Alan! What a pleasant surprise to see this video, brother - thank you so much! Jim is not only a good friend but truly one of the best theologians and expositors of scripture I have ever known. He leaves no stone unturned in his book, God Doesn't Whisper, and brings such biblical clarity to an issue that is almost universally misunderstood by evangelicals today. So much harm has come from the HVG theology. Thank you again for this, Alan - blessings to you, brother and keep up your good work! And for anyone reading this comment, here is a link to purchase this and other books by Jim Osman: jimosman.com
@Justin Peters Ministries You are very welcome, Pastor Peters and thank you so much for your kind words. They always truly humble me. I just finished reading Pastor Osman's book and you are so correct. Pastor Jim is one of the finest expositors I have ever come across. His meticulous and precise exegesis of the key texts was absolutely amazing. I will add the link you mentioned to the video description above. God's blessings back, my dear brother.
@Justin Peters Ministries Hello Mr. Peters, I was wondering if there would be any allowance for the LORD to send messages to people today through dreams as long as it is in align with or confirmed by Scripture. For example, the many accounts of Muslims that have had visions and dreams and have come to faith in the LORD Jesus. I know you shared some doubt on that in a fairly recent video through Grace to You but there was this other video that elvaluated your assertions and pointed out that the late apologist Nabeel Qureshi had a dream and that was part of what lead him to Christ. Of course that was backed by Scripture. Here is the link to the video: ua-cam.com/video/Hq8K_mZmgUI/v-deo.html Please let me know what you think. I would really appreciate it. Thank you very much
@@jameybobamey7343 @Jamey Bobamey That is so awesome, Jamey! I am so glad to hear the LORD lead you to Him! He truly is amazing and will stop at nothing to reach us. That is cool that you had a dream that helped answer a question about His Word. He is so gracious and can use any method to clarify His Word and His will for us. God bless, brother!
In my Christian walk I've come to learn that God speaking to me is always and only in light of Scripture. I've not once heard the Holy Spirit speak to me outside of Scripture but rather always points me to the Scriptures. For example, one night when I was asleep, I heard or at least felt a nudge in my spirit pointing me to Philippians 2:3-11. After I had read it I felt convicted becuz I had realized that I wasn't living this out. I was being cruel to my wife and son, wasn't caring for others in love the way Jesus had commanded us, and these verses caused me to run to God in repentance. So yeah, the Holy Spirit speaks to me but only in this manner and never outside of Scripture but always in light of Scripture. If it doesn't line up I discard it and take it as not The Holy Spirit.
So glad people are tackling this. I was told in a church by an elder that since i wasnt recieving "nudges or impressions" from the Holy Spirit, then i didnt have the Holy Spirit. I confess Jesus as Lord, but i guess that's not enough. I left that church. God's grace is enough.
@Jesse Jackson The bible shows us who God is. That's what it's all about. That's what i learn about. How i was born a sinner and saved by the blood of Christ.
My friend received prophetic word that he was going to move out of his house, that doors would open for him within relation to furthering himself, education wise, work wise, I didn't know the word he got until he told me, that was after I had offered that he come live with me because he was being kicked out of his aunts place, needless to say everything that was spoken over him came true, he got to do his GED, got a job managing a cafe... I myself was very much stuck in sin and continuously I had this conviction that I was trusting in my own ability, using accountability apps, blockers etc... one night I had those words run through my mind you're not trusting me, the next day I visited a friend and I asked him what my issue was, he tells me you're not trusting in the finished work of the cross and to get rid of my apps... I've also seen what was prophesied over my life come true, I don't agree with overly charismatic people, I don't agree with the new apostolic movement... And everything has to be tested through Gods word... “And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions. And also on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days. Joel 2:28-29 NKJV We are not told that there won't be prophets but to test the spirits to see whether they're of Christ or not, true and false prophets are determined by whether prophesy comes true... I would say you have a very small idea of God if this is the view you hold onto, we know our God is very much alive and intends to have relationship with Him, please reevaluate the scriptures.
I came out of a Church that believed this. One of the worst things that I felt during my time there was the wonderment of what's wrong with me am I really saved if you have never had a Conversation or a dream. As someone who Believed 100% that if I died with sin in my life I'd go straight to Hell. My lack of these gifts was VERY Troubling to me.
Hearing the voice of God teaching was, and still is, very prevalent in YWAM (Youth with a Mission) schools of evangelism. Looking for God's voice outside the scriptures, opens us up to all sorts of error. There is only one way to be sure we hear the voice of God, and that is through the written word of God. It took me a long time to fully understand what the Reformers meant by 'Scripture alone', but when it finally dawned on me, my walk with the Lord took a dramatic turn. I was liberated from the uncertainty of not knowing the 'will of the Lord' in every situation, to trusting that He was in control and that I need not live in uncertainty about His will. “This is the will of God, that you believe in the one he has sent.” John 6:29
Holy spirit within speaks, not frequently but your spirit knows His voice! Been 40 yrs in the wilderness of this world, heading for the promised land and its been a roller coaster ride! Keep your face in The Word of God! God Bless!
You are blessed to articulate the truth of Gods word in a very logical yet biblical manner... From a white dude in Cape Town South Africa you have my respect.... Stay rooted and grounded because sin lies at the door and wait's especially for people like you...God bless brother
G’day Allen, God has spoken to me once, it was recently and it was three words, and yes it was a small (but very clear) voice. Based on the circumstances I honestly believe it was our Lord, only because it was entirely unexpected, absolutely accurate, and I was alone in the middle of the night! So a booming voice would probably have given me a heart attack. Whilst I speak to God all the time and have done for years, I don’t expect to hear from him outside of scripture so when I did it was an incredibly emotional experience. So whilst I agree that our Father isn’t going to have a verbal conversation with us, I would hesitate to to make a cynical statement that God doesn’t speak to any of us at all ever. He may never speak to us, or maybe once in our lives, or possibly for the some privileged few, a lot! Healthy scepticism, absolutely but cynicism, at our own peril, imho😃 Have a good week mate. Mark
