All of the foreigners in this video speak Japanese very well. It’s always impressive after learning a new language of you can speak and hold a conversation for a while. I learned many helpful tips to help me along my journey studying Japanese. I started learning Japanese two weeks ago and I’ve been learning it every day ever since. I hope to reach a proficient level one day. I found a few apps that help you practice speaking phrases so that’s really helpful.
these foreigner's Japanese are on a different level. they are really, really good. Also, can you put their background context next time so we know what country, why they are here etc?
but they aren't 'really really good". that's just because you don't know any better. They are actually really 'mid' and their inflections, phrasing, and vocabulary, let alone their accent, is really lacking. What's misleading is that "I've only been in Japan for

In fact, the white girls spoke quite strange, with clumsy and unnatural intonations. I would rather say they have about a A2-B1 level in Japanese. It is indeed something difficult for a westerner since they are in general quite soy and cannot make a real effort to acquire a language like Japanese or Korean. Comparing to the most of European/American Japanese learners they are okay, but very far from 'good'.
Pay attention to and practise pitch accent. Early on. Leave it to later and it will be hard to fix. All things being equal, good pitch accent is what will make your Japanese easy to understand, authentic and compelling
This video brightens my perception on learning Japanese. Its so fun to see the unique and different ways people learn and study, even if its the exact same language.
6:51 you don't know how nice it was to listen to you slow down the questions bc she spoke more slowly with an accent hahaha I was struggling trying to keep up before and I'm visiting for the first time next month, scary!

As a beginner in Japanese, I began my journey with manga and anime, but I struggled to understand the main idea without assistance. I used to depend on Google Translate, which didn't help me progress in learning the language. Now, I prefer Immersive Translate because it presents both languages side by side, allowing me to learn new words and phrases on my own rather than just skimming through poorly translated texts.
Great interview. It's always good to see other people that were able to learn Japanese and learn what kind of methods they used. I'm learning right now but honestly, it has been really hard for me, especially the kanji and all the readings part. My motivation is running on the low. I'm not sure what will be the result of that but I will give my best. I don't know, in 3 years or something like that if someone reply this comment I can answer on what happened and if I succeeded or not.
I studied Japanese for over 7+ years and I would say just keep studying and you're always making progress. There was only a few times during my studying where I could actually feel myself getting better. The first was when I was taking an actual class at community college. I was lucky to have a good teacher and classmates. After that when I switched to online group classes all in Japanese. My class at school was basically conducted in English so this was a big step up for me. And then later I moved to Japan and at the one year mark I actually noticed Japanese didn't seem so damn fast anymore. Just find some way to study that you can do every day and be patient - and real conversations are really really good although if you're not in Japan they might be hard to come by. But in order to fully take advantage of those real world conversations you need to be studying regularly too.
The only thing I don't think people should do is change their phones or computers to Japanese unless they already are in Japan or more advanced. It doesn't really help beginners much until they already know how to read Japanese anyway. Until that point, it just makes using their electronics more confusing. There's a lot better ways to study than switching the language of a computer.
Yuriko san, I’ve been studying Nihongo for about 6 months… Using Genki, but moving very slowly. I am a perfectionist by nature..I think this is hurting me… Do you think that I should be more realistic and move on more quickly??? Best, John
I was thinking these people are all nihongo geniuses. They are quite good but then I noticed there's also jumpcuts to keep it interesting 😂😂 That guy from India in the beginning in particular was impressive (actually I've met several people from India with really strong Japanese). It might seem backwards but when I hear a non native speaker use a word I don't know I take note and learn it: 推奨、慣用句、非教科書
Would you make a new video about how they got their visa for Foreigner who's living in Japan, like how to they get it? And how long does the duration of the visa? Thank you 😊
I think the topic if the video is very good but it was cut too much! Having a pause over a few seconds is better that cutting everything out. Especially for the Japanese learners here.
7:49 actually I don't think I'm going insane, she's speaking fast and mispronouncing things occassionally right? I can't manage to speak that fast despite singing japanese songs since I was 11 (and I'm now 24) so something had to give lol
Obviously doesn't matter, she's so much more fluent speaking than I could be, but interesting to know it seems easier to slip up trying to speak at that pace.
I was wondering, is it true that most times, Asians find it a little bit easier to learn Japanese than other people like Americans? I have heard this a few times, so i am kinda curious how a language might be easier for a particular set of people!

I'm mostly troubled to learn hiragana, katakana and kanji because they are not used on a daily basis. Honestly, I'm more used to romaji or romanized writing of Japanese words, so it prevent me from developing my writing and riding comprehension. This is quiet informative, Yuriko-san. Best way to learn Japanese:
1. Watch anime in Japanese Sub
2. Watch J-movies & drama in Japanese Sub
3. Listen to Japanese songs
I recommend to watch speaking Japanese Vtuber clips.
because, they are use naturally Japanese and subtitles.
