- What a cute model, can't wait to see it on the shelf looking new again! - The only things that I can see that it needs are a new crew, a repaired drawbar, a couple of horses and a repaint. HOW WRONG WAS I !!?
See how things don't always work out and feel my embarrassment as I realise that I have bitten off more than I can chew and don't have the time or the means to fix it!! :(

Beautiful child in elderly man... Beautiful craftsmanship😊.
99% wouldn't even mention the missing piece or call this a fail. Marty is one fair and too humble guy. Thanks Marty! A pleasure as always!
Turned out awesome.
Just realized halfway there was no background music and I thought "no wonder it seemed off" lol. Excellent video Marty.
Hello Marty great restoration nice to have you back
Its great to see you back to a weekly schedule. Always enjoy your vids and projects. Keep them coming!!!
I just love newspaper... 😅😅😅
I'm sure that it will amazing once the final part is put on it.
Thank you Nice to have you back, from Heni 🇿🇦
Hey Marty
Great outcome 😊
Take care
Good one Marty! I'd count the decal as a win.
Well done Marty👍👍👍
The missing piece did not extinguish your five-alarm talent. Great job as always.
Have you ever used a spot weld drill for the rivets? they leave a flat rather than countersunk finish.
Nice one! MARTY.
This is great.
Great restoration Marty , l think we can forgive you for tye missing part (make sure Kevin hasnt hid it somewhere 😉 😂) looks fantastic though 👍
SWEET!
Brilliant job!
Hi Marty, glad to see you working on one of these, and a great job it was too. You made me fished out my example: bought new and in very fine condition with black horses and all-black figures. The boiler is gold but the pump behind it is silver, and the driver has his feet touching the footboard, so it seems the dimensions of the replica figures are a little bit off.
Hey Marty, it's good to have you back making Vid's, Awesome job! 😁
Marty, you should consider hyperdetailling a piece. Painting faces, guages, barding on horses. Etc. Admittedly beyond the scope of your usual work. But perhaps a nice challenge.
Wow Marty! I actually had that one when I was a kid. Thanks for the memory. 😊
Good thing Kevin didn't start any fires for the fire company to put out
Surprised to see a New episode so soon. It made me happy. A New model to me, lovely, would like to see the picture of it when its complete. So, no harm done, no fail😉 For us watchers some thing extra to watch out for👍👍👍! Thanks Marty, again a lovely model👍🥰
A mi me parece un excelente trabajo, la atención al detalle y la paciencia con la que realizas estas restauraciones demuestran la pasión por lo que haces, felicidades
Not a fail buddy ❤
Beautifully detailed, Marty! I hope you enjoyed this model...missing parts and all. I certainly did. 👍
Superb restoration marty, those decals can be a pain when you have to trim them and it's fiddly when there that small excellent 👍
Do you own any matchbox trains ??? If so I would wanna see a collection on them
Always a treat to see your videos Marty. Been a rough few weeks for me but your vids are always a comfort~ Shame about the missing bit (we'll blame the post) but another beautiful restoration nonetheless~
Nice restoration, details and paint job!!
If you painted the buttons as well it would really show off the firemen.
❤WE WANT KEVIN!🐨
Sorry you had so much horsing around with this fire engine! Looks great to me. Well done Marty! Wonder what Kevin did with the pump part after he got to the mailbox before you did. Hope one of the farm animals doesn't have new dental braces..... 8^) Cheers.
Do you keep your small files, medium files and large files in a filing cabinet under F for file? 😊
Ha Ha!
MARTY....dont beat yourself up. You did a beautiful job....
How ia this a fail? It looks fantastic and when the part comes it will be added... its just a work in progress not at all a fail!
Marty, I’m currently watching your video. What is that tank in the background at 7:17? Looks like some ww2 diorama, anyway you could show it off in your next video? Would love to see it!
Marty this is by far my favorite UA-cam channel. Times were dim when you took a break from restorations🥲🫡
Moin from Cuxhaven 👋🏻
Don't be so hard on yourself...
The restoration is an incredible feat. Restoring all these filigree individual parts to their original condition is magnificent craftsmanship 🤩👍🏼
It's not your fault that the "pump" (?) was missing. I'm looking forward now to seeing the "finished" model when the replacement part has been delivered.... 😃
BTW... I know someone in Sydney who will love this episode. (G'day Jim, this one's right up your alley, isn't it? 👨🏻🚒🇦🇺👍🏼 😉)
Marty, I'm absolutely thrilled, definitely a thumbs up for this from me. 👍🏼 Many a thanks for sharing 🙏🏼
Stay safe and sound and keep up the good work, mate 😃
Have a bonza weekend to you, Julie and all the team behind the scene.