Very well-said, Mark Thomas! I agree with you wholeheartedly. I had a nearly identical middle-of-the-night experience to yours some years ago. Inaudibly but very clearly, I heard four words that I was meant to share with my pastor. I was hesitant because I didn’t want to be one of “those people” but I also didn’t want to be disobedient. So, I hesitantly shared the simple message with him, qualifying it by saying I was unsure if it was a specific message from the Lord or just indigestion from a bad taco. His response: “You’re the fourth person this week who has come to me with that very message.” One important thing to remember, though. If one happens to hear from the Lord in this way, it is no cause for pride or boasting. It is all about the Divine Messenger, not the human vessel on the other end.
I heard the voice of the Lord once in the middle of the night answering my prayer. The next night, HE repeated the same two words. 2 months later it was fulfilled. It did align to HIS moral will and that was that.
perfect timing as I just got out of sociology class on the day we talked about religion (Which my textbook called out prosperity gospel preachers out lol)
The closest I would describe as "hearing" from God would be those moments of realization or clarity when I ponder a position or situation in the context of how they align with His word.
Thank you well put ... These folks are deluded by their vown experience and can't discern that small voices visions and dreams could be stemming from familiar spirits masquerading as God and the Holy Spirit
Recently gotten into a slump about hearing Gods voice, but this video clarified things for me again. The Holy Spirit has often brought scriptures back to my mind to convict me and remind me of What God says, e.g. when I started watching a Netflix show ( I wanted to give Netflix up for good ), before I had moved beyond the establishing shots of the first episode I had the dog returning to it’s vomit verse. Thanks be to God I was able to let Netflix go after wrestling in my spirit about it. I also remember when I was born again, a reason I was so passionate about the Lord was because I was rooted in his word and considered feelings and doubts garbage compared to the truth the Lord has spoken. Bless you for this video, may we always build upon the firm foundation Christ Jesus P.s. we must seek God in these last days in daily prayer and word
Thank you for sharing. I still unlearning how to Listen To God. Grew up Charismatic. Went to Pentecostal University. I shared JP's God Doesn't Whisper with my brother who is currently so angry that God has never spoken to him like He does to all those with which we attend church.
OK, first of all blessings to u fellow believers! I just want to make a small point; we should always be very careful when we say God “doesn’t do”something. It is dangerous to limit God and His power, passion and creativity to speak to people-although I do firmly believe that his foundational words to us all are the scriptures! Are you saying it is not possible for the Holy Spirit to put some direction in your heart? Of course we must “test” these things as we are fallible, yet...
John 13:16 ”However when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth; for He shall not speak from Himself, but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak; and He will show you things to come.” I myself have had a strong thoughts that came out of nowhere that came to pass numerous times over the years. Profound things, nothing trivial.
Insightful as always, thank you brother. Good to remember Hebrews 1:2 as well in these times - "but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world".
And he speaks with his Holy Spirit. If that passage says what you are implying than it means all of the accounts of prophets, and prophecies, in Acts are false, as well as all the times the Apostles were directed by the Spirit. (Like when it stopped them from spreading the gospel in Asia). Speaking through his son doesn’t just mean the specific words of Jesus while on earth. He even told us he was sending a helper. The same helper that then led apostles and other believers. And who we don’t have a single verse telling us He will stop.
Your talk was very timely for me. I really feel bad because I never heard God speak to me and always wondered what was wrong with my relationship with Him. Thanks for your talk that gives me much encouragement. I will continue to read the Bible and pray, and seek to obey what he commands. And stop wasting my time seeking some special feeling.
I watched part one of Justin's video the day it came out, and haven't yet followed up on the other two. (I need to) and I am in agreement with all Y'all. I've often questioned those who say I have a word from the Lord for you, or that if we quiet our selves enough we should hear Him. I shake my head. Thank you Allen again for your service, it is appreciated. Enjoy the rest of your week.
Ok but what about the presence of the Holy Spirit? The joyful rejoicing feeling when you receive him, the burning fire, the terrible sadness when he is grieved, it’s not a voice but it is his spirit guiding you.
These people commonly reject “emotionalism”. But you are totally correct. The bible says the Spirit convicts, he even “brings to remembrance”, that means he can give us thoughts. All of these things don’t need to happen as you are literally reading the bible.
Amen to that! The Bible says that God is the same yesterday today and tomorrow! But all of a sudden He has stop speaking, performing and miricales. Make it make sense!
Mr Polite Leader. . . Thank you very much for your very kind review of my book, God Doesn’t Whisper. You were very gracious and I appreciate you highlighting the dangers of this theology. Without Wax - Jim Osman
You are more than welcome, Pastor Osman. I am deeply indebted to you for your work on this subject. Your book will indeed be a great benefit to the church of Jesus Christ for many years to come. Thank you so much for your labor and insight.
God bless you Alan! I am always blessed by your videos! It is refreshing that there are some men out there that are theologically sound...and will be able to lead their family in Christ. I know God uses you to bring Him glory. Thank you for all you do.
John 14:26 “26 But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”
In younger years I was caught in this ideology. Maybe not deeply ingrained in it, but the idea had been presented and it was something I thought was real. Now I try to steer away from using the phrase "hearing from God" or other arrangements of such words. I have a better understanding of what I thought was talking. The things I hear are not miraculous, not still small voices. Recently I've been interviewing a person to be part of a ministry. The prayer at the forefront of my mind is for discernment. For years, I think the gift was there, slowly growing, but i wasn't feeding it correctly. What I believe I am experiencing is seeing the Spirit in other believers. I honestly am still trying to wrap my head around it.
1 John 2:27 “27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit-just as it has taught you, remain in him.”
Thank you so much for this. You have no idea how much I needed to hear it. We're on the brink of a big decision - and could not figure out how on earth to discern God's will on how to proceed. That's always been such an issue - "how do I know I am doing what God wants me to do!" This is so liberating!
I can agree that we dont need to hear Gods voice in order to make decisions. That does not mean He does not speak to us outside of the scriptures, produce signs, etc. I have prayed for signs of confirmation and received them. Scripture alone is sufficient but that does not mean God does not or will not speak to us. This video seems to leave out the ways God does speak to us and how to listen. Just my thoughts...
Exaclty, God can work through signs to show us that something is the right decision but this does not make Scripture not enough or irrelevant. For example, we might be thinking about taking job A or job B and we pray for it, God can show us through signs that Job A is the right one and this sign could come through Scripture
