UM3567 (YM2413 EQUIVALENT) FM MUSICAL SYNTHETIZER ROM SOUNDS + JCR DIY MUSICAL SYNTH DEMO

UM3567 is a musical instrument chip, that generate the sounds with FM (frequency modulation) technique. It is known by experts in arcade games, as it was used on the MSX computer. It turned out that this chip is equivalent to the YM2413. Although it has a 24-pin housing and is larger, its pins have the same sequence as the YM2413, which makes it easier to make an adapter and use the UM3567 instead of the YM2413.
I decided to test the UM3567 in my YM project, I made the adapter at home and it worked perfectly. I was surprised by the better audio quality than the YM2413 (Chinese clone). The UM3567 has a cleaner, warmer sound with more bass response.
I decided to share some results here in this video. At the beginning of the video I use an arpeggiator on the PC, which sends the notes via MIDI to the dyi synth. Then I use a controller to play the dyi synth.
The sounds you are hearing are actually generated by the UM3567, I only applied some effects with the Zoom G1 Four pedal. enjoy!
Note: UM3567 is not 100% compatible, there is some difference in your DAC that prevents it from working correctly in place of the YM2413. When connected directly, without modifying the circuit, the sound is completely distorted. It is necessary to remove the two 2K2 resistors that pull-down the MO and RO outputs.