Greetings from the DCcoB on the sunny North Sea shore

😎👍🏼🇦🇺🍻🇩🇪👍🏼🤠
(P.S. I hope KEVIN 🐨 is doing well after his "accident" with the Sentinel Steam wagon.... 😄)
Yes Sparky, it sure was. I found it quite enthralling.
👨🚒🇦🇺🍻
Marty is back. Life is good! Many thanks from Thailand. Time to dust off some projects. Thailand Paul
Marty, I have about 18 cars of yesteryear that were a Christmas present in 1961 or 62. Most of them need work and some are missing pieces. Thank you for posting your videos. You have inspired me to restore them.
I appreciate your frustration over the missing part, but you still did an amazing job.
… and the beheaded firemen.✌️😝😉…Greetings from Germony
It looks lovely. But if I look with the eyes of my eight year old self, I'd be very disappointed that I couldn't take the horses off and put them in the stables. And then sound the alarm and put the horses beach on in a hurry again to goo and pour out the fire. Yes, I see it makes sense in the display cabinet to use the glue. But, over fifty years on, there still are traces of that eight year old in me.
26:52 that stuff is so small it makes my hands shake just watching , at the end of the video we get the blooper reel lol good touch, you not only put a lot of effort in to the models but just to make these videos, people do appreciate it Marty
WOW. Immediately my favorite! Not just because of the obvious connection but you did such a great job. I really think I need to get and restore one for myself now! Thanks.
Wow, thank you! Paul
Hey Paul thank you so much for your kind words! I'm thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the video and that it resonated with you as a retired fireman. It means a lot coming from someone with firsthand experience in the field.
I'm glad you appreciated the restoration work on the small matchbox model of the horse-drawn fire engine from England. It was a labor of love, and I'm delighted that the effort and attention to detail came through in the final result.
If the video has inspired you to consider getting and restoring a similar model for yourself, that's fantastic! It can be a rewarding and enjoyable hobby, allowing you to appreciate the craftsmanship and history behind these miniature vehicles.
Should you decide to embark on your own restoration journey, I'd be more than happy to offer any advice or assistance you may need along the way. Feel free to reach out anytime, and once again, thank you for your wonderful feedback.
The spring punch is an AWESOME addition to your toolset. I haven't seen you use it before. Gorgeous model, beautiful restoration.
Awesome!! Put that amazing build in the display cabinet! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
G'day Marty,
Well done. I'm looking forward to seeing the model completed.
Regards
Tom, USA
@12:04 - "Angry Trucker Fires 5 Bullets into UFOs!"
Why doesn't MUFON ever get these reports from the Weekly World News?!?
😅
Marty! Lovely video, old chap! So nice to see you, again! Are you ever bringing back old Kevin? You made some incredible videos with him, man..! Cheers, mate! 🍻
Yes I am! - Watch my previous last 2 or 3 videos.
Great job as always Marty! Was Kevin grounded for this build?
Always a happy surprise to see something new . I enjoy watching so much.
Have you ever repaired a motorcycle or with side car. I don’t recall ever seeing one. As i ride, it would be most interesting. Regards from New York 🇺🇸
You did a fine job, all things considered. My guess is that Kevin photoshopped the pump out of whatever photos you were using for reference, thus the missing piece.
I was thinking the same thing! Seems like the sort of thing he'd do.
My apologies.
I recently read your description of how you repair and paint one model at a time.
I had a collection of vintage Matchboxes, some without boxes that i was going to send to you.
The firetruck you are repairing i have this one but in excellent condition.
Its really amazing how much patience you have bringing these little gems back to life.
Im really thankful i discovered your channel
Keep up the good work!
Another great video Marty! Looks like this one gave you just a bit of trouble. You handled it beautifully. Thank you!
Hi Marty, It. is always fun to se the good work you do with the little models, and also the newspaper you have as protektion when you paint, this kind of stuff about the UFOS are only in some of the minor newspapers I think, and I like it.😃👍.
aww. but what can one do being unfamiliar with a model? as a kid I used to have the Side Hut Truck, and didn't find out until recently there ought to be a plastic hut going onto the bed. XD you're refreshingly honest about it. it's also a little lesson, too. some parts always seem to break off first. ^^
love the result, looks as new, with fresh horses and dedicated firemen. :)
Nice job, Marty. You ever thought about getting a 3D printer to reproduce missing pieces? Maybe not worth it but just wondered.