The Lord has spoke to me out of scripture. He answered my prayer by scripture in a dream and He saved me by means outside of scripture. God is alive and He speaks
Test the Spirit.. Because Joseph Smith claimed God Spoke to him in dreams and visions ..and he started the Mormon. When the sufficiency of Gods word is not enough you open yourself to be deceived..It's very believable because of an your experience. However Satan comes as an angel of light and masquerading as God and the Holy Spirit and vsn answer prayers..our senses can not be trusted .This is why cessstionist believe in Sola Scriptura . The Catholics practice Lectio Divina where they open themselves looking for signs and voices...You will find this is where the most demon oppressed and possesed people are.
An angel came down and spoke to the "prophet" Muhammad, too. That was the birth of Islam. But even before him there was Montanus who believed in special revelation from God and his two female prophets that supposedly heard the voice of God and spoke His mind at the direction of Montanus. You are probably familiar with Scientology but you probably don't know that their teachings virtually parallel Word of Faith in just about every way with exception to semantical differences, and Joel Oesteen, Joyce Meyers, Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland and many, many others who ALL teach the extrabiblical heresy that we can hear God's voice BEYOND scripture. And they are making money hand over fist with their own self-styled messages on this subject. None of their methods are exactly the same from the other and all are multiple steps to getting closer to God but none of their messages line up with scripture. My life is filled with numerous extrabiblical experiences growing up in Pentecostalism, attending a "School" for prophets, running from conference to conference to hear God speak to me because I had not yet developed the ability to hear God's voice despite decades of exhausting and frustrating practice. After over 40 years of no answers to prayers for my life, bad choices, no healings, money issues from bad investments - basically living that lie and searching for the truth everywhere but in the Bible, I finally started to read the Bible passages IN CONTEXT and I discovered that the Bible says nothing even remotely similar to what all of these "still small voice" people are peddling. God was finally opening my eyes to the lies I had been taught and He miraculously delivered me from Pentecostalism and Word of Faith heresies and I'm telling you that I never been more free in my entire life than I do right now. When I was finally ready to stop living the lie and submit to God through Christ's lordship, He delivered me. I spent 42 years in religion but I was not saved. I know now more than anything that God only speaks through His word because His word is clear on this subject, no matter if there are millions of people who attempt to speak or write about the multiple steps required to develop the mysterious ability to hear Him speak. In ancient times, King Saul used a soothsayer, as did the Moabite king who used Balaam. In modern times, Word of Faithers describe the use of formulas to hear God's voice. It is all witchcraft in God's eyes and the one common theme that I now see very clearly from my 4 decades of pentecostal experience is that there was plenty of witchcraft and demonic activity being practiced in those churches and just like the Brownsville revival of the 1990's, they think they are "safe" because they are in church. Those of us who have read Peter Cartwright and John Edward's writings about the bizarre ungodly manifestations in the church should have instantly recognized the same signs at Azusa Street in the early 1900s, Brownsville and Vineyard in the 90's and now at Bethel Church in Redding CA and really any other church where they (like the Quakers and the Shakers believed) believe that one must go beyond scripture in order to hear God's voice for that special revelation. This belief is a viral epidemic that has done far more damage to the Church in practice and reputation than the COVID-19 virus will ever do after it has run its course because this "HGV" heresy has the potential to affect a person's spiritual trajectory for an eternity and that is an incredibly slim margin.
Such a good book and great vide. This has been such a relief for me. I never heard anything or didn't know if it was God or my own thoughts. If I read the Bible, the whole Bible, I learn all I need to know about GOD and HIS plans/purpose for me.
Allen, great work done here, I think you should do a follow up video, as touching the issue of Providence, it may help all who are coming out of the HVG movement and clear all those experiences they claim they had.
“Providence” is just a funny way of saying “God doesn’t speak! He just speaks to everyone perfectly from the beginning of time! He doesn’t give you a thought or prompt! He just providentially gave you those exact thoughts!” Sounds a bit ridiculous right?
Personally, I've experienced some supernatural events. Though I understand that it is MY experience alone and was meant for me to understand; I do not attach it to the already written God-given word of the Bible. My experience does not override my faith but it is kept in the back of my mind that we are spiritual creatures and the spirit realm is very real. Good video.
Thank you for this video! It helps me a lot as someone who just got accepted into college after a long time away from it. I've been wondering how to know what I'm supposed to do and this is wonderfully helpful. Keep up the amazing work.
John 16:13 “13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”
Good video brother. I watched Justin’s 3 videos with pastor Osman witch lead me to buy his book. I’m not finished yet but it is a very good book. I would recommend it to anyone who is confused about this HVG subject.
Those running around in search of God's voice outside of the Holy Scriptures, I believe their main problem is that they have such a lower view of the word of God where they treat it as something archaic where God spoke in the past and is no longer speaking to us now in the present. Here is the testimony of the Scriptures: "For the word of God is LIVING and POWERFUL, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. " ~ Hebrews 4:12 (Ephasis mine)
@@lukericker8325 if you think that way, then I think whatever you think the Spirit is telling you, you can write it down and add it your Bible, because that's what makes the Bible the word of God.
While I definitely agree with solely scripture for doctrine, Joel 2:28 convinces me that God cannot be put in a box with the way He can communicate with us. Any vision that do not line up with scripture is not from God as God won't contradict His word. However, I think the purpose of dreams and visions, I think, is for encouragement from God. Also, God could remind you of what He is doing through visions. Visions however, DO NOT TRUMP SCRIPTURE!
Thank you Allen again ive learned, I used to think that God spoke outside of scripture. I now don’t think that anymore. I have some heavy duty repenting to do. Please pray for me and my faith, please I need it. Help me!! Thank you
John 16:12-15 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.
Well done. Thank you. Jim Osman's book is set to be on my desk early next week. I've watched Justin's videos with Jim and now yours. Looking forward to getting into the book. I, for one, would like to see a video or two by you laying out the truth of verses abused by some to make their erroneous points.

