I would pick any scooter for family but a motorcycle with mileage for personal commutes.

Electric Should Mean 'Almost No Maintainance'!! Right Now Aether Commands 21k - 25k Per Year Subscription Fee. That's Like Costs Of A Normal Scooter. Have To Wait For A Better Electric Scooter.
Forgot to mention the clunky manual gearbox vs the smooth and convenient CVT. Being a RC390 owner I just love chilling on scooters if its just inside the city, where as shifting gears continuously on 110cc motorcycle is no fun. I sold my tvs victor and bought a Jupiter ❤️

I'm a collage student; have to carry a bag (full of books) and my collage is 14 k.m away from my house. The road, that I'll use is highway and there is non-existent off-road. What should I purchase?? Do you have any opinion for me?!
@@hyper-nationalist2348 As I said scooters are hassle free in city traffic. But your commute is daily on highways go get a bike first if you don't have one. A college student must have a proper bike to explore places, then the scooter is secondary.
Apart from aesthetics and social status, a Scooter is the best option anytime.
In my opinion, Scooter/scooty is an asset while bike is an expense.
The modern generation prefers scooters because of it's practicality and less maintenance. While bikes are good for long rides and mileage.
After driving for more than 25 years in various brands ranging from old Bajaj scooters to 100 cc mororcycle to gearless 110 cc scooter to my current RE bike, I feel gearless scooters are best. If one does not need to travel in highways often, need carrying space, less maintenance, value for money, mostly city rides, then scooter is the clear winner. Todays 110 cc scooters have better stability than 110 cc bikes when riding with pillion. Thanks for such a nice comparison. The lungi affair was just mind-blowing 😅.

Have tried grocery shopping on my motorcycle and it's very difficult. I guess my Himalayan isn't built for grocery shopping. Maybe a scooter with large wheels and long travel suspension would kill the competition!
Yes, Indonesian folks are lucky in this regard! They have Honda Vario 125/150 series.

For a family person, I guess scooter is much more practical specially if one is middle class.

I defeinitely feel that motorcycle companies in india need to be more innovative with space management, storage and practicality. By doing that they will increase their consumer base as well. S far tvs is the only one with under seat storage especially in the raider, even though its not a lot, its a step in the correct direction. But we do need more companies to innovate the practicality of motorcycles.
Well I ended up getting a maestro 125. Also that water on the visor and the lungi damn good stuff😂😂😂😂😂😂

I have both. An Indian Scout for fun and a Kymco 150 for commuting. I'd recommend starting off with a scooter tbh before moving up to something exciting. Your wallet will thank you

In rain, scooter will keep your footwear & pants safe due to the footboard. No such protection is available on bikes.

Seven years old splendor plus. I changed engine oil regularly and had to change clutch lever once because my friend dropped my bike and tyres have been changed once. Nothing else has been changed and currently odo is showing 44k kms. Chain can easily last upto 50k kms. Imagine the maintenance of scooter. Scooter life is upto 5 years or 40k kms which ever is earlier.
I have a 10 year old activa 2g with 50000+ kms and it still runs like a charm 🤤 get your facts right.

I have 21 years old hero honda splendor 1999 model, still running........crossed 95000kms on odo..........mileage 60+........

MOTORCYCLES are More Powerful and looks more better amd Manly.
BUT Advantages of a scooty is :
1) Lightweight..
2) Even a female
eg. Wife, Sisters, Mom etc. can Ride ( who learnt to ride).
3) Small body dimensions ( No problem in Parking.)
4). Having lots of spaces to carry purse, vegetables, Baggages etc.
5). Cheaper price.
6). Fuel economy ( Low performance = High milage )
BUT STILL ....

