Parker930 I suppose that’s true but I find a lot of them do criticise (for example Ariana Grande) who has a massive following. I agree some of them are a bit shouty but I like it because it’s the one of the ways she conveys more emotion and each of her performances are different she doesn’t stick to a format. Maybe you're an opera singer, but the fact is that opera singing and pop singing is very different, and can't be compared :) you naturally have a voice made for opera or for pop, or for rock etc ... yes a pop singer can not sing opera but an opera singer can't sing pop either.. But Lady Gaga can easily sing a lot of different genres: rock, pop, country, musical comedy and even pop. I don't know if you listened to her album with Tony Benett but believe me a lot of pop singers today are unable to sing like her! More personally I love the timbre of Lady Gaga, her vibrato, her voice power, besides I also love her songs, because yes in addition to being a singer she composes, dances, she is also an actress; she is a performer she is a complete artist and a very incredible singer. This woman, is not someone who just accidentally got lucky and stumbled onto fame. well, luck always plays a part in anyones career...but, she didnt just win a contest and got pushed to the front line to become a famous musician. she played piano at the age of 4, studied music everyday, she rode the train from Manhattan to New Jersey, everyday. she pushed and pushed because she had a strong passion to be successful. Her struggling mother encouraged her to join music and theater. she founded a couple bands in her teenage years. she can actually play instruments, unlike some singers who are on American Idol (and similiar shows). as like the group, One Direction. Only one of the guys can play an instrument, the guitar. Why is playing an instrument so important? it means they can most likely read music/notes/write and count beats, which means they take part in writing their own music and songs. not always but most of the time. most singers who cannot play an instrument just buy songs from someone else. Gaga, writes her own songs. Lady Gaga is a person who has true talent and her fame is well deserved.

I'm the same, if I hear one of her hits I am left stone cold but when I hear her belting out a few notes I am blown away. I was in a position (I call lucky) when I saw her in A Star is Born that I had basically ignored her because I don't like any of her pop songs so I had no idea how well she can sing. This made the movie more enjoyable for me because I was "discovering" her as the movie unfolded just like all the characters and audience in the movie were doing.

Even before she became "Lady Gaga," she had quite an extensive vocal training background (and a lot of classical voice training, if I'm right). It's no surprise that she can sing without the auto-tune.
well she might use auto-tune (or live pitch correction) and she might playback now and then for several reasons.. but she is a good singer.. no doubt about that.. her personality is a bit too much as a Diva (Madonna, Cher).. or wanna be's like Christina Aguilera or Ariana Grande.. they just "can't".. nor should they.. compare. But the guy on the taxi.. could be a great singer.. he's also talented... and there are millions of kids out there.. better than all of this established artists.. that never will make it, because the industry is to tied-up... so.. John Smith I've seen her live 4 times and I can promise that she doesn't lipsync. I'm not a super gaga fan, but she puts up a great show. One of the concerts I attended was in the end of her tour and her voice cracked several times due to exhustion but it didn't matter cause she gave 110% and sang her guts out. I have a bachelors degree in music production and audio engineering and I can tell emidietly if an artist lipsyncs or using auto tuning, Lady Gaga isn't if it's not intended to pitch her voice. Though I'm more of a person that likes iconic artist like David Bowie, Prince, Queen etc and the best moment in my life were when I got to see David Bowie live. May he rest in peace, but Gaga is a performer into her bones and no one can take that away from her.

You do realize most rock singers can't sing worth a shit today, right? And only a handful could in the 70s and 80s, not to mention even fewer in the 90s. Every hard rock band covers the singer's weak voice with bringing up the mix on the instruments, adding wetness to the vocals and quadrupling the lead track to give it depth. When the voice gets blown the clarity of pitch drops first and then it becomes pure head voice. That's when it's time to retire. Gaga is world class.

A lot of rock metal bands have amazingly talented singers: David Draiman of Disturbed (Just listen to his Sound of Silence cover) Simone Simons of Epica, Sharon den Adel of Within Tenptation, Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil, etc. Now, Lady Gaga is a tremendously talented singer and I say that as I’ve seen her live. And I know a lot of pop singers can sing too. Demi Lovato performing Father live literally made me cry. Don’t dis hard rock and metal singers just because some are bad... you’d be surprised about how many are actually superb.