Succinctly presented, and biblically solid as ever PL. Thank you so much! Looking forward to your follow up videos. Thanking God for you, and your ministry brother ... may He richly bless you, and yours.
My previous church was big into this sort of thing. Even after entering a semi-reformed congregation, they were not keen on listening to my rebukes of "hearing the voice of God" style theology. My experiences in this was one way that I was able to see the interesting differences between teachers like Wayne Grudem, John Piper, and Tim Keller vs. John MacArthur, Voddie Baucham, & James White. I consider the latter more consistent with the biblical message, as their argumentation does not involve worldly means. I feel someone vindicated, as the social justice issue has shown the former to be highly questionable. Thanks for helping us think through these issues Alan.
Saying that God doesn't speak outside of scripture isn't scriptural, sorry to disagree with this one, I've had plenty of times where God has affirmed Himself in and outside of scripture.
Awesome .Then go ahead and add another chapter to the bible tell us what he said just like the Apostles and the Prophets did . We will wait .. What are you going to call the new book. Kundalini ?

@@robertgalea1562 Good morning brother. ABBA Father bless you. What i meant when referring to Gods voice is not literally hearing His voice though the manifestations through scripture, dreams, people or any and all things in this life which will reaffirm He is there with you. Back around 2002 I found myself crying out to Him asking for a sign. Prior to this unforgettable moment in my life sadly i had temporarily ruptured my marriage due to my unfaithfulness. We were living in Laredo Texas at the time, we separated and i ended up working for a company in McAllen Texas which on my day off my coworkers and I went to South Padre Island to have fun. While there I was feeling broken and grieving for my broken marriage and family. I wandered into the water while repented, praying and i cried out for a sign if its time to go back after about 6months. As soon as i finished my humbled supplication for a sign from Him I did a 180 degree turn facing the coast and immediately a tiny fish about 3 to 4 inches mostly purple and somewhat yellow jumped out of the water caught some air about a few inches of water level and dove back in the water. I knew it was His sign reaffirming He was listening. So you see. This universe is His. He built it. He governs it. He listens. And He answers to serve His purposes. Its biblical because we read about events like this in the scriptures. Abba Father bless you my beloved brother and may He grant you the Spiritual Things of His Spirit which will continue to give you the strengthen while in our "narrow paths" journey. All this I ask in Our Lords name Yeshua Hamashiach our King Jesus Christ amen amen and amen.
How helpful this would have been for me, 20 years ago. I can only imagine how many people are being helped by this video and the book. A friend says that she "feels" God opens her eyes to certain truths (A-minimalism and non-eternal hell), which then make it impossible for me to disagree and explain why I don't believe that, because she says, "Well, God showed me what is true, so..." Perhaps she's "whisper-lite"? LoL

