When my now 31 year old daughter had braces in 7th thru 9th grade, she was so good about wearing her retainer after the braces came off. Then she went to college and was not consistent with wearing her retainer and her teeth shifted a bit so her retainer didn’t fit anymore. Biggest piece of advice I can give you is to wear your retainer every night for the rest of your life if you want to keep your teeth straight. I feel like they don’t tell you that strongly enough that it’s a lifetime commitment after having braces. People tend to think it’s only for 2 years and then you’ll always have straight teeth, but that’s not the case. Your teeth are beautiful Olivia, I hope the tenderness is subsiding and you can enjoy your new smile.

I would highly recommend getting the permit retainers (wavy wire). That way there is no hassle putting the retainer on every evening. 2 of my sisters had the one that you put on every evening and had to get braces again after a few years (yup 5000 dollars again). They now have the permanent wire (lesson learned). On the other hand, I had the permanent wire and 16 years later my teeth are still perfect and no hassle.
Yes! My daughter has a top and bottom permanent retainer and it’s been so nice so I don’t have to be on top of her for wearing an actual retainer. I’m 40 and still have a bottom permanent retainer from when I was 12 but had to get braces again for my top teeth since I stopped wearing my retainer.
I had the permanent wire on the top teeth and bottom. And unfortunately the top wire started unraveling after many years, mine was a bunch of tiny wires wrapped together, without me noticing causing my teeth to shift. My orthodontist always said I had strong teeth as far as wanting to move, whatever that actually means, so maybe that played in part. The top wire eventually fell out and I had let it go too long and had to get another set of braces. So all that to say, the permanent retainer can be great but make sure you are checking it or getting it checked.

Teeth Whitening causes teeth sensitivity so I agree wait a couple days until your mouth is less sensitive cause if she did the whitening now it’ll cause more unneeded pain

As someone with a bad back (I’m 9 months in on a back injury from 1/1/24), it was definitely pushing the imaginary break while Olivia was driving 😜😉🤭🤣 Hope your back feels better soon, Joel! Back pain is the worst! Congrats on getting your braces off, Olivia! Remember to always wear your retainer. I lost mine in my 20s and had to get Invisalign for awhile. Oh Joel, I sympathize with you. I have lower back problems and when it flares up it is painful! And sometimes I cannot say what caused it to hurt...it just happens! I usually take an Aleve and that helps for awhile. Sitting does help after being on my feet for awhile but sitting too long is not good either. I find that keeping moving is the best for me, but slowly and thinking about how I move works. Take care.
Braces Off days have been incredible for my grandchildren. Braces don't tend to add to cuteness while they are on, but, boy!, cuteness goes WAY up when they come off. Also, they do tend to push the lips out a bit, and that adds to the change when they come off. The views from your home are incredible. Is it possible that anyone could ever build something that would block your views, or do you own a lot of the empty land around your site?

For Joel- I know it sounds excessive but I also have back issues for zero explanation- ICE over heat to numb the nerve, nsads, and I bought a car with massage seats for anything longer the 30 minutes of driving. Prayers to you all ❤
I'm 73 and they did braces so different then. I had to wear my braces for 5 years and got them off on my 16th Birthday. My teeth were still kind of crooked and they said that that was all they could do! Congratulations!

My 8 year old had to get phase one braces for crowding. He had a tooth that wouldn't come in. He never complains but I know it hurts. I now have to go over his teeth because he just can't brush them good enough.
Just wanna let you know how old with Maisie and your family is to go through something last year. I am not going to mention it because it would be too dramatic for Bonnie, but she pulls through these videos and put a smile on her face no matter how much her family has changed.
Man I could never curl my hair so skillfully like Olivia. She ought to try those heat-less curling methods where you wrap your hair up when you go to bed and when you wake up it’s all curled for you. It would save her time. 😊
I got my braces off several years ago, and I still wear my clear retainer at night. It has helped my teeth stay straight. A lot of my friends don’t do it and their teeth are now not completely straight.

Then when I went in for my c section with my son they wouldn’t let me wear my retainer for the whole time I was in the hospital (why my teeth had something to do with my hoo-ha I will never understand) my teeth shifted in 4 days sooo now I have jacked up teeth again!
Get to a chiropractor! Hate to tell you as you get older the smallest movements can throw your back out. Hope Joel’s back feels better soon! Can’t believe that it’s been 2 years that Olivia had her braces on. She looks beautiful now! She was always beautiful but it’s just perfect now!
One time, my wire started poking in the back, so I put wax on it. Later, I forgot I had wax on there until I was eating. I couldn’t figure out why my food was so chewy until my wire started poking me again. I ate my wax with my dinner 🤢
I get it, Olivia. I had braces when I was growing up and I still got two front teeth that never did want to straighten up. And the worst thing is when my dentist tightened the braces. He just yanked on him and I wanted to scream. Two years of braces for me.
Update lol I officially hate my braces they hurt so bad I literally can’t eat I literally had a good cry this morning because It was so painful plus I was struggling to find anything for school lol hopefully the day gets better I hope this is worth it love you guys so much tell oliva she looks amazing and im so proud of her going through this wish me luck any tips for me please respond if you do 💕
The fact that Joel said, “I scheduled an MRI for next week” is wild to me! As a Canadian, even though we have “free” health care, if I needed an MRI right now it could be 6 months to a year before I actually get one. I waited over a year one time for an ultrasound!!