Under high magnification, the paint finish on this model seems to be one of your best. Excellent job and video. I always like that background music. Never change it. I should edit in that I don't see this as a failure at all. It's one the best ever and the added parts will be the icing. Thank you for your hard work and interest in a very enjoyable hobby.
Great job as usual. I think it would look really cool if you touched the firemen’s buttons with gold also. Just a thought. Keep up the good work
Memory's just flood back watching your channel Marty , one Christmas my aunty bought me this I thought it was the best present in the world I played so much with it , it ended up in same condition, thanks so much for the youthful memory's 👍🇳🇿
Oz after too many cups o tea the "hose holder" had his hands full to say the least

Reetings from brooklyn
Such a great looking casting. I wouldn't have been able to not paint details on the firemen horses and on that brass pump.
Came out looking good Marty nice to see you back with such an interesting makeover.
'Fail' maybe, but it looks amazing and worth the effort + interest.
This is hardly a failure. Looks great and when the missing piece comes it'll only make it better.
Marty, what are your feelings about the decal having the wrong color for the unit / station number?
Marty: Goes 12 months between posting videos
Also Marty: Wont wait a day or 2 to post a videp 😂
I guess the word FAIL, means something different in Australian
It's always attention to detail Marty, you've got that right. And it shows in your makeovers.
Would kevin ever make a UA-cam channel doing all his pranks and maham on you that wold be funny and I wold subscribe to that channel
I've come across this type of decal. Solvaset worked wonders for me.
Kevin must be on holiday, he wasn't about to muck things up.
No Kevin? I expected he'd be around to start a fire and see how well the pumper worked.
Well they'll just have to return to the station to pick that piece of equipment they forgot.
Don’t say it was a fail Marty that was a great video we all make mistakes but this one didn’t affect the video and your skill
Hi Marty, in all it turned out well. Good to see the old one's back, All the best Brian 😃
Great video anyway, Marty! Man, I've really missed you !
We have a Ziggy too! She's a rescue from the Caribbean
That come out more than amazing.
I love it.
Well done Marty
It’s always weird to hear your own name. I’m not the sender of this model though.
Cracking job Marty, that was one tricky model to work on
You can call this a fail because it was a struggle, but the results speak for themselves... that turned out gorgeous
Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew…😂😂
You knocked out of the park there Marty! Nice job!
Where Is Kevin???
Konvalescing!
Somehow or other, it's Kevin's doing... 🙃
Yay Marty's back! It's been a while! 😊
Excellent Marty! Another great makeover mate.
Another wonderful MMM, thanks for the entertainment! This one actually looks really neat, I like the detail on all the parts. Don't sweat the missing piece, what proper Firemen hasn't left something behind when a call comes in? One time a fire crew close to where I live, left a pot on the stove when responding to a call. Needless to say the firehouse was as well done as their dinner. Lol thanks again and have a great day.
I don't see a failure here. I see a "Part 1."
My dog’s name is Finn as well.
Be careful with the background tabs when you display a website...😉
Ha! Ha! , you are the first to comment 😂
With the "fail" label, I was thinking that you accidentally crushed the chassis in a vice or twisted the wheels into pretzels whilst removing them. Overlooking a small part you did not realize was missing at the time of unboxing is hardly a fail, especially when a replacement can easily be sourced from a vendor. Have you considered that the part was originally there, but Kevin removed and hid it away to play a joke on you?
Ps. Back in the day, had all the original Yesteryear models and still have them, thanks to a few purchases by mom and the receipt of a gift of the first two Yesteryear boxed sets from an uncle and aunt. My 1960 Matchbox catalog showed the Shand Mason as a forthcoming model, but never did get one. Your restoration today has motivated me to look about for a suitable candidate at a show and have a go at it myself. Thanks for continuing your fine video series, glad you are back!
Hi, how do you make the black wash for the matchbox wheels? Great content, would like to see more matchbox aircraft!
It's very easy Scotty, I just use Tamiya X1 Gloss black and dilute it with Tamiya thinner until it is the consistency of water. Brush it on liberally with a latger than normal brush.
Beautiful model of the fire brigade wagon. The restoration was incredible, good video!
Many thanks!
I think we need an episode for Marty's MANicure Makeover. 🙂
Win 😂😂
Working hands 😊
Those are the hands of a hard working man. They arr just fine. 😅
Plzz😊
Oh, you NAILED it right there! 😅
Very nice Result.😊
❤😊👍🤩☺️🤗🦼🦼🦼🦼