@@328am Tread lightly when you start emphatically claiming what the H.S. never (or always) does. Our Sovereign God does not tend to fit nicely inside the boxes we like to create for Him.
@@nwoods58 I am all for optimism and to not put God into a box when it comes to what God can do, but we should also never base our faith and practice on anything that’s not revealed in Scripture. That’s the point of Scripture, to reveal and give us everything God wants us to know about Him. I am not correct in this matter, Scripture is and there is no new Revelation...
Too often what I find, is that expecting God to speak, whisper, to you is a replacement for reading His word. I am guilty of that as well. Through prayers we seek to find responses to our petition. God does answer prayers. Yet, His Holy Word is there for us. Don't neglect our spiritual growth, I know I will act upon this.
Don't forget about when J.D. Greear said that God "whispers" about sexual sin but "shouts" about materialism and religious pride. Even though every vice list begins with sexual immorality, and as James White pointed out, Sodom and Gomorrah is not a whisper... Great video!
I am not sure, but is this the denial of rhema or is it simply a reprimand on desiring to hear 'extrabiblically' or out of the bible (not consistent with or either an addition or subtraction)?
So glad to see this, as so fed up with everyone saying God told them this and God told them that, and God told them to marry this person or that person. So ridiculous
The fact that man has the nerve to put God in a box makes me tremble at the thought of Judgement day when the teachers have to give an account as to why they would deny God’s supernatural guidance in the lives of believers.
Hmm 🤔. Eg: What if you get a dream of a specific scripture spoken to you in the dream (that you never remembered or memorized prior to the dream ) that was what u needed to help you in your distress/trial? And you wake up knowing it was from God.
I've often had prophetic dreams and heard God speak to me in a number of ways, signs, etc. While maybe we dont need these things in order to act, it doesnt mean God doesnt speak to us outside of the scriptures

