Mary, I am truly sorry to hear the news of your dear Mother's passing. She had a long life, my parent's were born in 1925, as well, and like your Mother, they lived through the great depression and WWII. We lost our Mother in 2008, Dad is still with us. I, like you, learned a great deal from my Mother about keeping a household and baking/cooking. We are all benefitting from your Mother sharing these skills with you, I'm sure she is very proud of all that you have accomplished. Remember that a Mother's love is everlasting, it doesn't end with their passing.

I cry& miss my Dad sooo much.I have no parents now. My Mum was 46 yes old when she die from shiny cancer. I was only 17 yes old.my beautiful Dad was 85 yes old. I pray Jesus will give u His strength & love towards u& your family.God bless u all.😢😢

I live in Scotland and started watching you on UA-cam - decided to get your book- my husband bought it from my Christmas. I find the detail and care you have taken just helps me so much - much of it goes back to basics of how we all lived. My parents taught me the importance of eating and living well - we are from India so ready made meals wasn’t something that didn’t generally appeal. I have a Family consumer science license but right now am teaching German and French in High school. I taught one year of home economics and had it all planned out with wonderful foods. Then I told my principal about my wonderful foods and he said: oh no, we can't do that.. these kids don't even know how to boil water. So instead of teaching them all about wonderful cooking, I had to teach them how to make muffins brownies spaghetti scrambled eggs..... what a bummer.. they need to learn how to preserve foods and yes the basics too, but the school curriculum was soooo limiting and booooringgggg!

Mary, as soon as you mentioned you were producing a cookbook, I ordered one from one of your authorized sellers. I then waited for a few months to receive it. I knew that it would be an authorized version and not second hand. Thank you so much for doing this! I will be trying many of the recipes as I love sourdough and fermentation recipes. I also love to make things from scratch as much of today's foods do not taste as they did when I was a child

I have my Modern Pioneer Cookbook right here! I’ve not cooked out of it yet, but this is a great introduction! I have watched many of your videos & learned so much. I watched the sourdough starter lesson & mine is going on 5 days. It’s going to make just fine. I have always wanted to learn how to make starter & my family loves sourdough bread. Im fantastic at making my grandmother’s yeast rolls from scratch. So I understand yeast & lactic acid. Thank you very much for your UA-cam channel!

I finally finished watching this awesome video. And yes, the very first thing I noticed about your book was the quality and the fonts sizes. I've never seen this done so well. But I want to say that I'm so sorry for your loss. My mom passed away last October, and I miss her so much, very very much. Like you, I was very close to my mother. I have seen the spiral bound book. It is on my wish list. Absolutely wonderful
Love my book! The pages are not only beautiful but it is made well. Thought I’d share how to break in a book spine so folks can ensure their books last and can be passed down.
Trying to keep the spine flat on a sturdy surface, open the cover and gently press open. Ado you feel the spine give apply more pressure by running the heal if your hand up and down where the cover meets the book pages. Repeat this for the back cover. Do NOT bend the covers back behind the spine as this could break the binding and ruin the book. Starting from one end of the book turn 7-10 pages in, keeping the spine flat to a sturdy surface, rub up and down the inside spine a few times. Go to the opposite end of the book repeat the process. Return to the end where you started the process, select another 7-10 pages and press them open along the inside spine. Remember to try to keep the spine flat on a sturdy surface. Repeat the process going from one end to the other of the book until you get to the center. This is a great way to break in a well bound book to make it flexible while preserving the strength of the spine.

It's funny, I was sitting by my husband when I went through it the first time and kept saying "OH! I remember that video!" I do think I remembered every single one! Awesome!

I have your cookbook, and it is teuly beautiful! I first learned hiw to make a regular (!not sourdough) artisan bread from your UA-cam video. I had tried another recipe, which didn't turn out well. But when i decided try your recipe, i played your UA-cam as i was bskinb the bread. I started and stopped the video as needed while making it, and it turned out great!! So, thank you for that! I want to make it again before i attempt to flow your instructions for making sourdough bread.

Mary, can I note something important. I absolutely love your book and I bought it. I clicked on this video because I did want to hear your commentary to see if there was some nugget of info to help me along with the book (which for me this video didn't add anything). The book is really well-made, with everything you really need which is amazing! I do like that you are proud of your great accomplishment, but I want to note that your UA-cam communication posts and your videos are becoming a little too full of your Cookbook and signing gigs at Barnes and Noble. We are all so happy to celebrate you and your achievement that I think some people won't say. I would love to have a little space in between your book promotion videos and posts. As a blogger/youtuber myself (on a different account than this one), I think I understand your reasoning, but as a viewer and subscriber, I hope to see other content with brief references maybe at the end of your other videos as a related reminder. Perhaps I'm a little late and this is one of the last things for the book, but I thought I'd mention anyway. Hope you aren't offended, I truly love your channel and think you do a marvelous job.

Sorry for your loss. We still have our mother but lost our father to radiation poisoning in February 1996. He was 40, Mom was 50, my brother was 18, I was 16, and my sister was 14 (it happened six days before her 15th birthday). Your book is as thorough as your videos. Spiral bound is easier to keep on the page you want. Bookmarks and paperweights help with paperback and hardcover. I keep most recipes I acquire in page protectors in a binder.

I’m so sorry for the pain and loss you are experiencing, especially at the holiday season. But so happy you know your mom is with her Savior. Isn’t that the true gift of Christmas? Christ’s provision of a place in His Kingdom forever, and God with us now in our suffering. We are all thankful for and blessed by your mom’s faithfulness to her calling in serving her family and the world by teaching you all she did, in both skills and attitude, for you have passed on all her gifts to us. I just love your videos and will be implementing your curriculum into our homeschool with your cookbook. I have a request though: Unless I missed it, can you do a few videos on using/caring for cast iron? I have a few cast iron pans from a store but I’m too afraid to use them for fear of ruining them! 🤦🏻♀️ Doesn’t have to be a recipe, just general cast iron info and help would be so appreciated!!

Mary dear sweet lady…I have very mixed emotions about your post about Moms passing. While my heart is heavy for your loss I can’t help but be overjoyed for Mom being called home to be with our Heavenly Father. It’s what we all strive for, to pass from our earthly home to be in the presence of God and all who are already there. I just know Mom is already working on earning her wings so as to help those of us still on our journey to our eternal home. You have so many memories to hold close as you mourn the loss and I know the hurt is great now but I also know you and your Hunny and son are not alone in this time of loss. Hang tight and God WILL make your heart whole again and that I truly will be praying for in your favor!!!:):):)
