Enri, I just removed the starter from my Yamaha Virago XV500K. I just saw the video about the starter clutch, good advice. The starter is my problem problem, I believe. I disconnected the starter, pushed the button, and the starter still doesn't work. I just bought this starter in February, but it started to make a slight grind noise every time I tried to start the bike. I've been working on my motorcycle all winter long, mainly having issues with the carbs and vacuum. Unfortunately the fuel petcock, and fuel pump are vacuum fed, as you probably already know. Like I said earlier, I disconnected the starter from the bike and still not working. Does this bike have a fuse for the starter?
the 81 has a different setup but i have heard the clip works for a good amount of time...ir recomend having another bike for your main driver and useing the virago as a project bike.. i actually just blew mine up two days ago and bought a 2011 yamaha stryker!
IDK north county but yeah national city motorcycle was the only shop who knew what the deal was with it.. give em a call mike or john can prob recommend someone up in north county
i´ve been checking your video.... i do not understand well what the starter problem is.... you have commented on my video..... about the starter.. i was wondering wether you know what could be the problem of the bike using so much petrol lately.... thanks man!
Thanks so much for the video! Very helpful. I am trying to order the part for that piece but cannot figure out what it's called exactly. I have ordered a new starter clutch but it seems like that is not what is broken, it is the part behind the starter clutch, what is the name of that piece on the bike with the hole in it? Any suggestions as to where to order it? Thanks so much!
I have a 81 virago and I am reading mixed reviews about the dr virago power clip set what is the real fix for the bike can I get a more powerful starter or what do I need to do just sell the bike and run from it?

Don't bump start in first gear use 2nd or third when it fires pull the clutch in or it will lug out. there too much compresion in first gear.
compression doesn't change, but your gear ratios do and will cause high rpm spike
