When you import a .iff file into QuickBooks do you need to provide a TRNSID value in the source file or is this automatically generated during the import process?

@@Stevezedinoz Thanks, Steve. Your videos have been very useful for me. The "iif" documentation I've read states that the TRNSID field is required but doesn't state that you should leave it blank so the transaction number is automatically generated via the import process. I'm guessing that is the same with the DOCNUM field too. I can't seem to find a field that specifies which invoice template should be used with the transaction. Do you know if you can do that? It seems crazy to import thousands of invoice transactions and then have to go into each one in the application to change the invoice template.

Hi Mr. Batten, really great work on this video and editing/importing the iif file all together. I am getting an ; [ERROR] QNTY column is repeated or empty in the header [15113] after importing a purchase order iif file. Could you help me troubleshoot this?

Hi Rakim, Open your IIF file in notepad and see if you have two columns with the header QNTY that might be the cause or a corrupt IIF file. You would try Zed Axis to import the corrupt IIF file as you can ignore the duplicate QNTY column.

Hi Vijay, You could open the IIF file in Excel and make sure that a quantity has been specified in the bill, alternatively you could try using a trial of Zed Axis to import the IIF file into QuickBooks if there is a problem in the way the data has been formatted.

Hi Ivy, Yes you can import Employee lists using an IIF file but the fields are quite limited compared to what Zed Axis can import.