I hear you making the same error a multitude of times in the video in your assertion that hearing the voice of God comes apart from scripture. The word of God is sufficient to lead us and guide us in all things godly, yet God does still speak with an audible voice. To know if it truly is Him, whatever you think you hear needs to agree with scripture. If it doesn't, scripture trumps whatever you think God said. There are believers who seek an auduble voice without taking the time to be in His word. They place themselves in a position where deception will come easily. The Bible is our foundation, our guide and help by which we examine all things, yet I know I have heard His voice guiding and correcting me on my journey. I think you short cut your walk if you are unwilling to hear. I go to His word first and foremost.
Brother Allan. I strongly believe you are correct on this topic though I also strongly believe that we need to also listen to Gods voice per say through dreams, unexplainable encounters or circumstances and this is to build our faith and trust. So its not erroneous approach on both perspectives. May the peace and love of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you and those that read this comment. Amen

We cannot limit the limitless Creator.
@Mark OnTheBlueRidge Maybe i should of made myself more clearer. I was agreeing with Allan about sola scriptura though i was also elaborating on the fact that God can utilize His creation to call upon us.
@@lukericker8325 You are not understanding the definition of God’s Providence. A study in this would be very helpful. He works all things according to His will. The average person in NT and in the OT did not expect to HEAR from God directly. Hebrews 1:1 (we now have Jesus’ words) and they listened to Moses and the Prophets.
So true, I hear that all the time too. I've done it too. I think we want to sound holy and spiritual, or put authority behind what we're saying. But then we neglect the proclamation of God's word.
Can you correct this I don't know if this is false But I have experienced it. When I read the Bible sometimes God reveals the meanings of them to me I'm not saying an audible voice no but Like I just know the answer is this true and correct and does this line up with scripture "when I read the Bible sometimes God shows me (not with an audible voice) the meaning of the scripture" does this line up with scripture??
There’s not much of him that I may know, but there’s a lot of attention on his son Andy. If he has shunned church attendance then there are some issues. Hope this helps in someway.
His son, Andy Stanley, believes that the Old Testament does not have bearing on modern times and has been capitulating to a more watered down message. Charles seems relatively sound in his doctrine but is at times shaky with the "hearing God's voice" on a frequent basis issue to assist in daily life. It is at the least concerning.
CS isn't that far off in theology from his son. He's talked about things like supposedly God told him where to get his Thanksgiving turkey one year. Plus he's really been unqualified for over 20 years. His wife left him in the 90's because he neglected the marriage. Biblically he should have been made to step down and take care of his marriage first. After they were divorced no one made him step down. He said someone had to pastor the church so he stayed. That alone is against God's plan for a marriage and a pastor.
Paul writes that "for you can all prophesy one by one that all may learn and all may be encouraged" (1Cor.14:31)....also in Joel 2:28..."Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions..." How can we prophesy if we can't hear God. "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God," .....if God no longer speaks, we cannot hear and faith will not come. "My sheep hear my voice, and they follow Me." Give me chapter and verse that confirms that God has struck down this scripture.
They get the whisper idea from The still small voice they believe God spoke to Elijah with. A prophet that they and I are not fit to tie the sandals of but somehow God is speaking to them like this inside their heads and not audibly the way God spoke to Elijah with. Great video sir! God bless you!
Does the bible say Elijah was a man? Or a demigod? As you seem to imply? Is God a respecter of persons? We actually get the idea from the whole counsel of scripture about the Spirit leading, and examples of the Spirit speaking in and through people in the bible. What we _don’t_ have is a single verse telling us he won’t speak, or has stopped doing things he did in Acts. Only your man made doctrines.
Hi, Brother Alan. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us about Beth Moore claiming to hear the "still, small voice of God." Apparently she has gone off the rails Biblically. It doesn't surprise me at all after watching the UA-cam video of her Joyce Meyer interview. Beth couldn't have been any more of an obsequious sycophant toward Joyce Meyer had she tried. May our Lord bless you abundantly, Alan, for cherishing God's Word and doing all you can to teach the Truths found therein.
He is not using "ordinary" in the colloquial sense-i.e., "not special or distinctive." Rather, he is using it in the theological sense. God's "ordinary" providence is the most _common_ way he executes his decrees. "Extraordinary" providences are those occasions which God breaks his typical manner of executing his decrees. For example, ordinarily by God's providence he causes the sun to rise and set in 24-hour cycles. In t least one instance, though, he broke that "ordinary" way of working to cause the sun to stop.

@Justin Peters Ministries You are very welcome, Pastor Peters and thank you so much for your kind words. They always truly humble me.
Here is the link to the video: ua-cam.com/video/Hq8K_mZmgUI/v-deo.html
Please let me know what you think. I would really appreciate it. Thank you very much

