Thank you so much Jayce! After watching your review I took the chance and bought the Atom. I had the Xgimi Elfin, and loved it very much, but the Atom is a league ahead. Thank you for your image settings. It was great out of the box, but your calibrations make it a big step up! I am loving my Atom!

Please advise which mode is best for watching movies - standard or max? At first glace seems that the brightest the better but perhaps I am wrong. What’s your stance?

Never heard of this projector brand so it probably hasn't been long in the market and yet they're already making something this good, I'm positively surprised. I bookmarked it, probably will get it later this year, it seems very versatile, essentially a portable high-end display good for gaming too.

Very nice review! Thanks a lot!! Im very curious about your review of the Vidda C1S... I have one Vidda C1(not S) and in my Tests the Input LAG of C1 was 0 (zero) with Keystone disabled and activate Enhanced HDMI, Real Time response and Game Mode.... and with Keystone correction activate inputlag was near to zero.... I Can play FPS games with total quality and response possible... its impressive!!

I've got some questions regarding Formovie S5 vs Dangbei Atom tho.
Do you believe that the Atom is worth more than double the price of the Formovie S5 (S5 400euro vs Atom 850euro here in EU) with regards to the extra brightness, sharpness and software (Google TV with licensing)?
Also is it really noticable that the doesn't have memc?

Atom has 2X actual brightness than S5. Better software support with official Netflix.
Personally, I don't use MEMC. Just like keystone correction...
It is depending on your requirements. If need those, go for Atom. Else S5 does the jobs too on smaller screen.

What kind of power draw does this take? I’m really curious about using this as a portable projector. It’s missing a battery but it’s so compact and light it would be fairly easy to carry this around and a lifepo4 battery station.

I use tybe c to dc port fixed voltage I don’t remember 15v with 5a or 20v with 5a and you can use any powerful bank power can give 20v 5a … i use also my tybe c charger to power this projector without this big break… actually i have the Chinese version from this projector d5x pro but its the same only the different is the rom
Maaaaa frieeend. Sir, have you tested xgimi Zx7?, do you think is better than formovie S5 or Dangbei atom?, all of them seem pretty similar, specially ZX7 and S5, what are your thoughts about that. I found a ZX7 almost at the same price of formovie S5 (Atom in my country is pretty much out of my budget) and now I don't know wich one to choose, what wolud be your choose for main projector between ZX7 and S5?. my main use is for movies with very low to 0 ambient light.

Thanks for the review Jayce!! I have to decide between S5 and Atom. My sitting/viewing distance from projection screen is ard. 12 ft and projection screen is 7.5 x 5 ft. This will produce an 100 inch screen (16:9). I can place the projector by the side wall ard. 7-8 ft away from the screen. The room has curtains but natural light is there if a projector is used in daytime. Although Dangbei Atom is brighter and shows more detail but I like Formovie S5 better for its natural colours and sound. My dilemma is how will the picture from both (Atom & S5) look from a 12 ft viewing distance? Should I get S5 or Atom? Thanks in advance.

Since Projection screen can show a max of 100 inch (in 16:9 format) I can either place the projector at 12-13 ft. behind viewing position (close to center of screen) and use zoom function to reduce picture size or place the projector by the side wall 4-9 ft. from screen and use auto focus to get the right picture size. Given these facts, I will really appreciate if you could guide me on which projector to get (either Dangbei Atom or Formovie S5), for getting a good picture quality? Will really appreciate that. Nothing projector's sale is ending soon. So I need to order asap 🙂

@@jitender5731 Image quality should not far between on that distance. But brightness does.
The external appearance of this projector closely resembles that of the Formovie S5, which has been reported to fail after only a few months of use by numerous users. My conjecture is that it may be due to a thermal issue stemming from its compact size. If the internals of this projector are similar, it could face a similar fate.

it's good the fact some brands are copying formovie s5's design. i think there's no need to go for other if this one is completely wonderful for portability, quality, low noise, low temperature. the sound is as good as some big projector. there's no sense in make a big box as projector like the vast majority out there.
Not sure who copied who. There is a lot of compact projectors using this kind of design.

Not sure. I don't have the correct battery to test it. You need at least 100W output.
Could you please explain if dangbei atom has DCI-P3? I wander if turning on HDR on this projector is the right move. Also please explain how do you calculate Ansi Lumens from ISO lumens. If dangbei Atom has 1200 ISO lumens shouldn’t it be calculated to 960 Ansi Lumens (0,8 ISO lumen=1 Ansi lumen). I can’t get how your measured values are higher.
It's the other way round so 1200 ISO equals 1500 Ansi

@@tubeliko Look for the one with tripod mount. But take note that LCD projectors are heavier than DLP projectors. Not so suitable for ceiling projection.

You can't disable HDR on Netflix. Select the quality you want at UA-cam to disable HDR.
How is the pixelation compared with the wemax go advance and formovie s5? Does it worth the difference except the brightness?

@@hamiltonsouza9764 Look like your soundbar is not compatible with Atom then. (I assumed soundbar input settings are all correct. Reboot soundbar might help too sometime)
You can try to factory reset Atom and test again see. Else consult Dangbei Atom.

@@sakkel.7357 Score - 73 vs 64. Brightness - 1278 vs 573. DMD - 0.33 vs 0.23. Pricing - this depends on your country and taxes. Gaming is better on Atom too.

Welcome. Not possible. Global model has different mainboard and CPU. So China model will not get global firmware at all.

@@jayceooi no actually its a very powerful projector at totally… but i cant use this projector cpu that much because it has totally Chinese language ..no English and any other languages at all ..so i use it with mi tv box …and the only downside in this projector its the usb ports cant power anything like mi stick or google chrome tv ..I don’t know its only my project unit or the usb power delivery is very week..is not that important but i just noticed that

USB port should able to power Mi TV Stick. Google Chrome is known not able to use USB port.
