@@jerrysharp9722 I need to start on being able to separate the emotions I have from tough conversations. For most of my adult life I would have tears welling in my eyes as I tried to have a serious conversation. In the last week or so, just from journaling, I've found it easier not to have that happen.
"You have power over your mind - not outside events. Realize this, and you will find strength." - Marcus Aurelius Which Stoic secret do you find most challenging to implement in your daily life?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It's normal to feel stuck at times, but remember that you're not alone in this. Keep pushing forward and know that setbacks don't define you. Keep clearing your mind and focusing on the present moment.
The older and wiser I get, the more I realise that life is suffering no matter what you chose. You either suffer doing bad habbits and live in pain, regret and "what if", or you suffer becoming the person you aspire becoming.
I’ll choose embracing self discipline for myself to focus. As I have said before, I like joining classes for learning, or even joining a reading group or so, but I prefer to join these groups or classes after the present problem is solved. The video states a lot of good advice, I’ll let myself to get these one by one. Thank you.
Pls don’t get me wrong. I said I preferred to join classes after the present problem solved. It’s not about the costs of those classes, It’s not about spending money. It’s about my friends circle is being captured, if I meet new friends, these people will be captured, too. They would be requested to provide my every single move, like the situation I am in now. These classes, teachers, and classmates will form another circle. I am talking about the wolf sisters, not the people around who are helping. After all, who would like someone staying in any of your relationship without your consent? Besides, for online classes, to be honest and no offense, I am not comfortable to join these classes when I still have to share my screens with others.
Self- discipline principle has been embraced these two weeks. I have found stronger power within my self, my life has changed for the better. Thank you for your videos!!!😊 ❤
My son is studying Biology in University. He is taking a philosophy course and has been excited about it. He has quoted Marcus Aurelius & since these great videos have popped up into my feed. Love them !
I’ve been learning about and trying to practice living in the present moment for over a year now. It has changed my life and perceptions of what is actual. It’s true that our perceptions and conclusions about things affect how we relate to them , embracing or avoiding them. I think I’ve lost many opportunities to grow or become strong just because of pre-judging . I used to have a bad habit of as they say, ‘turning on my heel’ and walking away when I should have stayed longer. Or doing the opposite, staying too long and feeling obligated when I should have left, over-analyzing and trying to find reasons to stay. Difficult choices, but they needed more analysis at times and at other times less analysis and more decisive action. One of the biggest problems is perceiving a negative emotion as a positive one . That is a rationalization or blind ignorance. And it causes more confusion. I needed a clear distinction but more often lacked the clarity and acted with more doubts than assurance. Also, I’ve realized that I’ve been accepting the present moments without engaging , or immersing, enough with them. That leaves a lack of satisfaction, also. I can see that I need to be fully involved in things that are happening and not just giving a token involvement, which leaves me wondering if I could have done more. But that is usually due to fear of getting too involved and surrendering myself , which could change the certainty of my self -image and identity. I think our self-image should not be something we should think about all the time , but in my case it had plagued my thoughts since I was in high school , because of a poor self-esteem.
Hi going to focus on the present for two weeks ave been watching for some time and thoroughly enjoy the stoic printable have been their before and it is inspiring thak you😊
I will embrace the present moment... And I've been meditating and practicing mindfulness more and more as I learn about philosophy. It has already made a huge difference. It gets easier the more you do it. You will never be perfect. But the more you meditate regularly (and other mindfulness exercises), the easier it will get for you to "wake up" from "autopilot mode" and fully experience the moment. I frequently catch myself not being present. Being present is worth it. Even if the situation is negative. Especially if it is (you need to be able to react rationally afterall). My situational awareness in public has gotten a lot better too. I avoided falling into an unmarked open manhole recently and have avoided other obviously dangerous (or likely to be) situations by being present. If for no other reason, please be present for your own safety!
Two week update. I discovered that being present in the moment will require self discipline too and so I will try again the next two weeks and continue to grow by gaining more power of my own mind. And I think focus on fewer things by prioritizing what's important and what's under my control offer mental boundaries to achieve my overall self discipline to practice Mindfulness. Thank you for these videos. I will not be deterred from my path of self mastery and inner peace.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I'm glad to hear that the videos are helping you find internal peace. Keep watching for more content that I hope will continue to resonate with you.
