Slide is a weakness of mine as well. It's hard to find that sweet spot of the action high enough for slide but still comfortable for everything else. My church is playing this song a lot in the original key.

How high is the action on your guitars?
I don’t measure it. I’d say it’s “normal” to slightly higher than normal.
