Leigh, these (red) crayfish are an invasive exotic animal, in NL. Officially, whenever you catch one, you're not allowed to throw them back. They are so agressive that they overrun the native species. Also, they make deep burrows in the canal shores, to hatch their eggs. This undermines the canal sides and can render them unsafe. So, as much as I appreciate your love for animals, the best thing you can do is like Ramon said: Keep 'em, and have an awesome meal... Cheers!
Nothing personal, but you can’t tell me or anyone to murder any of Gods creatures. I do not kill insects animals fish or fowl. Let animal control do their job if it’s such a problem.

@@facistbuster yes, indeed. most of crayfishmeat in processed food is from the species Procambarus clarkii, the red swamp crayfish, which this one looks like

Being an Aussie, I'm surprised that Leigh didn't recognise those as 'yabbies' or 'crayfish'!
They make good eating as long as you have them swimming around for a number of days in a tank of cleaner water to flush out their digestive-systems, a process that is also used for prawns & shellfish like oysters & mussels!
In the southern US, we call them crawdads.

The "mini-lobsters" are actually crayfish or crawfish, sometimes called crawdads in the US.
Kinda disappointed he doesnt call them Yabby. 😆
I also learned from a comment above that there is only one native species of crayfish in Amsterdam. There are 6 more that are actually invasive to Netherlands. I did not know this.

As a Dutch guy i wasn't suprised by the amount of bikes 😂 thats a most common thing over here. Especially in Amsterdam. Junkies and hobos and criminals will try to steal any bike they can get their hands on and throw it in the nearest water if they cant open it or to erase any trace of theft when they dont need it anymore.

Lots of Yabbi's (Oz) or as we call them in the UK., Crooka's ( Fresh water Crayfish). Leigh n Nicki, you've given me a bug..... After watching your Adventures I brought my first metal detector last month. Joined a club and off on my first dig the weekend in Wales. Did a bit of practice on the local beach... Results : 38 bottle tops, 6 throw away vapes 😞, 2 lead fishing weights, endless Ring pulls, a new lighter, a key, an eating knife (loads or other tat) and £1.14p!!! What a great hunt... Keep up the good work. Happy hunting.

I know this is a repeat question, but I wondered what happens to the bikes and scrap you guys find in each location. I think you let the local people know to pick it up, but thought to ask. Great job and fun to watch so thank you. Nickie does a great job filming too :-)
Leigh has stated previously that the scrap goes into the nearest bin and the bikes are usually left as near as possible for the local councils to decide their fate.

You should get some telescopic ladders for when you want to get down on them lower ledges
Not only you are helping people but helping the environment as well
People sometimes remove their seat trough the quickrelease, so the bike is less attractive to steal
What is killing me is that one of the bikes you found looks like a Gazelle with front and rear suspension which is something I've been looking for at an affordable price
