I’m from N Idaho and have spent a lot of time in Montana. Never heard of Blue Rock, so I looked it up. No such place. Love Willie’s storytelling. Such a great writer. Although Blue Rock, MT doesn’t exist on a map, I can see it in my mind. Thanks Willie.
Happy 91st birthday Willie. One of the greatest events of my life took place 50 years ago, when I smoked weed with you before a concert in Portland Oregon. YOU ARE ALWAYS ON MY MIND, IN MY HEART, and, IN MY PRAYERS ❤️🙏❤️
I've been a fan since my cradle. Never a bad show or song. The nicest guy in the business. I truly appreciate this song about us, red headed strangers.
One of the best songs ever by one of the last living outlaws. I pray for Willie regularly. Life is rolling downhill like a snowball headed for Hell. So grateful I'm old enough to remember a more pure freedom than the younger generation will ever realize.
Ol Willie put out the definitive concept album, entire album is a masterpiece of a story, every song too, so much so that Blue Eyes Crying In the Rain was playing softly during my grandpa’s visitation. Talented artist all across the board, duets with Tony Bennet,Ray Charles, Merle Haggard, the list goes on and the songs he wrote for others like Patsy Cline will speak for eternity! Thank you sir for your impact on our world, especially mine!
I bought the red headed stranger album on an 8 track back in the early seventies. Now i have a cd of it. One of my favorites back then ,and still is today. There isn't another guitar on the planet that sounds like trigger. Or another Willie, He is a true Treasure to music..
Trigger is like the Thor's Hammer of guitars. Over the years the action has gotten so high and the frets so worn that Willie is pretty much the only person who can play it, because his hands have molded to it perfectly over the decades. I honestly believe that the instant Willie dies the neck will snap and Trigger will explode into a million splinters because it's impossible at this point to imagine either existing without the other.
Tonight is a good time to quote Willie: "I'm not cold, I'm not wet and I'm not hungry, classify these as Good Times". Now quit bitchin' about everything and be thankful we still live in the land of milk and honey. God Blessed Willie and I hope he does me too. Now can we all get together and pray for the soul of Ira Hayes?
I agree-Unreal talent-At age 90 he's still performing. I have Red Headed Stranger and Tougher than Leather albums (Classic recordings) plus half a dozen others by Willie including his first ever album. Greeting from Newfoundland to all Willie's fans here.
Dear Willie, I just finished the third book of yours; Me and Bobbie, Energy to Thought and My Story, I have to say I am a better person to have read your books. From one songwriter to another I am grateful to have read these insights into a remarkable life and work. I remember the first time I listened to your Stardust album I was a teenager in Michigan , it blew me away. Many years later as a US Air Force Band singer I performed those classic American songbook songs as well, thank you for inspiring me to keep on writing and singing! God Bless.
Make me proud to be a human. He saved humanity with his music. Otherwise we are crap to the aliens. They are like " what is this lame computer generated crap. The computer is like our 1000 year old calculator.". Thank God for Willie. And Waylon. Keith Whitley, Neil Diamond (I mean c'mon man) Autograph (for the neighbors) you know.... real music.
I met Willie with my husband Charles Lindert, the semi electric guitar builder. Twice on bus on Wa State back in the 1990,'s Yes, Willie is genuine.Thumbs up guitars.. Thanks Will.
And again, like Slim Dusty and Bob Dylan and Tom T Hall the voice and the story match. Ya cant get better than that the body and soul coincide perfectly
At the Ozarks Amphitheatre I saw Willie and family play this and many other Classics from this album a couple years back. Willie was tired and only played for an hour or so before passing it off to Lukas and Micah. But that hour we had him was special.
I was a momma's boy from day 1 & owe my love of all types of music to my Mother! She could sing like Patsy Cline & play piano, I spent most my younger years following her around house. Willie was 1 of her FAVORITES & I cant remember a time she was not singing or humming a song. One day she stopped & most of us were too busy to notice... I am 100% sure that is when her dementia/Alzheimer's really began. :( One of single worst things I've ever had witness & happened 3 times, both grandmothers & Mom. I wish no one ever has to watch this happen someone that gave birth to you or known u since birth & 1 day not know who you are. Idk what to even compare it to honestly. Sorry for long post.
I have listened to this album since I was a kid in the 70s! It's like our family thing. I almost cried several years ago when my Aunt Vickie bought me the movie and soundtrack. I have so many good memories from happy times in the mountains of Northern Colorado. This ALWAYS takes me home no matter where I am. JJ -South Alabama Edited for stupid auto correct
Your Grandma had great taste in music. may she rest in peace and may you soon start to remember only the good times with her. be happy that's what she would want most.
In 2016 I saw Willie Nelson live in Austin. Bobbie Nelson was still around too and backed up her brother on piano. The show was even MC’ed by Matthew McConaughey. I’m a Louisiana guy but needless to say that was one of the most Texan experiences I’ll ever have.
I fell in love with the song because I had dyed my hair red and my horse 🐎 was so dark he looked black and I was the only person that could ride him.I don't like tame horses. I used to break them and train them 🐎
My aunt alice day a curly haired red dog that she called the red-headed stranger he wandered on her porch one day and she kept him till they both died R.I.P aunt Alice Faye and the red-headed, stranger. Damn covid
It's from a very old movie, where Willie Nelson plays the title character of the red headed stranger, from the movie of the same name. So of course the name of blue rock mountain most likely is fictional, like most names of places in games and movies, except for the ones everybody knows about, like New York or Los Angeles. But don't take my word for it, and look it up for yourself, as my memory might be wrong about some details. But my point about fictional names of places in movies or games, is definitely a valid one. And I saw the movie once, but that was long ago, so again, I advice you to look it up yourself, for absolutely correct info.

I live in MT.

Thank you sir . For the sounds in our life, were finer because of you😊
I've been a fan since my cradle. Never a bad show or song. The nicest guy in the business.
I truly appreciate this song about us, red headed strangers.

Lol

A legend, by whatever measure. When he's gone, we've lost a national treasure 😢
"Stay out of the path of the raging black stallion and don't lay a hand on the bay." Lyrics just don't get any better.

Love you Willie Nelson ❤❤
I’d love to see Willie and his “ family” play this live - just this album. No other hits.
At the Ozarks Amphitheatre I saw Willie and family play this and many other Classics from this album a couple years back. Willie was tired and only played for an hour or so before passing it off to Lukas and Micah. But that hour we had him was special.
My grandmother used to sing this to me! She’s gone 2 years this year, makes me think of her.

This is possibly the best song Willie has ever done. It is Willie to the core.
Willie is the best as far as I'm concerned. Still kicking in the 23.
Love it but no place called blue rock mt

Trying RHS for the first time and listening to this song for the first time.
This isn't Down Yonder...
Oh me and my Dad used to listen to this.
Willie didn't write this. Originally recorded by Arthur Smith in the early 50s.
I don't buy that
I've always liked willie since the 1980s
❤🎉
One of my favorites ❤
Willie got there first
Totally agree
