Catholic here - attending a mainstream conservative Catholic Church - I just walked up to a priest and asked to start a Bible study and I had a Bible study on the premises in 2 weeks.
You can also just walk up and ask to be a Catechist. You could walk up and offer to have a scheduled talk where you expand on a topic. You can do youth ministry. You can start a prayer group.
The Catholic Church needs tons of volunteers. There’s a constant influx of people into the Church and it requires a lot of educational and spiritual and practical assistance. The community really is a pastor to each other

I think it’s important to recognize that not everyone has the same callings. Some people really can spread the Gospel through discussion. The Apostles spent a lot of time reasoning with Jews in synagogues. But not everyone is good at making rational arguments, some people do more good by simply demonstrating what a Christian life looks like to non-believers. Some non-believers also aren’t ever going to be convinced by rational discussion, some people are more emotional than rational. I think knowing your own skills and matching your audience to your skill set is very important for evangelism.

Therefore he can point in the right direction, but admit about himself that he isn’t all knowing about what the Bible says. I mean just recently he became Supralapsarian when he used to be Infralalapsarian, and that was earlier this year. What he said was that you should remain NEUTRAL when talking about it, which means you wont win people over by saying "God is amazing, he can cure everything and have a plan for us all". A person will at the very least hesitate if they can sense that you're trying to convince them.
If someone asks us about our religion, we should simply speak from the heart. Anyone that senses our sincere happiness will be more open to the concept of converting.

I’ve been married for much shorter than you, but all I can say is to fulfill the calling you are called to as a husband. “Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,”
      ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭25‬ ‭ESV‬‬
It’s not an easy task, to love as perfectly as Christ loved is an impossible task, but when your wife looks at you she should be able to see Jesus. Whether she knows it or not. Living sacrificially to the utmost degree. If the change is evident, there will inherently be curiosity. And not being able to talk about something as important as your faith shows an area of weakness between y’all (even if it might be on her part) when it comes to communication that needs to be fixed. But again, most importantly. Love your wife as Christ loves the church and gave himself up for her.

    • @gackybass

I think it's important to establish that you're still the same person you were before. With heavily secular communities there's this fear that religion "brainwashes" people. You're still you.
With that made clear, I'm assuming you both consider yourselves fairly rational people if you were both critical of religion, in which case explaining how coming to faith was the rational choice for you would further help.
This is important to defuse any potential lingering distrust or animosity. If she feels like you're not the same person you were, or that you made a major life choice like this on an emotional whim rather than through rational thought, then of course she'd be distrustful of any conversation on the topic.
Ultimately, her faith and potential conversion is in God's hands, not yours. Pray as usual and God will put it on your heart when the time is right.

When the church was in power, we had the luxury to say "I follow Paul" and "I follow Apollos". But these are pagan times, and we must follow Christ and none else.
We must not be concerned with "ruling" the church and lording over our brothers. Jesus rebuked the disciples for thinking that way. Too much division comes from struggling for who will be in charge of whom, when it's not Biblical.

I kind of disagree that strong institutional churches are what would lead to a religious revival. I could cite examples of countries like Poland, and many European countries where they do have a strong, centralized church institution with lots of community influence, but that isn't really helping them stem the tide of secularism. I think an argument on why America is having more resilience to secularization compared to Europe is because America has a huge diversity of denominations competing in a survival of the fittest way.
Right now we're living in a time where mainstream institutions are more distrusted than ever. The education system, the government, the media, and yes, the big churches, are generally seen with distrust and being out of touch, and this kind of skepticism of mainstream institutions spills over to everything. It's kind of why populist movements are growing everywhere, why dominant political parties are getting hammered in Europe and American politics is becoming increasingly populist. And why the fastest growing churches are normally the new churches with few roots, since they go against the idea that they're establishment and out of touch. Pentecostalism and non-denominationalism being the best examples. I know this isn't probably what you want, but I'm just the messenger.
I think we're headed for an era of decentralization, not just in church, but in pretty much everything, just because the Western population has grown extremely skeptical of any centralized concentration of power.

Through the church I grew up in (a non-denominational one) I have had a decent amount of success in evangelism. Through our church's outreach programs, specifically our children's basketball league, many have started coming to church. The formula we used for that was to start by having a goal of outreach and a creative mind on how to get people in the doors for the outreach, followed by building the relationships. If someone walks into a church building for the first time and feels welcomed by a bunch of friendly people, they're more compelled to return. It has had quite a large success for the congregation with over half of the congregation being brought through the church doors by the basketball program and kept in the doors through relationships. I live in the South (technically, it's a border area, but culturally, we are a blend of southern and mid-western). There is a phrase here that might be a good strategy for evangelism: "Proclaim the gospel every day. When necessary, use words." Essentially, allow the Holy Spirit to direct your life. Be a good Christian: be kind and truthful. Let others see Christ in your actions and in how you treat others.

