- Walking the River Arun from Arundel to Littlehampton is a delightful 6 mile walk along the grassy riverbank that takes a couple of hours. Shown here are the first 4 miles of that walk. The last two miles have been omitted from the video as they were mainly dense bramble paths and urban.
The video has been fast-forwarded @x4 to make it more watchable.

We just did this. The path is pretty well overgrown which, in parts, makes locating the top of the 45 degree river bank edge difficult. We found out when our left legs landed on unsupported grass! The last mile or so of the walk (after the video ends) as it approaches Littlehampton is impassible with brambles and other overgrowth so requires battling through on an unappealing wasteland. A Littlehampton local we met along the way said not many people walk it these days. Terrible shame it has not been properly maintained.
Just did this trail but backwards today, would highly recommend took me and the guys about 7-8 hours but we did stop to take pictures and look at the wildlife, we saw over 20 species of birds, fish, livestock and even a seal! We were very lucky we also got to see a cormorant hunting an eel.
My daily dog walk, lovely spot! My best sightings been a kingfisher
Where can you start from Littlehampton?
Shame you didn’t show the last bits, the bramble area has some nice spots and the Marina and rope walk are nice. Lovely walk, the Aurn way. Good video
You’re right, he missed the best section. Disappointing
Lovely video, thank you
I am thinking of doing this route in reverse .You mention thick bramble when you took this walk in 2020 .Was it passable or did you have to take a detour via local roads. Great video by the way .
Passable.
I couldn't see how long either on the notes?
It’s there in black and white.
Do you know if I can take my motorbike down this path?
It’s a footpath. You can’t.
How far is it and how long did it take? Thanks for posting
If you read the notes I’ve posted under the video, you’ll find out.
Nice video.... Is this footpath underwater in the Winter? Thinking of walking it this month (February) but I'm not familiar with the area
Not that I’m aware of.
You can walk all year
