the idea that the government is the servant of the people is only true in theory. Practically the government is the ruler, so higher government pay and vacation is to be expected.
Most government workers are underplayed. This partly explains why the private sector has all of the talented workers and the government is usually inferior at doing any task that the private sector also does. Ever see the government try to build a website?

That said, one chief of police was getting like 400k a year and it has occurred to me that maybe the actual annual value of someone’s labor in 2021 due to inflation. We are finally seeing a big uptick in wages in the private sector.

There are a celebration of Juneteenth throughout the country. My family has participated in the event in AZ for a while now. I see it as blacks Circulating our dollars. We are doing Business and eating great food. Most blacks didn't want this to be a federal holiday ( we didn't care! ), and I wish we weren't in the middle off this political tug of war.
That for the history lesson. Sad, we don’t know our own history!

I spent years at a federal building as part of my graduate research. You would not believe the waste I witnessed first hand. To call the federal service useless would be a compliment- they are abjectly counterproductive to society!

Does the Government track/report every precious metal purchases and can it be circumvented? Anyone's knowledge appreciated
In the US, purchases that total over $10,000 within 24 have to be reported by the seller. Also the only reporting that you have to do is if you sell because the government has to get a cut of your profit so they can blow more money than what we have on over budget, behind schedule, and out of date garbage. I may be missing some, but that’s just my understanding on the matter.
As an active duty military M.D. (radiologist), I still had to work. They said we cannot reschedule and patients. 1 day notice haha. Some other clinics got the day off.

Combat veteran since 2004. Somehow I and any veterans I know are always working on veterans day. I never have had one off. Yet, I see so many people taking that day off to go out and et drunk that are not veterans. That does nothing to honor veterans. So. yea I agree with you on both actually. PETER -- The main reason Liberals have so much political power is that Conservatives don't PRACTICE smaller government, more freedom, fiscal responsibility or sound money when they are in power. Don't underestimate the ire of all those young Americans who have to live their parents' basements after they go to college. The rigged numbers like the GDP, the CPI and unemployment rate show the government is "doing great." Therefore, their plight becomes a personal vendetta and it is only a question of who shall be the scapegoat. The fact that the asset owners who have fattened up, sweeping up expensive real estate, taking advantage of stock and crypto BUBBLES, are often White Conservatives make them obvious scapegoats for the jealous.
This is how Fed "money printing" destroys America. Moreover, it doesn't receive the BLAME it deserves. Fed officials are treated like Kings and Queens.

In the U.K., state holidays apply to ALL workers except if you are self employed or freelance of course. So I’m amazed the USA passes laws only benefiting government workers, a sort of racism against the rest of the country!

Point taken that federal workers get too much, but you are out of touch with private sector vacation days. Most companies give entry level hires 2 wks to start, and increases over time to over 4 wks. Banks seem more generous with vacation. Average is probably over 3 wks, not 2 wks.

Slavery wasn't abolished in the Chickasaw Nation until April 28th, 1866. My grandfather's great-grandmother was 13 years old, when she was emancipated.

America is suprisingly diverse in regional terms. I experienced no racism in west coast, somewhat in eastcoast, and oh my, the south was hell. After that I could understand why northerners hate the south (especially Virginians, bleh...) even though they are both white. Not just racism, I found the southern hillbillys quite unappealing overall.

A good history lesson everyone should hear.
The fact that this podcast will be viewed as controversial by some proves the point of this episode. The problem is people make this so inflammatory that you can’t have a rational discussion. There’s the problem.
If you say Juneteenth to people around here they look at you like you’re from another planet. Nobody knew what it was until last year. It wasn’t a nationally recognized thing until it got kicked into the political arena to try to win votes for 2020. It feels like the government is held hostage over this stuff out of fear and you do wonder what they will cave into next.
Excellent points throughout this podcast. There was no thought put into passing this concerning any impacts or issues it may cause. Just a bunch of virtue signaling and white people trying to show they’re not racist. Ok great, can we move on now? No because the next shoe will drop somewhere, some day. Something will be inflicted upon a black person by a white person in this country that we’ll all be blamed for again and we’re back to square one.

I can understand not wanting to give federal workers more holidays but aren't they paid less vs private sector employees? Its been my experience at least working for both. Seems a bit blown up that you spent 20 minutes talking about an extra holiday being added, compared to the debt or the fed's spending. its a drop in the bucket, but I agree all are issues. You just need to realize magnitude.