@Justin Peters Ministries John 10:27
“27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”
John 16:13 & 1 John 2:27
@Jesse Jackson Jesse, none of what you said is biblical.
@Jesse Jackson The bible shows us who God is. That's what it's all about. That's what i learn about. How i was born a sinner and saved by the blood of Christ.
@Jesse Jackson And that's the power of the Holy Spirit. Even the ability to say, Jesus is Lord is by the Spirit.
@Jesse Jackson Theological ignorance and spiritual sanctimonious
@Jesse Jackson Yes the bible does teach us Kudos !!! however you lack scriptural discernment.. but keep trying !!
Joel 2:28-29 NKJV
We are not told that there won't be prophets but to test the spirits to see whether they're of Christ or not, true and false prophets are determined by whether prophesy comes true...
I would say you have a very small idea of God if this is the view you hold onto, we know our God is very much alive and intends to have relationship with Him, please reevaluate the scriptures.
If it's prophesy then you need to add it to the Bible.
The prophecy you heard wasn’t of God, period.
@inti deep.. please read Hebrews 1:1~2.
Mark
Amen to that!
His response: “You’re the fourth person this week who has come to me with that very message.”
One important thing to remember, though.
It did align to HIS moral will and that was that.
praise. 🙌
@Jesse Jackson love your humbleness. Glad you had that experience and your faith was magnified 😊
perfect timing as I just got out of sociology class on the day we talked about religion
(Which my textbook called out prosperity gospel preachers out lol)
Bless you for this video, may we always build upon the firm foundation Christ Jesus
P.s. we must seek God in these last days in daily prayer and word
God can speak to us in different ways and is not limited from doing so, but He gave us His Word to guide us.
Hi Allan from South Africa always so informative to listen to you helps a lot God Bless
Thank you for sharing. I still unlearning how to Listen To God. Grew up Charismatic. Went to Pentecostal University.
I shared JP's God Doesn't Whisper with my brother who is currently so angry that God has never spoken to him like He does to all those with which we attend church.
You are welcome. I hope Justin's work helps me.
I'm in the unlearning club too! :) I'm also certain the number of our membership is huge and growing. Godspeed
Awesome video Dude! You really can " hear" so much of God's voice even in just the 1st five chapters of Genesis. At least I think so.
Thanks so much, kid. I greatly appreciate it. Yes, the opening chapters of Genesis are quite majestic and we can truly hear God's voice in them.
@Marc Swanson ua-cam.com/video/0maL4cQ8zuU/v-deo.html

As with cessationism the idea that God doesn't speak is a modern day heresy, Alan.
@R A N T I T G A L Absolutely

It's called providence
Providence
I absolutely agree with you on this
Yeah..... No. I don't want a voice in my head. No thanks
The Lord has spoke to me out of scripture. He answered my prayer by scripture in a dream and He saved me by means outside of scripture. God is alive and He speaks
Absolutely!

God doesn’t use dreams anymore, show me anywhere in the New Testament where he says that.
This theology was my thing. I regularly practiced and preached this. Because of God's grace, I have recently gotten out of this.

Thank you, Elisha. Yes, that is a good idea. I may consider it.
“Providence” is just a funny way of saying “God doesn’t speak! He just speaks to everyone perfectly from the beginning of time! He doesn’t give you a thought or prompt! He just providentially gave you those exact thoughts!”
Sounds a bit ridiculous right?
Personally, I've experienced some supernatural events. Though I understand that it is MY experience alone and was meant for me to understand; I do not attach it to the already written God-given word of the Bible. My experience does not override my faith but it is kept in the back of my mind that we are spiritual creatures and the spirit realm is very real. Good video.
Amen, same here

Here is the testimony of the Scriptures:
"For the word of God is LIVING and POWERFUL, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. " ~ Hebrews 4:12 (Ephasis mine)
Isn’t the Spirit speaking also God’s word?
Why didn’t that passage use “scripture”?
They try to pretend that “all flesh” doesn’t mean for “all” the last days.
They just want it to mean apostles or some later date that they won’t name.
Thank you Brother for what you do. I learn a lot from you sir.

I already watched Justin's 3 videos and found them to be well done, but your video, Alan, was a great summation of the main points. Fantastic!
Thank you so much, Carol. I do appreciate it.
Thanks again Alan this us a far more dangerous practice than most realize! I learned from experience

You're very welcome!
this video is so much needed specially during these days. God bless you. keep it up
Thanks for speaking the truth👍
Love Does by Bob Goff and Driven By Eternity by John Bevere both had many instances of God “whispering” and it never sat well with me... it creeped me out actually.
@Kendra Christine Great discernment as always, Sis. Yes, it is quite creepy.
Did it creep you out when the Spirit spoke to and led believers in Acts?
You make consistently good videos. You're one of my very favorites. Keep it up!
That's very encouraging! Thanks so much!
Succinctly presented, and biblically solid as ever PL. Thank you so much! Looking forward to your follow up videos. Thanking God for you, and your ministry brother ... may He richly bless you, and yours.
Thank you so much, Cinds and thank you for that blessing. God bless as well.
Thank you so much for helping me understand what is biblically correct. I wait patiently for your videos. God Bless you. 🎚🙏😍
You are very welcome, Angie. I'm so glad they are helpful to you. God bless as well.

Hello Alan that series was amazing and I cant wait to read the book. Hope you have a very blessed CHRISTmas . God bless you brother 🙏
Thanks Polite Leader & May Our Great Lord Jesus Christ Bless Yu So Very Much & May He Be With Yu Always.
As with cessationism the idea that God doesn't speak is a modern-day heresy, Alan
So much clarity thank you 🙏🏻
God bless...
Kundalini ?

