Further south there are spots of ice near the NS Buffalo Line line bridges at Northumberland Pa.
Between Sunbury and Clarks Ferry the river is 50/50 (frozen shore lines middle flowing like normal).
Clarks Ferry south to at least Middletown the river looks just like your area, mostly frozen solid!

That is amazing to see all that frozen ice, and the frozen water fall. That is the most frozen ice, I ever seen in PA. And the ice forming on the ground in that train tunnel, that's amazing to see that. Awesome JP👍👍👍👍
It got very cold here JP in southern Texas, we got snow. It was amazing to see a late snowy Christmas, not to much ice build up in my part of Texas,

Yes I live in North West Florida about 35-40 miles east of Pensacola and last week at my house I got over 7.5 almost 8 inches of snow. Fortunately no freezing precipitation, it was all snow. I work at a near by Air Force base. It was closed Tuesday through Thursday with normal operations returned to normal Friday morning. There were some areas with 20 miles received even more snow, a reported over a foot. It broke all time records for one or two day snow fall that was set back in Jan 1898 ar about 3 inches. I reminded me of living up north in Northern Va, Wash DC area. We also set all time cold low temperture where thr day after the snow as 19 degrees F with wind chill of single digits.

What an awesome adventure! Made me a little nervous too when you were out on the ice on the river, but it was neat to see. What a gorgeous sight that was when you first showed the waterfall! The ice formations and nature's frozen tears in and around the tunnel and actually all the places you showed are just beautiful. I don't mind the winter with reasonable cold and snow, and you would think I would be used to this type of weather living in Minnesota, but this subzero tundra type weather always feels so eerie to me, and such a relief when it finally warms up again, like you said, when it gets up into the 20s and so forth it feels like a heat wave. lol We generally get at least one bout of it during the winter. So fantastic that you caught a train too, that was fun to see! Pennsylvania is beautiful in the warmer months, in the colder months, and even now during this strange freezing weather. I think it's cool to be a kid at heart, that ice formation was taller than you! lol Like I said before, you were so brave to get out and explore during those frigid temps and you gave us another amazing video, thank you JP! 💙

All of the ice was so beautiful, especially in and by the tunnel. I was thinking, JP knock one of those big ones over and you did! So cool. The train couldn't have showed up at a better time. Think I like my cold better than your cold. We had a couple of days that didn't get out of the 20's and got down in the single digits at night. I'm in Northern MS btw. We didn't get any snow the day everyone in the south did but we got about 5" the week before that. Here in the south they usually just wait until the snow melts which usually happens in a couple of days. Where I live, there's one plow for the whole county and since I am way out in the country they don't do our roads. If it ends up needing plowing they usually use a road grader and/or tractor with a blade. In New Orleans they used bobcats and front loaders to scrape up the snow and load it into dump trucks. It's in the 50's and 60's now. Gotta love the south.

Great stuff JP. Love the Nay Aug tunnels. Those Alco 628s put on a nice smoke show for us. Classic.
That old DL&W line is a classic also, imagine the old steamers chugging thru there and that mountain scenery.
You should explore that line down further from Cresco north and south. There's a rock cut above Cresco that used to be a tunnel.
Bet it's a nice scene. Cresco has a neat preserved station, now a museum.

I live in South-Central part of WA State. East of the mountains is basically like a desert, drier and totally different than the west (wet) side of the state. The snow is mainly in the mountains. I live in a valley and we have 0 snow on the ground. We have had temps in the mid to upper 40s and sunny days. The nights have been cold though.
I love the videos you do of PA. I miss it quite a bit. I grew up in the Wmspt area and come back and visit when I can.

Well JP, you know I'm in the Philippines so I haven't seen ice like this in many moons. I'm a kid-at-heart who still loves cold weather and a good snow! Loved this video. The graffiti under the Market Street Bridge was awesome! The partially frozen waterfall at the park was awesome........indeed a winter wonderland! It's so sad that it has such a terrible history of deaths. That jumping point gives me the 'willies' just thinking about standing up there looking down. And you DID save the best for last. I do remember those train tunnels from past videos but seeing them with the added ICE is fantastic! The question always comes to my mind when I see tunnels like these...HTH did they cut through that rock like that and come out perfectly on the other end?????? Blows my simple mind, LOL! I looked up Luna Park and found some incredible photos. Thank you JP for posting this video. I thoroughly!!!

Cool video, beautiful winter scenery. Interesting going through that tunnel you can see how they made it, you see the drill marks where they used dynamite. The original tunnel would have been done by hand, no pneumatic or steam drills or shovels, and maybe black powder. That the original tunnel is still in operation is amazing .
Loved the freight train with the 4 engines, must have been a long train.

Monday all day it rain and washed the rest of the snow away. The swamps iced over been under 28 degrees and mabe 50s days. Monday most of this week we get a warm up 60s to lows 70s now in a few days we lose all the heat again back down near freezen again.. December 22nd heater went out so for a long time no heat wat so ever. Finally was able to get sum propane and cylindars for Buddy heaters well out of cylindars but still got big tanks full of propane. this Morning got down to 42 degrees inside our home right around 54 it still cold.
