being quite a straightforward narrative considering the lighthouse etc. But it was pretty "fun" actually, the horror notwithstanding. Definitely stage play vibes!
Okay, I adored the Zone of Interest. I saw it in a packed theater, and I live in a predominantly Jewish area, and I’ve never seen a theater so silent and still while the credits rolled. Such an intense film. And Anatomy of a Fall was my favorite from last year! I actually did a final project on the film for law school and had a blast dissecting it and watching certain scenes on repeat. Definitely a standout of this decade for me. And once you see A Real Pain, pleeeeease share your thoughts! Greatly enjoyed this video ☻
Yes, Zone of Interest and Anatomy of a Fall were TOP for me! Was completely hooked by all the French court scenes, totally wild to me. As for Zone, I loved everything, especially the creative decisions / risks taken towards the end. Stunning, in the tragic sense. Both absolutely amazing movies 💜
Great films!! I watched _Conclave_ with my fam on holiday and totally agree -- it's just a perfect airport paperback thriller of a film. And I am hoping to get to _The Substance_ soon, which I suspect that I'm gonna really enjoy. I've spent a loooot more time watching old films than 2024 ones this year, but for this year: (1) ymmv but I was soooo nervous about the Netflix-produced _Pedro Páramo_ and was happy to see that it was a Pretty Good Adaptation. It's a pretty straightforward adaptation for good and for ill, but I'm not sure I'd myself be brave enough to stray too far from one of The Great Novels, ya know? (2) I've been having a ton of fun following along as Joel Haver over here on UA-cam is producing a bunch of films this year (the project being "12 films in 12 months"). I'm a big lover of DIY stuff and it's been really fun to see what he and his friends are turning out (across styles and genres and structures). cheers! PS omg speaking of your _Top Gun_ / _Naked Gun_ name blindness, I _for the life of me_ cannot keep _Little Shop of Horrors_ and _Rocky Horror Picture Show_ apart in my head, despite my sister loving both of them and me having seen the former. I got like 15 minutes into the follow-up to Rocky Horror like "they did this after Little Shop...? okay weird" before pausing and looking it up and being like. ohhhhhhh I got myself again. Maybe when I finally see Rocky Horror I'll be able to keep them apart in my head.
Right?! It's so strange how some names get crossed and then it's seemingly impossible to separate them, even once you know, unless of course you experience the thing, and then you have a fighting chance! Good luck to you haha 😊💜 I refuse to see Top Gun because I really dislike TC but luckily just seeing (the much better, more joyful, totally bonkers) Naked Gun did the trick for me
love most of the films you mentioned, especially Perfect Days. So good. I liked Anora but I’m not sure about the ending. 🤷🏻♂️ not sure I bought it. My favorites of the year were “The Brutalist” (sweeping drama about the immigrant experience) and “Nosferatu” (lots of jump scares but it’s fantastic 😂). “Furiosa” was a good action picture. Fun stuff. I also liked Dune:Part Two even though they changed a lot of important details from the book. (The book is better).
Nosferatu looks terrifyingly gorgeous but I just cannot do jumpscares, I always feel like I'm literally going to pass away 😅 I enjoyed Dune Part Two also but it didn't make my faves. I'll have to check out The Brutalist! And finally, I hear you on Anora -- I did buy it, because the only way she knows how to relate to men / show appreciation / forge intimacy is through sex (I forget if I said this in the video, thanks whiskey), and Igor was oozing deep caring / witnessing in just about every scene (I weirdly loved him) Thanks for being here! 💜
@ yeah, I suppose you’re right. I was wondering why she initiated sex with Igor , but I liked when she broke down and showed her emotion. Mikey Madison’s performance was really good! Nosferatu- im not a big jump scare person either (or really a horror fan), but this film is so good! It’s so atmospheric and menacing. 😄
@@MauveASMR it’s SO good! It’s well paced for a nearly 4 hour film and it covers so much ground emotionally. An epic drama! That director is very talented.
@@aridassaASMR Totally! I was surprised that every minute of the runtime felt beautiful and worth keeping, which isn't always the case with longer movies
Hey Mauve, if you ever want an excuse to hug your partner, watch "your name" its an animated love story. Though, it Is THE most popular anime film so you have probably seen it. Just in case you havent though, big recommend.
These are my favorite movies of 2024, Mauve: 1. Deadpool & Wolverine 2. Fly Me To The Moon 3. A Complete Unknown 4. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 5. The Wild Robot 6. Conclave 7. Transformers One 8. Inside Out 2 9. Young Woman and the Sea 10. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