Thats offensive. I hope you apologize because Jesus Christ does not teach us to disrespect nor ridicule. The brother is actually right. Ive had manifestations of Gods glory which built more of my faith, confidence and love. So it is biblical to listen to Gods voice because theres many believers in the Gospels that were called.
@@isaacperez7580 We all have the Holy Spirit when we are born again in us guiding us as Moral Compass.. those are the little voices. Good morning brother.
Exactly. Especially with signs.
Thank you for the short but helpful discussion giving clarity to this topic.
LoL
I can’t wait for you to blow the minds of many when you reveal what the “still small voice” is and how it means nothing to us today 🤯
the "still small voice" is the Holy Spirit.
@@orion7741 It’s an Old Testament reference when God himself was speaking to Elijah like He always did to prophets. The Holy Spirit never speaks audibly... ever
As always, great work brother Alan. Well done.
I 2nd your endorsement of JP's video series. This was all good and very useful. Thanks, Alan.
You're welcome, Jase!
Great teaching!!!
Thank you!
thanks!
thank you for this, I'm relieved
I am not sure, but is this the denial of rhema or is it simply a reprimand on desiring to hear 'extrabiblically' or out of the bible (not consistent with or either an addition or subtraction)?
So glad to see this, as so fed up with everyone saying God told them this and God told them that, and God told them to marry this person or that person. So ridiculous
The fact that man has the nerve to put God in a box makes me tremble at the thought of Judgement day when the teachers have to give an account as to why they would deny God’s supernatural guidance in the lives of believers.
His book is very good, it did help me.
This happened to me
Because that’s biblical. And certain human traditions teach against it for x,y,z reasons
Please read Hebrews 1:1~2.
@@teedoubleu9602 Hello Tracy
1 In the past God spoke(A) to our ancestors through the prophets(B) at many times and in various ways,(C) 2 but in these last days(D) he has spoken to us by his Son,(E) whom he appointed heir(F) of all things, and through whom(G) also he made the universe.(H)
Where in this scripture does it imply or say God doesn’t speak today?
Amen

Its not a contradiction my beloved one. Many like yourself want to box God. This is His creation. He can use any means possible. I agree with brother Allan though kindly disagree in putting limits. Thats all. Then you utilize grammar to correct in which at the end of day you are missing the point. We cannot limit the limitless Creator.
@Mark OnTheBlueRidge

@Mark OnTheBlueRidge
Maybe i should of made myself more clearer. I was agreeing with Allan about sola scriptura though i was also elaborating on the fact that God can utilize His creation to call upon us.
would you please do a video about Seventh-Day Adventists teaching?
Good points!
Thanks!
Doesn't the Holy Spirit guide us in everyday life? Is that considered God's "voice"?
These guys say he doesn’t. You are only led by scripture specifically.
@@lukericker8325 thank you for clarifying. Makes more sense.
Cant wait to watch those video. Could help with evangelizing towards YWAM
Yes, thank you! I was thinking the same thing, as a former YWAMer.
Whats wrong with YWAM?
Interesting video many times u hear
“I heard God say” as a cop out for Bible reading laziness hmm
So true, I hear that all the time too. I've done it too. I think we want to sound holy and spiritual, or put authority behind what we're saying. But then we neglect the proclamation of God's word.
What about prophecy? Asking genuinely...
Alan, are you going to be at the next G3 conference in Atlanta next year?
Hmm. Doubtful. Especially if they make the vaccination mandatory.
Speaking of Charles Standley, is he a truly biblical teacher or should we be warry? Could you make a video on him?
There’s not much of him that I may know, but there’s a lot of attention on his son Andy. If he has shunned church attendance then there are some issues. Hope this helps in someway.
@@ethankaryadi37 Has he shunned Church attendance? For Covid? Or some other reason?
His son, Andy Stanley, believes that the Old Testament does not have bearing on modern times and has been capitulating to a more watered down message. Charles seems relatively sound in his doctrine but is at times shaky with the "hearing God's voice" on a frequent basis issue to assist in daily life. It is at the least concerning.
@@jackjones3657 I see, in what context does Andy mean it doesn't have any relevance in the modern day? Like at all or just some things?
What are your thoughts on the Bible project here on UA-cam ?
Stay away from it. The creator denies penal substitutionary atonement and is therefore a heretic.
It’s quite odd to hear that anything God does could be considered as “ordinary”
He is not using "ordinary" in the colloquial sense-i.e., "not special or distinctive." Rather, he is using it in the theological sense. God's "ordinary" providence is the most _common_ way he executes his decrees. "Extraordinary" providences are those occasions which God breaks his typical manner of executing his decrees. For example, ordinarily by God's providence he causes the sun to rise and set in 24-hour cycles. In t least one instance, though, he broke that "ordinary" way of working to cause the sun to stop.
