I had a burger at a restaurant in Iceland that was an open-faced burger on a donut with candied bacon on it. Probably one of the best things I've ever eaten. When I lived in Maryland, there was a local donut shop that made potato donuts, so I bought some one day, went home, made bacon cheeseburgers, and used the potato donuts as buns... so good.
I had a friend who did that. I always thought it was weird. But then think about McGriddles from McDonald’s. Eggs and sweet syrup. So, kinda the same thing
I add grenade syrup (2%), cane syrup (3%), and lemonade (30%) to my red wine (65%) to make a cheap sangria, only with low budget wine tho, but it's always tasty. Coke would be like a caramel syrup instead I guess, I don't really want to try tho... But it doesn't sound absurd.
The best I’ve tried was potato chips (those wavy, very salty kind) coated in dark chocolate. This Japanese brand Royce sells them. Man it’s delicious, but don’t look at the calories !
Actually the redwine+coke is a popular drink in Spain, specially in the Basque Country, is called Kalimotxo, but you use a really cheap wine to do that, like less than a euro per litre wine, and it goes better with ice. The hangover can last years, you've been warned
A couple of decades ago, when I worked with some Spanish kids over in the US on student work and travel visas, I learned of this concoction. I remember looking it. Had no particular hangover problems.
In Germany it is not as popular, but known as "Kalte Muschi" (basically Germans trying to say Kalimotxo) which means "cold pussy" (yes, both as in "pussy cat" and colloquial for "vagina")
I would actually kinda love a video or even series where you make and rate these combinations, but I guess that would be a pretty different format from what you normally do
Nutella on cheese pizza is pretty normal in Brazil. We also do with Brigadeiro (look for the recipe online). And red wine with coke is a regular thing at university parties...

Lololol there’s a restaurant here and I believe they had the donut burger buns at one point. I also have to admit I have done the cola and wine a couple times. When you like sweeter wines it makes the more bitter ones palatable 😅
I agree with the grape jelly on eggs thing, if I go to a certain place and get their biscuit sandwich, I just get egg and cheese, no sausage and then put grape jelly on it, sublime.
Try white hot chocolate with an Earl Grey teabag- tastes EXACTLY like froot loops (kid talked me into it at the intercom in the drive thru @ Tim Hortons) MIND BLOWN! 🤯
Glazed donut burger buns were trending some years back. I went to a restaurant that actually had a glazed donut bun hamburger on the menu, and it was pretty amazing.
Why is there so much grape flavored stuff available in the US? Powder and even jelly. Also Fanta exists with grape flavor. Why isn't this a thing here in Europa or at least not here in Germany?
Depends on the restaurant. I go to a sports bar in my town that has no desserts on the menu. I'll bring in a box of cookies a lot, and once I brought in a tray of donuts for someone's birthday. I have also brought food into my favorite coffee shop, which doesn't have any food other than bagels and muffins.
The last one reminded me of a kid I knew in middle school who would put chocolate chip cookies (like the whole cookie on top) on pizza. I've tried it before and it was pretty good
The bowl of chips with whipped cream!! My son did that once!! And a he once brought me a sour apple with salt for breakfast in bed!! I heard that someone once ordered mussels with chocolate sauce. ROFL!!!!!! Love to all 'weird' people from a short plus size pink rebel; Pinkie
I believe coke/pepsi (or just any cola) in red wine is a European thing, we do it in Romania commonly. It started off as a way to make really bad wine palatable, but now it's done with even decent or good wine. Personally, I would never mix good wine with cola - I prefer to enjoy it plain. Also, some people dilute their wine with sparkling water - I see this being a lot more common with people who are middle-aged or older, and especially diabetics - like my dad. I personally am not a fan of this practice, as very few wines actually benefit from it, in my opinion. Though, of course, I understand wanting to bulk out the amount of wine you're allowed to drink as a diabetic by just adding water, so I don't judge when I see it.
omg, the red wine and the Coke. I had regulars from I think Czechoslovakia that used to order that. Maybe Poland, I can't recall. But it was totally a thing with them. I tried it. It wasn't horrible, but one of those things that must be an "acquired" taste.
It sounds unusual, but mix a hearty amount of basil into scrambled eggs with salt, pepper, & some garlic powder. I swear, I've converted several people to this!
Sound pretty pedestrian to me. Like the other guy said, eggs and herbs is pretty standard, and seasons with salt, pepper, and garlic is also nit very adventurous.
The red wine and coke is a thing in a few parts of the world, including Spain who is a producer of red wine, it's called a Kalimotxo, I've tried it, and it's actually very good, (but usually best with cheap dry Spanish wines)

Coke + red wine = poor man's sangria. Might be good. I butter and jelly my biscuits before I pour sausage gravy all over them. So good with the sweet breaking up all of that fat. So the eggs and jelly is something I can get behind. Most of these look ok actually. Not sure about the chips + whipped cream and nutella + cheese pizza, but to each their own.
I know nutella and pizza "dough" or "bread" (sorry I'm not native, but you know, cooked) is god tier, and since cheese is fermented milk... Maybe ? Eggs can be sweet or salty without any problem. Same thoughts for the poor man sangria, although it's usually done with lemonade, coke seem worse, but may be actually decent yeah.
The cheese pizza with nutella sounds good if there's no particularly pungent cheeses. I make toast with mozzarella cheese and nuttella from time to time... is delicious
You should try a grilled cheese with Brie and Nutella. Serious Eats has a good recipe. Don’t use regular Wonder-type bread. Use something sturdier like a good Italian bread.
