What’s one thing you think should be eradicated from books?

one of mine is over-explaining BASIC, mundane things. ex: “before i stepped out the house, i sprayed my favorite sol de janeiro perfume in all my erogenous zones-matching lotion too. then i grabbed a honey and oat nature valley granola bar, so of course i had to change clothes because of the millions of crumbles all over me. you know i had to take my dog on a 3 mile walk, toilet her, and put her in her crate.” leave us aloneeee 😣

child characters who DON'T TALK LIKE CHILDREN AND ACT LIKE MINI ADULTS!!! I genuinely can't stand it it completely takes me out of the book. The ones that come to mind right now are Final Offer by Lauren Asher and the one I'm reading now Wild Love by Elsie Silver. Like these children talk like mini millennials with their 'sass' and their sole purpose is to like convince the adult characters to be together like they're not a character they're a PLOT DEVICE!!! I get so heated about this 😅😭

@@love.lauren... damn, I’m so sorry you have to read that lol I feel like I’ve always encountered the opposite where adult characters don’t act like adults AT ALL but I’m realizing I don’t really like either so thank you for the heads up 🫡

fr i agree with every single one of these!!!! but i always somehow have exceptions to the rule haha, i ended up reading and loving two accidental pregnancy books this year (Out on a Limb by Hannah Bonam-Young and Reckless by Elsie Silver) and loved them! Albeit the pregnancy is introduced as the set-up of the story so I wasn't blindsided, but I was still shocked that I not only didn't want to DNF them like I normally would but I even LOVED them!

I'll actually never get over the love triangle in the Infernal Devices, I normally HATE love triangles but this hit so hard.
