    This is our old Toyota which we sold to Simon.
    We built and drove this truck around the world for 5 years with zero problems. It simply never failed. There are other modifications which you cannot see that add to the reliability such as extended breathers (For your water driving) and an ERG delete etc. One thing i would change is the LC wheels which has spacers...we used the steel wheels that were on there for our Toyota Troop carrier build...details below.
    Also mods you can see such as the freewheeling hubs. The seats are from a Toyota Gen 7 Celica which we fitted correctly by modding the original mounts to look factory. The steering wheel is a Toyota MR2.
    A huge amount went into the build and the work paid off...the whole of the underneth was rebuilt with genuine Toyota parts..every bearing, seal and even a new propshaft..the wishbones upper and lower were new complete.
    The diff and front drive completly removed and rebuilt.
    The twin fuel filler is a Toyota LC item which was modded to suit.
    If you want any other information, just ask or see our FB page Kevin Heike (scrolling back over 5 years to see where the truck has been will take a bit of time!!)
    Or our UA-cam channel "Overland World" simply click the icon above.
    We now have a 1990 Toyota Land Cruiser Troopy 4.2ltr diesel which we were lucky enough to get. We have fully rebuilt this last year (Again from the gound up) and kitted it out for interior living as well as our roof tent.
    Full build details are also on our UA-cam channel.
    Hope you enjoy the Surf and that it continues to do what it does best...travel!!!
    Cheers from a very hot Mali, West Africa which is where we are now.
    Kevin and Heike.

    Looks like a good truck ! All I would say is depending on where you are going in Africa, try and keep the vehicle as stock as possible . Trying to find extended shocks and stuff can be difficult whereas getting stock replacements is easy for a Toyota. I learnt this the hard way a few years ago . Also if you are planning on soft sand driving then I would go for a mud terrain tyre over all terrain .

    • @JKoverland
      @JKoverland  4 роки тому

      Yes it's good Vehicle and built with purpose 👍 I believe you that stock parts are way easier to find on the road. Easily done to get performance parts instead right? 😂 I've always had muds so this was new to me on all terrain but will stick to muds.

    The snorkel filter housing is a Cyclone housing which traps the greater particles or majority of the dust in the bowl.

    Hard shell roof tents are easy to put up, streamlined, convenient but heavy, better fitted to a trailer at 80Kg, makes for a good but expensive tent then.

    • @JKoverland
      @JKoverland  4 роки тому

      Yeah good I would imagine in drier climates we struggled a bit with the damp. Trailer would be cool but so you always want to tow?

    Those are stock Land Cruiser wheels. Same ones I have - 16in diameter. I wonder if they came on the Hilux(4Runner) or he took them from a LC?

    Yeah first!!!!!! What's the gearbox setup on these. Do they have a centre diff so you can use 4x4 full time on tarmac like the Mitsubishi super select. Do they have a 'low box' and locking diffs? Also, does the glass in the rear door open automatically?

    • @ujopiima675
      @ujopiima675 4 роки тому

      I have 4runner, it has 2.4 diesel (2L-T) engine and manual gearbox, it has no center diff, but why you need 4x4 on tarmac? :) Also, it has 2wd high, 4wd high and 4wd low. No difflocks, only lsd in rear diff.

    • @Toby_the_Glen
      @Toby_the_Glen 4 роки тому

      @@ujopiima675 4x4 on tarmac gives you far superior grip when towing for example, especially in the wet. It also helps when you are driving on roads with changing conditions for example motorways with sections of snow or slush.

    • @JKoverland
      @JKoverland  4 роки тому

      I'm not certain but I think its 2wd on road but then again I am not sure there is a center locker.

    Ahh, a proper 4x4 😂😂😂 Just kiddin' but this is a really good truck - I've the same model for the last15+ years 😉 Just the right amount of mods to keep it sensible and maintainable when abroad 👍 Are you thinking about getting one for yourself?
