I agree, I’m a trombonist and a percussionist here in PR🇵🇷, salsa music has that challenge! Excellent master class!!! Thanks a lot !!!
Glad you like it 👍
You've summed me up perfectly.
Fantastic advice! You skipped the overused “feel it in your soul” and gave me some solid tools to use to be more exciting. Thanks
Thank you mate 🙏
Dranaby, thank you for all work you have done formulating concepts of a good trombone solo that were sort of floating in my mind! Very clear presentation! Thank you!
Nice one Alex, there is always SO much to think about ha ha arghhhh 👍
I hear you brother! I live in the caribbean and most of the bands have a full Latin percussion section (congas, timbales, cow bells) plus piano and bass and screening trumpets😂😂😂. It gets really loud and it is quite challenging for a trombone solo to be heard and still sound musical.
Damn Barnaby, so much good stuff here, and delivered with the best humor, I was smiling the whole way:) If you're ever in the DC area you must come do our big band Monday night hang! Free beer :)
Thanks so much.. it is good fun and I will definitely take you up on the offer next time I’m in DC 👍
freaking awesome information man! Youre a beast player and teacher!!
Thank you 🙏 That’s very kind. It’s a new thing to think about right!!?? Have a go. I’ll do some smaller videos focussing in on these things and put some PDFs on my Patreon site for you to check out ( www.Patreon.com/Barnabydickinson) 👍
Barnaby! Dude! The best exposition of how to make a solo really happen I've ever heard. I wish I'd heard this forty years ago. :-) Thank you!
Thank you Ralph. I’ve been thinking about these things for a long time and don’t hear many people talking about them. 👍
Thanks.
wonderful. Where were you when I was a kid. Ill bet so much of this resonates with every bone player who has ever tried to strut their stuff in a live band. Time to join your patreon methinks.
Thanks Glenn, I appreciate it.
Your awesome! ❤
Thank you mate, glad you like 👍
I learned some things here. Thank you.
Nice one Kevin 👍
Totalmente ispiratore 💥🥳🙏
Thank you Paul
Wow i wish to learn how to solo from you boss you are amazing❤
Thank you mate, check out my Patreon page if you want sheet music and more of this. 👍 www.Patreon.com/Barnabydickinson
Your only solo of the night😂 reminds me of when I went on tour with Gilbert O'Sullivan, there was a comedian on part of the show and I had to play a solo, only it was to be played as bad as I could, then. My slide was to fall off at the end ( the bari player would catch it) imagine this in The Lincoln Center😢) at least I didn't have to have any anxiety 😮 they picked the right guy 😂
What trombone model are you playing?
Hi, this trombone is a Bach 12 👍
@@BarnabyDickinson Looks like a silver satin finish. Is it a custom model?
@@michaelbavarian yeah
I suspect the way to go is to play eighth notes. How does one learn to play in eighth notes?
For you Ezra, I would start slowly and practice those Be-Bop Scales. Up and down your horn 👍👍👍
