Thanks for showing regular surfers, like most of us, just having fun. I get tired of all the pros and their fancy UA-cam channels where you have to watch them brush their teeth and call their mom and drive for a while and look stupid and then watch them paddle out and say hi to everybody. And THEN finally do some surfing at Pipeline or Jaws with a GoPro in their teeth. Places most of us will never surf. Thanks for showing regular surfers in good old South Bay. A lot of guys getting tubed was great to see. They had some waves they will remember. Thanks. Good channel. I subscribed.
I lived in the South Bag for 30+ years and maybe saw it pumping like this twice. Now living in Phoenix you're making me miss the days living on The Strand and catching waves. Thanks so much for the videos and Third Rock from the Sun, great music choice.
Got back from the PNW late Sunday night, now I'm stuck watching this swell from the tank farm up on the hill... Damnit Boy. Thanks for the footage, and remember groms, you never know if you're going to make it, if you don't pull in.
@@BradJacobson I love your videos, they remind me of single night showings in single screan theaters, up and down the California Coast when you couldn't hear the narrator being deafened by the hoots, yews, and whistles from the crowd. Ahhh, the days before VHS.
its nice to point out the cultural differences....where I'm from its considered almost impolite not to pull in on someone or snake them in the line up....Adam- Kirra, Queensland, Australia

Dude, I actually didn't mind your commentary. Kind of a Bruce Brown style throwback. Living in West LA it's cool to see the local spots at their best. Don't mind the Jazz either.
Always love your videos Brad you are a master.. you narrate them so well too! I like the music because most surf videos use gangster rap or over the top punk. Keep it up.. thank you! I used to make surf movies for years I started up in the early seventies with a Super 8 camera and graduated to video. I live in Ventura county and surf point Dume in the summer and Oxnard in the winter
Holy cow! Can you please make a full length surf video, with commentary, and music! Love this soundtrack, especially. Your editing was great, too. Would be great to include some travel destinations! Thank you for this :-)
I lifeguarded on those beaches in the 60's & surfed them year-round. We had many days like that in winter and in August (different swells). If it got to where there was nothing but big closeouts, it was a short drive to Sunset Bl, County Line or Rincon. Haggerty's & Lunada Bay south of Torrance too.
I always watch the ocean stuff riding the heavy waves with heavy music like SoaD or Delta Parole or with relaxing music videos in background. If crazy like then always heavy tho
This is the second surf vid with cocktail lounge music, I hope this trend catches on big time, we need a bit of class these days, by the way has anyone seen Don Redondo of Redondo beach around lately?
Nice to see a little bit of shape returning to the Soth Bay... It will probably take a 100 more years to get back to normal... the South Bay used to have winter surf to compete with most of the spots in San Diego, but back in the 70's the city commited a crime against nature when they dredged the sand bars out and dumped the sand up on the beach to make the beaches more like "Miami" for tourism! If that were to happen today, there would be a class-action suit
Interesting to know. Yeah... LA County Beaches and Harbors are absolute idiots. Ventura are geniuses in comparison. Truth is - Flood Control and Dams upstream - are going to prevent a good comeback story.
I worked at fart house Junior year in high school. I did not last long until i got a job at the yacht club snack bar. Was much more fun. Was summer of 87. I was so bitchen.
Voiceover, not too serious in tone, lots of surfing, relaxing instrumental music - More than a touch of the Bruce Browns about your video style - in a good way! New subscriber here from the cold and dark of Northern England!
@@RNicolasRuvalcaba Hmmm, gotta defer to Carlos, but in this case, repeating some melody from Third Stone seems to honor Jimi and probably not quite the same as out and out copyright infringement. Not like the guy stole it and created his own song title.
@@bradsillasen1972 I wasn't implying anything negative. It's actually cool to hear someone do it in a subtle way vs. blatantly jacking entire songs then taking credit for them, like Zeppelin did on their first three albums... But that starts an entirely different conversation that has nothing to do with surfing.
Subscribed. Refreshing to see surf footage set to music with people playing, ya know, actual musical instruments vs a bunch of electronic nonsense. Nice to hear commentary too that doesn't channel Jeff Spicoli as well. Amazing that this approach is counter culture these days. It's like an anti-anti Runman movie with jazz instead of surf punk.

Hats off to the guys trying to master those freezing closeouts. Liked the mellow music and your excellent commentary. Great job !
Thanks for the nice comment. Those guys were charging!

Yeah, great music lying back in a dentist chair!
Thank you brad, I went to Redondo High in the 80s and I love to watch south bay when its hitting
You're welcome. Thanks for watching!
Man I’ve been really enjoying your videos! Reminds me of how Bruce Brown would document and throw good music together with premo surf and fun people.
Really appreciate that. I'm a big fan of Bruce's films
Jazzy feel music vibe. Like Bruce. Local feel even though I'm not (florida).
Loving the mix of jazz and surfing
Thanks brad for making such awesome videos, it’s really awesome to have something to smile at after a hard day at school much love.

This felt like a how it’s made video but surfing, dope!
Nice work Brad! I'm missin' those suicidal pain train trips to gaping close out bottomless pits at El Porto! Thanks man!

I actually like the fact my mans took the time to point Out proper surfing etiquette and teaching someone to surf u should always mention this rule

Love these videos! East coast had great waves at the same time, too.
East coast has been on fire this winter. Thanks