I've had a lot of nihilistic feelings and thinking for a long time, and it's worse because i'm Autistic. And since I'm autistic, the way my life has been. The way my life has been.
For most of my short life. Has almost felt like a Jail And even when I had My job. I just always felt like my life was meaningless, and it was doing nothing that my life.
He's just wasting away, achieving nothing, being nothing, and being stuck where I live.
I often feel Julius, Caesar. Because he When he read about the conquest of alexander the great He cried Because everything he had done in life was nothing compared alexander and his short life Alexander did something to get himself remembered forever And caesar realized At that point in his life. He would be forgotten and never remembered. And from those feelings gave birth for Caesar's desire for conquest. And to be like alexander
I have often Pleaded with God for years. Or just strictly told him I hate my life But I wish I could live in the past. Live a different life in be like that was great, conquerors and generals and warriors of the past.
I'm a history nerd and I love conquest I could fit more into the past Then I would in the modern world
Am I ignorant on what I say No, because I'm on history, and I know how people lived I've
I have just wanted a life that had more meaning and had more things for me to do And and not have a life that turns to dust

You cannot preach in the pulpit unless you are a deacon or a priest, but the Catholic Church has the most schools built around the entire world. All those schools are in need of high quality Christian teachers. I myself, when I was in university, under the Ateneo Cathecetical Instruction League, would go to the boundoks and preach the Bible to children in poor areas of the Philippines. The Church just has more regulation when it comes to lay preaching, but that is a good thing in order to prevent heresies.

God's love grace and salvation is like a gift. He offers it to the world, and although many people accept it, many people also decline his offer. It's for this reason that I don't think God converts people, I just think he empowers believers to spread the gospel and to convert others. I actually converted because of this channel, but I don't think God chose me to be saved, I think I'm saved because he offered me to be saved and I accepted. I agree with RZ that reaching the institutions is very important and even crucial for establishing the Gospel in a certain region, but his attack on street preaching and preaching to your friends and family is a hard miss. Why?
Well I could bore you with giving examples of how countless people believed the Gospel due to street preachers and their friends teaching them the Gospel without them asking. I could also tell you of the successes of the great street preachers such as the Wesley brothers and other methodists or I could also mention how the anabaptists gained a huge following even though they were severed from the institutions but I won't bore you with these facts, rather I'll just give a few examples of evangelising from the Bible, since we are Bible believers, aren't we?
During the earthly ministry of our Lord, was He trying to become a pharisee or some sort of a goverment official in order to reach the masses? No, He was a simple woodworker who preached from town centers, boats, synagogues and the temple. According to RZ logic, He was doing it improperly. Were the Apostles any different? No, they employed the same tactics. Just remember the first mass conversions after the coming down of the Holy Spirit.(Acts 2) The Jews who converted in Jerusalem didn't do it because a pharisee or a Roman philosopher told them so, they converted because Peter boldly preached to them the Gospel truth! We cannot abandon the clear biblical principle of evangelising because some other way seems more successful.
To sum it up, we must boldly truthfully and wisely proclaim the Gospel to ALL people using ALL sort of means. We must not put ourselves in a box like RZ tells us to, but wisely and while being led by the Spirit proclaim the Gospel using all techniques, whether they be direct preaching, reaching the institutions, social media, inviting people to church or something else.

In fairness to the Roman Catholics, I don’t think that what you said at 12:15 is accurate. The oldest still-operating church in North America is the Chapel of St. Michael the Archangel in Santa Fe, NM. It was built in 1610, 10 years before the pilgrims landed. I think Catholicism has at least an equal claim with Protestantism as being at least a dominant Christian cultural force, even if the Protestant denominations clumped together ended up having more influence. In the western states at least, (and perhaps in FL and LA) Catholicism definitely had much greater influence than Protestantism.

@@Thatoneguy-pu8ty I forgot about Texas as well. I'd say that Texas, Louisiana, Florida, California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, and maybe Maryland have the strongest historically Catholic roots.

Catholicism undoubtably has more influence globally and historically but the US has always been predominately a Protestant country. I say this as someone who isn’t Protestant. It’s just an undeniable fact.

Actually you kinda can "teach a Bible study" in the Catholic Church. The second Vatican council encouraged the laity to be involved in their parishes. Me and my friend each had a group of around 10 teens to prepare for confirmation, but of course a priest supervised us and took care of the more important stuff.
My other friends sing psalms and read the readings in Mass.
You don't have to be protestant to do something in your local church 😎

Hey! Can you please explain the difference between neo orthodox, new Calvinism and New Presbyterian, because I would like to know where I fit in in these three Christian roots

      I haven't heard "New Presbyterian"
New Calvinism is an EVANGELICAL movement of mostly Baptists and some Presbyterians to REDEFINE Calvinism as basically just predestination. Major figures include R.C. Sproul, John MacArthur, Paul Washer, John Piper
Neo-orthodoxy is a mostly MAINLINE academic movement to try and still hold to historic Christian beliefs while still accepting modern science and scholarship
There's something else called NEO-Calvinism, which was an early 1900s movement of people like Kuyper and Bavinck that focused on cultural transformation

A problem I have is I’m Christian in the head, I believe all the essentials logically, but it feels very legalist to me, like an if then statement
    I say I love God, I know I do, I MEAN I do, but I don’t feel I do
The prayers I say don’t feel genuine even if I do actually mean them, what do?

I pray for your return to the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, established by the Lord Jesus Christ, brother.
