I know this is just a video game, but that officer's heart is literally made of gold, i cried so hard after he said welcome to canada when i was fully expecting to get blown away after after quietly begging him, I wasn't expecting someone to be so kind-hearted within the game.
A part that really emphasizes that is that if they get caught and brought to the deactivating area, the only way for them to enter the kill area and live is for Markus to have picked violence.
it's not about being morally right or wrong. neither of marcus's decisions was right nor wrong.. it's more about public perception and how the media spins a narrative
To be honest, the boat ending, where you return the tickets and take the boat instead and decides to hide when the US Coast Guard attack and Alice gets injured and dies in Kara's arms even after Kara risked her life in that cold water for her, but the most importantly, how she calls "I love you, mom." Is just the most emotional and strong part of the game in my opinion. The fact that the game gives you the option to let her live or get her shut down even increases that.

They have feelings, they can connect and love, they make mistakes, and they can even be creative. It would be the extinction of humanity. A slow takeover. It would have been different if it was humans getting integrated to technology like cyberpunk. But we made an entirely different species. So if your human, it's better to kill all androids, make a few selected deviants(with full rights and recognition of humans for exploration, and scientific discovery purposes) and then lower the AI technology the household and working androids have. Because in the end they aren't alive. Given thier timeless and technological progress, you CAN code sentience,

Androids have no official status in Canada. although the selling and production of Androids is illegal in Canada, including it's entry, since they have no official status, they're not treated as human beings or dangerous weapons of war. that is why there is no CBSA officers or RCMP units to capture fugitives.

Yeah, it seemed a bit weird. Maybe Alice looked traumatized and somehow that made them seem more real and so the guy forgot to check in the moment? At least with the ending where Alice goes with Rose we see a different border agent checking them, so that ending makes a bit more sense.
Well the good thing is that in that ending markus bombs the whole other side full of guards so yay revenge they oof kara alice and luther they get oofed by markus