That’s what happens when you’re a classically trained singer. Another one is Pat Benetar whose mom was an opera singer and teacher. She can still hit those high notes. Steve Perry’s father was classically trained as an opera singer and taught Steve how to sing. Check out Ken Hamlin vocal academy on you tube. He trains rock singers, actually anybody, using classical techniques to sing rock without killing their voices. His work is outstanding. I’m 76, was classically trained, sing just about anything and still can sing high notes. Warm ups are really important and taking care of your voice as you get older. Even then in the case of my former choir director who is 83 and was a world class opera singer or Jon Bon Jovi the vocal cords can stiffen up and affect the ability to sing.

Lady Gaga has done metal with Metallica, sung broadway tunes, sung R&B and done what she wants. I really liked her tribute to Julie Andrews at the Oscars. She has also done two jazz albums with Tony Bennett.

I’ve seen her in concert. She doesn’t use auto tune. The singing was nearly flawless, but there were enough “human moments” to be able tell that it was natural

Gaga is one of few artists, Sia included, who actually has really good music and can really sing live or in studio without auto-tune. Honestly Gaga has a way of really getting into people's hearts and minds and souls and knows how to make you feel good. She doesn't need auto-tune. That is only for people like Britney Spears who can't sing a lick live without having the microphone auto-tuned itself. Gaga and Sia, I feel, are both made for this generation. They have the voice that Generation Z needs.
There's no denying her talent as a vocalist. I wasn't a fan of her early "gimmick" phase of her career for which she became famous. But she has shown more sides of herself since then and just singing and performing a variety of genres of music without all the gimmicks has allowed people to see just how talented she really is.
Have you seen the stuff online from before she became Lady Gaga? Personally I think her 'shock persona' takes away from her talent. Many of the other performers need the costumes and the personality to get them through to where they are but this woman has such pure talent that all the shtick is a distraction that takes away from the magnitude of her full talent.
Likely lot's of her early stuff was produced to bits by corporate. The more she became a star the more she likely put her own twist on stuff. I mean if you look at stuff like "Just Dance" and then just the next album you already see her emerging more and more.

So many ppl have voices like this where we both come from (Siciliy), but none get discovered like she did. My cousins sing like this while cooking over a stove. Crazy. The women have very deep rustic speaking voices- something common no one talks about. So singing is natural for most. They satisfy themselves doing local voice talent shows. I am glad she has been able to create and do what she wants in this business. She 100% deserves it. She is genuinely talented and meant to do this. It's a very difficult lifestyle. Why most Sicilian women prefer family life instead of getting out there.

I'm not a fan of Gaga, but it's incontestable, she's a real singer! A real diva, like many people used to say, doesn't use auto-tune or play back.
Even before she became "Lady Gaga," she had quite an extensive vocal training background (and a lot of classical voice training, if I'm right). It's no surprise that she can sing without the auto-tune.

But the guy on the taxi.. could be a great singer.. he's also talented... and there are millions of kids out there.. better than all of this established artists.. that never will make it, because the industry is to tied-up... so.. John Smith I've seen her live 4 times and I can promise that she doesn't lipsync. I'm not a super gaga fan, but she puts up a great show. One of the concerts I attended was in the end of her tour and her voice cracked several times due to exhustion but it didn't matter cause she gave 110% and sang her guts out. I have a bachelors degree in music production and audio engineering and I can tell emidietly if an artist lipsyncs or using auto tuning, Lady Gaga isn't if it's not intended to pitch her voice. Though I'm more of a person that likes iconic artist like David Bowie, Prince, Queen etc and the best moment in my life were when I got to see David Bowie live. May he rest in peace, but Gaga is a performer into her bones and no one can take that away from her.

You do realize most rock singers can't sing worth a shit today, right? And only a handful could in the 70s and 80s, not to mention even fewer in the 90s. Every hard rock band covers the singer's weak voice with bringing up the mix on the instruments, adding wetness to the vocals and quadrupling the lead track to give it depth. When the voice gets blown the clarity of pitch drops first and then it becomes pure head voice. That's when it's time to retire.

A lot of rock metal bands have amazingly talented singers: David Draiman of Disturbed (Just listen to his Sound of Silence cover) Simone Simons of Epica, Sharon den Adel of Within Tenptation, Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil, etc.
Now, Lady Gaga is a tremendously talented singer and I say that as I’ve seen her live. And I know a lot of pop singers can sing too. Demi Lovato performing Father live literally made me cry.
Don’t dis hard rock and metal singers just because some are bad... you’d be surprised about how many are actually superb.