Combine the milage , bigger wheels and motorcycle like suspension with gearless convenience , practicality of luggage carrying of a scooter. Best of both world's TVS XL 100😊😊
PS: Within City limits speeds upto 50 is quite decent
I wish an upgraded version of TVS XL 100 comes with fuel gauge, footpads instead of footrest, backrest, 110 cc engine matching performance of Zest or Jupiter.
Alternatively in countries like Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines etc step thrus like Hero Honda Street are available updated with latest features.
I second to this. TVS XL100 fits me well. Only problem is in my country, the Philippines. Parts for TVS is very hard to find.
You forgot one point. With a scooter you can fit one, maybe 2 small children in the underseat storage, meaning there's more seat room for you and mom

Can I ask a question please: I’ve been to southern India several times and noted that the roads even in cities like Chennai can be very bumpy. So why do people ride scooters with such small wheels? If you compare for example an Australia/New Zealand Honda Dio 110 to an Indian Honda Dio 110 you’ll see the South Pacific version has much larger wheels, disc brakes and ABS! Wouldn’t this be a better choice for India as larger wheels would smooth things out when there’s a rough patch of road to travel over. Plus no Saree problems that motorcycles create! 😄
Yeah. Few days ago i went on a 20km trip, and while it's good on highways, the smaller tire is a disadvantage with potholes, etc., and kept thinking about how a bike is nice in this scenario lmao. The only reason I'm keeping in that I can place luggage between legs and underseat

What about a scooter like Honda SH125i or Honda Vision 110 which has nearly motorcycle sized tyres in the bad roads test? Why are manufacutres not making (or rarely making such as Aprillia SR) scooters with such tyre sizes for India?

Geared are better...very less room for errors(if you know how to ride it properly) that would make you spend on maintenance and stuff....

And Scooty's whole body parts will surely starts making LOUD SOUNDS or NOISES. After some years due to bad roads (In our India bad roads are very common).

With the current fuel prices bikes(100-125 cc) provide 65-75 kmpl while a scooter provides only 45-50 kmpl and the suspension in bikes are soo much better.

Scooty doesn't give that riding feel but if someone is only upto commute than both are good
Bikes don't give the riding comfortability and confidence

Scooter by a mile. Motorcycles are a pain in the ass for me a s 5'4 midget. I love the lightness and shortness of seat of scooters. Also scooters have foot rests. Motorcycles are louder too. I absolutely hate manuals

I prefer bike over scooter because bike has more mileage, better suspension for bad roads. also usd suspension is not available in scooters. It has safety features like ABS, traction control.
Nowadays due to bad road conditions in some states of India it has caused more accidents mostly due to scooters. So I prefer safety better than comfort. I prefer bikes over scooters

In Indonesia scooters are way more popular.. Ladies wearing skirts can easily ride it..
For running errands n going short distances, scooter it better.. But its not as steady n bad braking system.. Motorcycles is better for long distances & much safer on highways at higher speed..

That's a silly question, because car wheels are also smaller than bike tyres.
If you desperately need mileage go for bike, if you desperately need to carry luggage go for XL series from TVS. If you desperately need fun go for any sports, cruiser, adventure bike.
If you desperately need comfort go for a scooter, and if you are a woman who feels discomfort on a bike for a scooter.

I'm so torn between a scooter and minimoto! Scooter is clearly not an offroad vehicle! I do think a scooter would be more practical for camping and shopping. Also Quebec is very rainy and scooter offers good leg protection.

Everything in a scooter is fine except for safety..
Literally every single time I'm out on a long trip to my home to office n back in Bangalore city (about 55kms).. before I reach home, I will atleast one man/ woman fall down from their scooter!!.. The scooters are bloody so stupid that they can throw you off so easily while a bike has so much more control in comparison!!
i think this is due to the xpreience & yes bike has more control over scooter......but one of my friend has different opinion he said.." yaar scooty mai pair ander covered rehtey hai isley lagegi nahi...lekin bike mai side mai rehtey hai....girey toh lagegi "......but I love bike.....in terms of control
That is a fault of scooter drivers ..not the scooter.... for me Whenever I go for city ride .. there is always at least one or two bike accidents on road .. Scooters have less accident den bike in City..
