Ahhhhhh! but did you ever hear Dwayne's father Gordon play?? and any genre of music. Gordon was the most beautiful person and player I've ever met (alongside Cameron Chisholm of Margaree Forks) a fantastic player, gone too soon and a fantastic person. John Allan stands in a class of his own in both categories too, Rest in Peace you two, a credit to Cape Breton Island I miss my old 'hoose' in Grand Greve!.
I saw Dwayne for the first time last weekend where he played at the Estwood Davidson Benefit Concert in St Peters NS. When he played his version of the Orange Blossom Special, I was transfixed.I couldn't believe it was real. I wouldn't consider myself a fiddle music lover but this man could make anyone a convert!
What beautiful music. Too bad the clip cuts out, I would love to here where he takes the tune. Dwayne is indeed brilliant, he plays with such feeling and has fine touch.
Love this guy - that hard-driving Cape Breton swing, with a touch of the richer tone of the East Coast Scots style - a unique sound. I've seen a post saying he has an old CD - anyone know of a source?
Dwayne where are you now? I don't think that you would remember me, but you may. I was Val's partner that you were friends with and used to come visit the house. We are no more, but my name is Patricia (Trisha) really. You were and are an amazing talent!
It appears that 'nothingnothing' took offense to my wee post below, believing that I was derogatory towards Dwayne's playing abilities by praising his father, nothing could be further from the truth! I appreciate and admire young Cote's playing and merely attempted to resurrect his fantastic father's musical skills. Plus, I was privileged to play with Gordon, but never shared a set with Dwayne, hence my post. Anyways, I see no reason to change my post as I'm speaking from MY experience and not 'nothingnothing's' expert opinion, LoL! as we say in Glasgow where I come from "Get a grip, yurr heid's aw mince!"
Extremely proud to play with John Allan . Like a father to me .Miss him so much . Dwayne c.

Two amazing players!
JA also had this amazing touch on his 12-string - certainly his own style. Especially when does his bagpipe style
