This was really fun to watch after seeing so many of your newer videos. You seem so "calm" in this video hahaha. I do like how these older videos have a lot more of the steps explanined but I totally understand why your newer videos are lightning fast mainly because you have so many videos to do :-)
Idk if anyone is a fan of Futurama but Nibbler ALWAYS Reminded me of the Dewgong Line lol still never used one but if I did it’s nickname is guaranteed to be Nibbler
You know, it's entirely possible that, during localization, they actually named him "Chuck" entirely because he has that animation of chucking the boulder. I doubt we'll ever get any explanation, but given that the localization team had to give a bunch of non-Japanese names to a bunch of NPCs, it's not unreasonable to think they just did whatever came to mind at the time. Which is likely the same thing that happened with Sabrina, by the way.
Before watching: Well-rounded stats, STAB Surf, STAB ice moves and good normal moves for coverage. Starting with headbutt isn‘t bad either. This pokemon will do quite well throughout most of the game. Water type pokemon would be a big problem, because there are no good moves for type coverage, but there is no water gym (except for Misty‘s for which you will be overleveled so that shouldn‘t be too hard) and no trainers I recall with really powerful water type pokemon. Red‘s Blastoise will be annoying but frankly Snorlax might cause more trouble there and neither will be unbeatable. Honestly, Pikachu might cause most problem with its powerful thunder, but fortunatelly it‘s rather fragile. This will be a somewhat easy, straight forward run. However, it‘s not going to be as easy as Ursaring, since Dewgong simply doesn‘t have the same kind of power. After watching: Hm, this was tougher than I thought. Seel was really underwhealming. Didn‘t notice how long it took to evolve and get the better stats. Also forgot how good the special defense of Bruno‘s Hitmons are. They usually don‘t get to show it, but they really got buffed there for Gen2. Other than that, pretty much as I expected. Pretty good pokemon, but definitively with less power than the really dominant ones.
Randomly popped up for me as I watch other content creators who do Pokémon runs and I must say I enjoy your content! New subscriber here! Keep up the great work! You show a lot of informations and as cool as it is it just looks like filler for the screen. Showing what I can learn for moves is cool but not necessary to have visible all the time. With the amount of content you’ve created may I suggest your own top time splits with the Pokémon you’ve run with? or your best times of each split to compare with your other Pokémon? Excited to see what you create next :D
Hey Mike, thanks for your kind comments! The learnset being on screen is a bit of a cheat-sheet for me, as I refer to it all the time when playing the challenges! It's mostly there so I can quickly look over and double check a level for a move, or if I should pick up a TM while progressing through the game! Having the best splits for each segment is a genius idea, and something I'm definitely going to look at incorporating, if I can make it look good, and if I can ever figure out how LiveSplit actually wants to function!!
I've done some testing, ~100 Ice Beams with and without NeverMeltIce, and it seems like I just got really good RNG in the first half of the Red fights. Weird coincidence, though!
Wesley - the Wednesday sibling - stands in the same spot as the Rare Candy on Wednesdays, meaning access to it is totally blocked off! You'll get a Black Belt instead!
That's very, very kind of you to say, thank you! I don't mind if I get 10 views, or 10,000 views - if somebody's enjoyed the video, and found it interesting, that's really all that matters to me!
Question... I've seen some Crystal runs where you don't have to do the whole dragon's den thing, and there's runs (like this one) where you have to go through dragon's den.. any way to tell whether or not you'll have to DD or not
That's just some stealthy editing on my part - I still have to do the Dragon's Den segment, but I edit the text box to make it look like I get the badge as soon as I beat Clair!
Dang just barely not coming in under 2 hours, very respectably performance coming out from dewgong though, just the right blend of stats and stabs to make it through with little issue outside of the fighting types and red
Water/Ice is a surprisingly powerful type combination! I was pretty shocked at how well Dewgong did - I just wish I had done a little bit better with the tough battles to scrape it under the 2hr mark!
Hey! My all-time favourite Pokémon is Rattata, I've got such a soft spot for it, but any sea mammal is high up there on my list - they're all just so cute!
@@Squidgy Rattata! That's such an interesting choice. I think you're the first person I've talked to who said that it was their favorite. What makes you like it if you don't mind me asking?
I need to work on my video editing skills before taking on the Kanto starters, but I'm looking forward to them - especially as Red has all three of them!
I used to work in late-night broadcasting, and people would complain if we were anything other than soothing in the early hours of the morning, and it's kinda stuck!
Really wish they would have made the early game gym leaders have some more levels and experience to give out for beating them. Falkner has the lowest level pkmn of any gym in the series!
Thanks, Mack! Tuesday's video is all edited down, but I'm gonna start referencing the rules in the description instead of reading them every run - there'll just be a couple more with them!
Random comment for the algorithm: humans in this universe had casinos and high speed rail before they managed to figure out how Pokemon reproduce...
That's very true!
My career for many years was a dealer in a casino, so I wonder if I'd have been a Team Rocket employee in that universe!
@@Squidgy Rocket Admin Squidgy confirmed
@@RobKni76 ok that's amazing and I can totally see it happening
Dewgong is my favorite ice type, and Crystal is one of my favorite pokemon games, thanks for making this : )
dewgong is amazing in pvp too i always use it in pokemon showdown

Just for you, Robert, I'll do an edit in the old slower style in the next batch of videos!
@@Squidgy you are simply too kind to me! Congratulations on getting to 50 videos by the way!!! :-)
Thank you, bud! :D
I'm having a look at what we've got coming up, and I reckon that Qwilfish is perfect for a slower paced video!
@@Squidgy haha niceeee!! Too bad spikes is useless in speed running lol. Well maybe not totally .
You know what I'm like with the rarer moves, I've gotta give them some spotlight!
"and it goes boom." That delivery was great. Made me laugh.
Looking forward to more Crystal runs!
Have been with Scott’s Thoughts and Jrose since day 1… this channel bout to blow up
Thank you, Miles!

Now that you say it, I can't unsee the similarities!
Hahah the medium Martha bit made me laugh, she looks like she's having a hell of a time :D
That clefairy explosion with metronome was beautiful.

That is a very, very good point! I'd love it if they named him after his literal actions!
Dewgong was good in GEN1, Lapras was slow level up but if you trade for Seel you get a Medium-Fast with 1.5 trade boost experience

Yay Seal did a great job! I don’t think nevermeltice helps freezing. Interesting though.

Good showing from the little guy. I always liked dewgong.
i think my favorite part was celfairy going out with a bang.....and telling seel no. good day sir.
Clefairy was having none of it in this run! More power to Clefairy! :D
The algorithm was right to show me this. Definitely subbing and watching more. Keep up the good work!
How come you can't get that rare candy by the lake of rage on wednesdays? :o
Wesley - the Wednesday sibling - stands in the same spot as the Rare Candy on Wednesdays, meaning access to it is totally blocked off! You'll get a Black Belt instead!

Last comment :p I think nevermeltice and all other type-boosting items are just for damage! Must just be coincidence that you were freezing lots!
I think it was pure coincidence, but with Gen II's weird quirks, it did pop into my head while playing. :D

I found a shiny Alolan Rattata in Sun while going for a Munchlax to complete my Dex, and I fell in love ever since!
@@Squidgy Oh nice! Which form do you like more?
Why not rest when Snorlax is frozen??
I was banging my head on the wall watching that too
Why were you going for return against the Machamp rather than Surf or Ice Beam (freeze chance)?
This run was a couple of months ago now, so I couldn't tell you, even if I had a thought process at the time!
It would be fun to see Kanto starters ;)