Gaga has won me over! Such a versatile singer. That Zeppelin cover caught me by surprise. Not a ton of singers can pull that off naturally.
That’s what happens when you’re a classically trained singer. Another one is Pat Benetar whose mom was an opera singer and teacher. She can still hit those high notes. Steve Perry’s father was classically trained as an opera singer and taught Steve how to sing. Check out Ken Hamlin vocal academy on you tube. He trains rock singers, actually anybody, using classical techniques to sing rock without killing their voices. His work is outstanding.
I’m 76, was classically trained, sing just about anything and still can sing high notes. Warm ups are really important and taking care of your voice as you get older. Even then in the case of my former choir director who is 83 and was a world class opera singer or Jon Bon Jovi the vocal cords can stiffen up and affect the ability to sing.

Lady Gaga has done metal with Metallica, sung broadway tunes, sung R&B and done what she wants. I really liked her tribute to Julie Andrews at the Oscars. I’ve seen her in concert. She doesn’t use auto tune. The singing was nearly flawless, but there were enough “human moments” to be able tell that it was natural
i remember a concert (forget which one) she was swinging around and her voice changed a bit as she swung around on somebody so you could definitely tell

Gaga is one of few artists, Sia included, who actually has really good music and can really sing live or in studio without auto-tune. Honestly Gaga has a way of really getting into people's hearts and minds and souls and knows how to make you feel good. She doesn't need auto-tune. That is only for people like Britney Spears who can't sing a lick live without having the microphone auto-tuned itself. Gaga and Sia, I feel, are both made for this generation. They have the voice that Generation Z needs.

There's no denying her talent as a vocalist. I wasn't a fan of her early "gimmick" phase of her career for which she became famous. But she has shown more sides of herself since then and just singing and performing a variety of genres of music without all the gimmicks has allowed people to see just how talented she really is.
Have you seen the stuff online from before she became Lady Gaga? Personally I think her 'shock persona' takes away from her talent. Many of the other performers need the costumes and the personality to get them through to where they are but this woman has such pure talent that all the shtick is a distraction that takes away from the magnitude of her full talent.
Likely lot's of her early stuff was produced to bits by corporate. The more she became a star the more she likely put her own twist on stuff. I mean if you look at stuff like "Just Dance" and then just the next album you already see her emerging more and more.

So many ppl have voices like this where we both come from (Siciliy), but none get discovered like she did. My cousins sing like this while cooking over a stove. Crazy. The women have very deep rustic speaking voices- something common no one talks about. So singing is natural for most. They satisfy themselves doing local voice talent shows. I am glad she has been able to create and do what she wants in this business. She 100% deserves it. She is genuinely talented and meant to do this. It's a very difficult lifestyle. Why most Sicilian women prefer family life instead of getting out there.

Dime... You have issues bud. I don't promote any agenda but, I will say this. She didn't force anything on anyone. She did her own thing, her own way. And, as it turns out, it worked and, millions and, millions of people around the world, just happen to agree with a lot of what she says and, does. I'm one of them. When your own philosophies and, accomplishments rival what she's got done in her short life so far, then perhaps others will listen to and, identify with you. Until then, you are just jealous and, whining she's not like you.

It's kind of hard to tell when she's autotuned to shit (in a semi-literal sense) and all of the nuances that make her voice real and human get ironed out. She doesn't need it, so don't use it.
jformaldehydem - Gaga has said, time and, time again, she doesn't believe in using auto-tune and, hundreds of others have stated emphatically she does not use it on anything... She simply refuses it with good reason... Her singing voice is excellent... She trains, she practices, and she gets it right with very few exceptions in quality... NO other female singer is comparable to her... Noone...
Love the set up in the studio. She's got candles, water, looks like a humidifier, she looks comfortable. That's the way to do it!!

Auto tune is okay if used sparingly with a talented person. Lady Gaga doesn't need it, though. She has a wonderful voice!
i say this so much to people, when singing live just to take any minute slip-ups out of the equation then yeah a little bit can't hurt IF.. you can already sing well that is, if somebody relies pretty much solely on auto tune to perform then tbh you're in the wrong career imo. Her superbowl performance was spot on

Lady Gaga has such a beautiful voice without auto tune she hits ever note just right no matter what song she sings. I think she best with her voice and panio so real to here she is one amazing singer there nothing she can't do with that voice she has been blessed with.
